Honestly, I like Balvinder - and I massively agree that Shirley in particular is undermarking her. But she isn't particularly good , she has gone as far as she could expect to go ,and she doesn't really look like she is enjoying herself, especially compared to Vicky and La Voix who are feeling the Strictly joy. I am not sure George seems to be having fun either. Many viewers find La Voix very entertaining, it seems.

xsquared · 16/11/2025 16:17

George hasn't really had a wow dance, and is just coasting on his popularity. I blame Alexis though, as her choreography hasn't really showcased him for a while now. They didn't meet the brief last night either.

He, but especially Alex's, need to up their game or we'll just end up with a meh winner.

Coffeeishot · 16/11/2025 16:19

I do think Balvinder is enjoying herself she is just a bit more stoic about it, I don't think her and Vicky are comparable, Ialso think vicky finds it stressful and that's why she jumps about and screams as a release, but it really is unnecessary.

I am not at all sure that people who shriek the loudest feel the joy though. Bal may be one of nature's private people, who prefer not dragging out their family and boring on about their journeys while yelping and weeping.

Also pairing with a new and gauche pro is never easy.

But she played the dead mum card last week!!’

Pps I hear you on not derailing the thread about LV but something in my gut is along the lines of "but will an actual woman lose out on Blackpool"...like Bal basically. Women losing a place to someone who is a man but is in the place of a woman. I can't really put it into words but I feel something to that effect.

Please don't flame me, I can't explain it properly. It should be a competition for the glitterball not balls with glitter

did you feel the same about Layton last year? Or the male/male pairing the year before?

Or is it just Chris you have an issue with?

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 16/11/2025 16:57

I still enjoy watching George, but he’s definitely lost some of the oomph he started with. It was a gentle oomph to be sure, he’s no Lewis, but his dancing was good, he had plenty of potential and really seemed to be loving it. Something’s gone awry somewhere, and I can’t work out what it is.

Also slightly wondering if he and Alexis aren’t putting the work in because they’re more focused on each other than the dancing… but I could be wrong about that Confused

Alexis is married.

@xsquared
That puts paid to that theory then Grin

I think Alexis is just a rubbish teacher / choreographer. If he’d been paired with Katya, Oti (wish she was back!) or Jowita, then I’d imagine we’d see a much better dancer & he’d have an amazing journey!

Oh did she? I take it back then. 😆 Too many dead mums for sure. I draw the line at dead nans though!
I wish VTs would focus on the actual teaching and choreo.

EsmaCannonball · 16/11/2025 17:20

Alexis is not only married but a Mormon and potentially quite a traditionalist about these things. Of course, neither being married nor a Mormon precludes people from having affairs, especially with whatever it is they put in the water on Strictly.

Aren't all the Mormon wives on drugs and into husband swapping 😳 Dd watches the programme apparently that is what they get up to !

Sometimes it takes a few series for the new pros to settle in.
Carlos seems really into his stride now (and no rubber gloves so far, phew!)
Jowita hit the ground running with Hamza.

It's not the first time we've had a situation where it feels set up to drive a specific contestant to Blackpool at the expense of a couple of other contestants going a week or two earlier along the way. It's irritating while it's in progress, but it doesn't tend to shift long term outcomes on who reaches the semis.

Coffeeishot · 16/11/2025 17:25

I don't understand new Pros when thay bench the Professionals they have is it just to liven things up ?

NowNumber5 · 16/11/2025 17:28

Best pro debut was OG Kai (pre Turkey Teef) with AJ.
They were on fire from their first dance, which also happened to be the new series opening dance.

Yes, they were fantastic!
I also liked Katya's debut with Ed Balls
Her mad genius choreo was so entertaining.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/11/2025 17:48

I have enjoyed La Voix and feel she has added to proceedings

Argh! He's a man FFS.

That was an absolutely classic pairing, what a fantastic debut for Katya!

Agreed. This is absolutely tiresome.

xsquared · 16/11/2025 17:56

I watched Katya and Lewis interview on Loose Women the other day, and love that she said she didn't have any dud partners, as one of the interviewers put it, but contestants of different levels.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/11/2025 17:56

...........did you feel the same about Layton last year?

I did. I loved his dancing - he was outstanding. But I very much objected to his use of womanface in some of the dances he did with Nikita.

Or the male/male pairing the year before?

Meaning Johannes and John Waite? John Waite didn't dress up as a woman. So no. No issue with him.

Or is it just Chris you have an issue with?

It's womanface that I have an issue with, not Chris in particular.

Yes I watched them she comes over really well , she said on something else that Ed balls is like her English Dad which i thought was really sweet.
