Just watched the all star dance again and wow it was stunning. Jay sadly not as good as he was.

However it just proves how ring-y Layton (and to a slightly lesser extent Danny) were. I mean, clearly absolute pros. Layton however never did an iconic dance- Jay’s jive and Danny’s samba are the two most iconic strictly dances IMO. Third place would probably go to Bill Bailey’s CC with OTI. Not nearly as technically advanced but boy did he own it.

Layton's QS and AT were iconic, IMO. I dont like his personality but he was a great dancer.

I agree, @Clearinguptheclutter - Bill Bailey was so good, and it was really unexpected! He was like Hamza or Chris McCausland, just a really pleasant surprise.
His CC with Oti was excellent.
I liked Layton, I thought he was quite sweet, and he had a good partnership with Nikita.

The group dance shows that every series needs ringers to make it entertaining. If we had 12 Ross King’s every year it wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did

Surprised any female ringers agree to sign up for the show with the amount of abuse they get for basically signing up to a Saturday night entertainment show. Ashley got loads in her series and some of the comments about Amber this year (on here especially but as well as other places) have been downright nasty

Male ringers don’t tend to get as much, especially if they dance with their top open 🙄

Buscobel · 24/11/2025 10:31

Jay and Aliona’s jive was the best.

Whatever you think about Neil, his rapport with fellow pros and his few partners, he has made a career over quite a long time, by being an also ran. He’s rarely had the stress of having a partner, but has kept himself employed whilst others have come and gone.

I prefer him doing Choreography Corner on ITT too.

PoppysAunt · 24/11/2025 10:35

I think there's a happy medium between Ross King and Lewis Cope.

We like him on Choreography Corner in our house too!

Also Bake Off: the Professionals. I love it, although I got fed up with the regular programme years ago.

It gives me lots of exciting ideas which I never put into practice.

It would be good to watch excellent dancers all the time and learn more about the various steps and so on, especially if they all did the same dance in a single show.

Wasn't that 'come dancing'?

ILikeStrictly · 24/11/2025 10:56

With celebrity ringers, though, not amateur dancers.

Why do they need to be celebrities if it's just about good dancing?

ILikeStrictly · 24/11/2025 12:23

Because we’re interested in them as celebrities first, famous for something else, who also have significant dance experience.

It’s the difference between the usual Traitors and the Celebrity Traitors.

I think I saw Chris wearing a boot on his right foot. A ligament or tendon injury

i read that its a 'bone bruise' from dancing in heels, and an MRI revealed should he keep dancing on it, it would progress to a stress fracture which would mean 6-8 weeks in plaster/a boot, which he can't afford to do with oncoming commitments.

i've had a foot stress fracture, it isn't nice, so i don't blame them for pulling him.

Ringertastic then!

I'm sure they've had folk like that on the xmas special before, they're not as picky, i get the impression they go for folk who want a go, but wouldn't be allowed on the main show.

Yes, it's more for a bit of festive fun.

Indigovelvet · 24/11/2025 12:42

Come back Aliona whereever you are!

Kreepture · 24/11/2025 12:42

As for the show dance Layton looks FAB.. thought he'd put a bit of weight on, but if you look, its all muscle.

Indigovelvet · 24/11/2025 12:44

Neil and Vito on Dianne's vlog yesterday - being very attentive and caring on the train with her.

WarrenTofficier · 24/11/2025 12:51

Part of what made Jay's jive iconic was the theme /vibe and how it total picked up on the look and feel of the movie which was a bit lacking in the recreation this weekend. Also the fact it was week 3 (either through nerves or a deliberate ploy) Jay had hidden his ringer-ness in the first couple of weeks so it was a real wow moment.
I know Jay danced a fair amount after Strictly but I've got no idea how much he has done in the last few years (I've not been conscious of him in any dance heavy rolls in the last few years but that doesn't mean he hasn't been dancing) so he might be a bit less 'match fit' than the other returnees.
