I got bored a couple of threads ago by people carrying on about drag and woman face and what pronouns should be used, and I don't think I was alone. @EineReiseDurchDieZeit asked people not to derail the discussion with it. Can't we just discuss the dancing?

I get that but I'll never accept drag. It's a send-up of women.

But the entertainment is mostly coming from scripted comedy lines in extra screen time and the now weekly performance with the judges. There is nothing very entertaining in most of the dance performances (with one or two exceptional weeks).

If you compare Chris/LaVoix to other stand ups who have done well - Bill Bailey and Chris McCausland - they both did the odd quick riposte to Craig and made some great one liners and other quips which was fun. For the first couple of weeks or so this is what I thought we would get with Chris and he was very funny. However neither Bill nor Chris were given regular extra screen time with scripted comedy routines or the weekly extended judging to hug Shirley and do a bit of stand up plus the routines themselves have become repetitive.

If all the celebs were allowed to have so much extra scripted screen time in the show perhaps they would do better. We could have scripted skits at the lighting desk etc delivered by Balvinder or others instead. It just creates an overall sense of the show being fixed and not in a subtle way.

Yes, it's utterly blatant.
Outrageous that they're doing this, and with the weakest dancer.

I don't like the fixing and the manipulation that the judges seem to be pushing, agreed.

And all the dead relatives.
Mind you, they've done that for years.

It's very harsh on whoever goes this week but usual form is whoever has been adopted for the 'must get to Blackpoo'l narrative then gets dropped and leaves either at Blackpool or the week after.

It feels worse this year, much more full on X factor. Mind you considering I have literally no memory of anyone's stories (except Chris for obvious reasons) from last year, I probably said that then too!

People take this show far too seriously, it’s Saturday night light entertainment not the Olympics 🙄

I think it can be, but not always.

I have little lived experience (to use a cliche) of this but have worked on a couple of productions of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and one of Kinky Boots, in which the drag queens were played by straight and by gay men, some of whom had their own costumes (presumably because they performed as drag queens elsewhere) and others who didn’t.

None of them were sending up women.

The biggest reason not to get caught up in the pronoun discussion, with LaVoix/Chris, is that I don’t think he’s at all interested which we use.

We can all use any. So it’s fine. It’s been refreshing that he swapped in and out, but it’s not done his dancing any good at all.

I don’t really mind who goes now, but want Karen, George and Alex to stay. Ideally Bal, too. I genuinely don’t care about Amber and Lewis. I prefer Amber as a personality, as I find Lewis a bit cocky, but Lewis and his partner have the better dances, imo. LaVoix isn’t good enough to stay, and ultimately I don’t think Bal is either though she’s definitely been unfairly marked by the judges.

It’s so uneven, the judging. As though they are using different criteria for each couple.

I’m so over Nikita getting his chest out. I haven’t liked him much this year.

Watching back and yes, Lewis is indeed streets ahead of everyone.

Vicky’s jive was a poor week 1 or week 2 performance at best. It was awful and definitely didn’t deserve 7s

I would be quite happy if one of Vicky, Bal or Karen goes tonight. It won’t be Karen but just can’t take to her at all, but she is more watchable than Vicky and her screeching
