I"ll start with Victoria Coren Mitchell, I think she'd be amazing at playing the game and I like her sharp wit

That's not what I meant at all.

She writes wonderful scripts. And FWIW she is one of my absolute favourite actresses.

However, when I have seen her in interviews, she strikes me as slightly hesitant about giving of herself (as would I be) in the sense that I get the feeling she prefers to hide behind a script rather than share too much of herself with the public.

That isn't a criticism of her at all; in fact she strikes me as someone who is in her career for the art itself, rather than relishing the idea of her moment in the limelight.

You will notice I also said upthread I don't think Hugh Grant would do it either, which I don't.

Have you seen Emma T on QI?

SwedishEdith · 09/11/2025 11:45

Absolutely no to Rylan and Katie Price types. They are what I see as "celebs" rather than famous through genuine talent. Stick them on ITV celeb programmes 😄

And I really wouldn't watch with any politicians trying to rehabilitate themselves and rebuild their reputations (Truss, Johnson, Hancock) or any professionally divisive gobshites (Burchill, Hitchins). What made this series work was that they were all successful in their field and genuinely famous (to a particular audience) for being talented. Not famous for simply being famous.

I don't think either of them would either, but I was thinking more in terms of who people would like to see on the show rather than trying to predict who will be on it

Harry Styles
Ruth Wilson and Idris Elba
Stormzy
Ian Mckellan though he’s a bit frail for the challenges.

I have, and she is great - though that is a more contained setting.

I am perhaps not conveying my impressions well - or perhaps we just think differently on it. Maybe what I really mean is I don't think either of those celebrities are really in need of the exposure. Of course, for some people taking part would "float their boat" regardless, but I guess it's more that I wouldn't do it in their positions.

RosePetalsRose · 09/11/2025 12:36

Simon cowell,
kylie
Louis walsh

Linford Christie
Sarah Calwood
David Beckham
Rebecca Loos

I'd love to see an author in there too. Just to mix it up a bit!

I would too, especially an author who has a famous name but not a famous face. That might throw some celebs slightly off-balance. A few might even wonder if the author was really who they claimed to be, or there was some kind of "Chantelle from Big Brother" trick going on.

Purplebunnie · 09/11/2025 10:15

Someone up thread mentioned perhaps having an author - Michael Morpurgo? The current poet laurate is a Simon Armitage, I know nothing about his poetry but perhaps some poetry could add/detract from all the musings round the table and whilst talking of Armitages how about Richard Armitage

As already mentioned
Joanna Lumley
Jennifer Saunders
Dawn French

I don't think have been mentioned but could be wrong
Susan Calman
Shappi Khorsandi
Matt Tebbutt
George Alagiah
Ian Hislop

Tennant has to be a faithful, it would piss him off if he wasn't a traitor

Edited for appalling grammar

Edited

Sadly, George Alagiah is no longer with us. It would have been interesting to cast him against type as a traitor.

Jeremy Clarkson was my first thought. He’d be entertaining but sadly I think short lived as he wouldn’t be able to play the game tactically and will just shoot his mouth off.

I know I made a mistake, I've explained up thread. I can't always remember who is no longer with us, the list for me as I get older gets longer and longer

I think he'd definitely provide entertainment! And I'd think he'd be up for it too.

John Nettles

Susie Dent

Sandi Tosvig

Joanna Lumley

Jo Whiley

Lee Mack

Mika

Peter Crouch

Lewis Hamilton

PerfunctoryFunk · 09/11/2025 13:16

Peter Crouch would be fabulous. It needs people who don't take themselves too seriously.

Bob Mortimer

Definitely 😀

CloudyGladys · 09/11/2025 13:48

As well as a mix of ages and characters, it needs some people who know each other already, preferably from years ago.

Graham Norton
Mike Tindall
Dave Arch from Strictly.

Also, Alan Carr in a cameo role. Perhaps have a gallery of pictures of previous traitors and swap him in as a living portrait.

theministerscat · 09/11/2025 14:30

Sue Perkins please!

VanillaImpulse · 09/11/2025 14:51

Katie Hopkins!

I think Graham Norton would be interesting too.

SyntheticFluff · 09/11/2025 16:24

Paul Hollywood: I can't bear him but I think if he was in it he'd be desperate to be a traitor so have him as a faithful. I'm sure he'd be strutting around like he's the new 'big dog' 😝and would spend his time giving everyone a steely glares thinking well, it worked for Joe Marler.

Would love to see Richard E Grant on it and I think he would maybe do it as well!

Rainbowcat77 · 09/11/2025 17:35

Paul Hollywood
Rose Ayling Ellis

Tom Read Wilson

Did each celebrity get the same money for going on to the show?

Yes. £40000 apparently.
