I like @CaveMum listen to The Rest is Entertainment podcast. Kate Phillips from the BBC said she’s had a ton of emails of people putting themselves forward. Anton could be among them but I took the impression she had heard from some much bigger names

I don't think he's got the presenter chops though. Much as I like to deride the Tess-bot (RIP Monkseal), her job is a lot harder than it looks and I don't think he'd be up to it.

It certainly wasn't a BBC flagship Saturday-night behemoth with a million moving parts and potential for anything to go wrong at any point.

Totally different kettle of fish and much more than being able to read an autocue. Very few people can do a good job of live telly.

My money is still on Zoe Ball for Tess. She’s stood in before ages ago. Rylan for Claudia or maybe as he’s ascending at the moment Alan Carr.

We need to remember that Tess had been shadowing Brucie for a number of years before she took over in her own right.

She wasn't thrown in at the deep end .

I think Zoe is a good shout.

Zoe was very good when she stood in. Although she looked faintly shell-shocked when she first came on I guess she'd got the call at about ten minutes' notice.

I never liked Alan Carr but have warmed up to him since the Traitors, and think he'd be good at the Claudia-style chat and mild anarchy.

No. He left ITT . A couple of years ago just before his divorce and I don't think he was doing well.

I like Rylan but he doesn't seem to stick to one project for very long, he might not manage chaos of upstairs every week.

Alan would be in his element up on the balcony ...but ..would he manage the time management side of things to keep things running smoothly ?

As an aside ..
Ant and Dec were saying last night that they hate doing live tv .
(There was a live trial on I am Acgmooh)

Mainly due to the unknown and the timings.

Could Alan cope with that ?

Yes re LV, they have panto, live tour and Annie. No wonder they had to withdraw to make sure their injury heals in time for these lucrative shows!
