I think the suggestion is that dancers are less likely to be eliminated on a couple's choice.

Yes, this is what usually happens. He's not done a CC, he's allowed to. I think they should get rid of it, imo, but there we are.

Couples choice seems to be the go to in order to ensure a good mark

it used to be good when a couple of the contestants did the same dance on the same week early on so you could compare apples with apples

I agree , C C is just for good marks and no DO you can't send a couple home after their couples choice. They should do dance partner swaps or something like they do in DWTS and scrap couples choice all together.
