@Coffeeishot Yes, she's remained good friends with him and he invites her over for Sunday roasts with his family, which is sweet.

...........did you feel the same about Layton last year?

I did. I loved his dancing - he was outstanding. But I very much objected to his use of womanface in some of the dances he did with Nikita.

Or the male/male pairing the year before?

Meaning Johannes and John Waite? John Waite didn't dress up as a woman. So no. No issue with him.

Or is it just Chris you have an issue with?

It's womanface that I have an issue with, not Chris in particular.

You’re not alone in feeling this way as I feel exactly the same about woman-face & honestly can’t understand how anyone thinks it’s ok (other than the obvious ingrained misogyny that it’s ok for women to be parodied & made fun of!).

I watched Katya and Lewis interview on Loose Women the other day, and love that she said she didn't have any dud partners, as one of the interviewers put it, but contestants of different levels.

That’s why she’s so good as she can adapt her teaching to the skill level of her celebrity (unlike Anton who just used to ridicule his partners - love him as a judge bit hated him as a pro!)

But you are watching it, you are obviously entitled to your opinion but you could actually not watch it turn it over every single time la voix and Alijaz is on screen if it upsets you that much, but complainers don't it is like they enjoy martyrdom.

I’d love a roast dinner with Ed, Yvette and Katya!

If people do want to discuss extraneous issues surrounding Chris/La Voix that are not about the dancing (he/she drag/woman face) there is definitely a place for that on MN it’s called FWR. This is not the correct thread for that discussion. This is about a light entertainment program and the majority would like to keep it light. And I’m no fan of La Voix. Thanks.

Couldn’t bear Layton. Cocky. Sad he’s back as some sort of “icon”.

I think George has definitely been let down by the choreography - I felt particularly bad for him last night when Craig was moaning about it not being a rumba - that's not George's fault!!

It's nothing to do with martyrdom and everything to do with women's rights.

And there are more appropriate places to discuss that. @EineReiseDurchDieZeit has asked that these threads concentrate on the dancing.

Yep.
That was my cue for a wee break whenever Layton was up next.

Choux · 16/11/2025 18:34

I plan to just ignore any off topic posts and give no response. They will hopefully then just fox-trot off…

I do try but sometimes I am drawn in, which I shouldn't do.

I fast forward through their sections, despite loving Aliaz. That ok with you??!!!

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/11/2025 18:38

Ok, I have a question for people with more dance knowledge than me. I used to notice that Layton was ever so slightly ahead of Nikita at times and then I noticed this again with Lewis in the CC that he did a couple of weeks ago. Should dancers be slightly off the beat?

Yes, exactly

Coffeeishot · 16/11/2025 18:30

I watch because I enjoy the dancing and the competition.
The vast majority of the competitors and professional dancers do not employ womanface. If they did, I wouldn't watch Strictly, just as I don't watch programmes which showcase drag. Drag is abhorrent to me.

If they are ahead of/behind the beat they are making a mistake. The trouble with Layton WAS the fact that he was a ringer with extensive dance experience he wouldn’t be told by ANYONE and frequently admitted he had ignored how Nikita told him to do it. He didn’t take either critique or instruction well at all and that in a nutshell is why I didn’t like him.
