I’ll admit I didn’t know it either 🫣 I’m a similar age to Minah and Wilf, also state-educated, maybe it’s that 🥲

I suspect it's more likely age related - i studied Romeo and Juliet at (state) school, and had to memorise quotes for my exams. I'm older than them though.

Lampzade · 30/10/2025 12:28

JoeMarlerseyes · 30/10/2025 09:42

thats where she lost me. not knowing HM is just odd.

My dd is nearly 23 , very intelligent , loves
movies , has travelled extensively
. I asked her if she knew who Helen Mirren was
She said ‘ No, why ,is she dead?’
So it is not a surprise that Cat may not know who Helen Mirren is
I honestly think that some posters are being harsh on Cat because she is a woman

I never studied Romeo and Juliet, in fact I don’t think I did any Shakespeare at school, but I knew it. Alan said that he didn’t know it so I don’t think it’s age.

If I heard someone say they hadn’t slept a wink or someone was made of sterner stuff or referred to someone as their own flesh and blood I wouldn’t think they were quoting Shakespeare.

My niece is 17. I asked her just now if she knows who Helen Mirren is.

She said yes.

I am not harsh on her. I just don't believe her.

The game is the traitors. They all lie a lot.

I'm not being harsh on Cat because she is a woman, but because she seems to me under-informed and incurious, and also rather passive. I think the producers could have made a better casting decision if they wanted someone young. She's remarkably beautiful and has a lovely speaking voice, but I don't think she's bringing anything else.

Maybe Niko would have been better TV if he'd stayed, though it's hard to imagine him without the Beta Squad. Ruth, whether or not you liked her, was a lively player who made moves.

Piknik · 30/10/2025 13:16

Ruth was unpleasant though. She wasn't calculating or unpleasant in a clever, devious way - she just came across as bitter, miserable and angry.

Cat is dull but she is playing a decent game. Agree she is not knowledgable but she has a strategy. I don't particularly want her to win though, and I don't want Alan to with either - he has shown a spiteful side that has really made me not like him much (see also Tom Daly)

I'd like Nick to win. Or Celia - although I do wonder if there is something going on with Celia (I hope she is not some sort of Seer though).

I wish Paloma and Niko had lasted longer - I think they would have been good players.

ChannelLightVessel · 30/10/2025 13:26

DD (16) and I (53) both knew the quotation: we both did “Romeo and Juliet” for GCSE 🤷‍♀️

LondonPapa · 30/10/2025 13:33

Autumngirl5 · 30/10/2025 12:09

I realise I sound mean but Cat is boring. Imagine if they were all like that!

I agree. Either the edit is bad for her or she’s really that boring. ADHD / Autism aside, I’d expect more from her as I’d have thought the game element would’ve set her off to get really crafty but it’s just been meh as if she’s the complete wrong choice for the show.

I don't think Cat does have a strategy, though. I think she's flown under the radar because of other people's assumptions about her, because she's so much younger and so much less famous than everyone else still in, rather than because of anything she's doing herself. (Or, if she's a fascinating character, she's being done a real disservice by the edit.)

I don't think Ruth was at all unpleasant. She was often discomfitingly direct, but that's her style of humour -- if you saw her on Uncloaked, you'll recognise she was doing the same thing with Ed (the joke about her unwell dog having died when she was in the castle). And she didn't like Jonathan Ross, and that stood out far more strongly in a programme where there's a lot more pussyfooting around and luvvyish complimenting 'I'm voting for you because you're so clever and would be an excellent traitor, darling!') than in the non-celebrity version. I think that her directness was regarded more harshly because she was a young woman, and also because she was Irish.

I agree that Alan's spite seems to be emerging more in the edit. He was hilariously off-kilter at the start, sweating and blurting and all of a dither, but weirdly, with the return of his confidence seems to have come a big helping of default bitchiness. Is this who is actually is, when not knocked off-balance?

Yes, I do wish Paloma and Niko had lasted longer, too.

Bunnycat101 · 30/10/2025 14:09

I genuinely can’t work out if Kate is a bit dim or playing an absolute blinder by pretending to be ditzy. I don’t believe anyone can get on in journalism/broadcasting like she has without having a tough skin so i’m quite interested to see where she ends up.

I did too at state school but then DS 15 also is. I wonder if there was a brief period where Shakespeare wasn’t studied? He’s doing Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth.

manineed · 30/10/2025 14:22

We definitely did Shakespeare (remember watching the Baz lurman r and j) but I can’t remember if that was GCSE year or not. I got an A in English so must have been paying attention at the time, just can’t recall or remember a thing sixteen years later.

Delatron · 30/10/2025 14:22

Marvelftw · 30/10/2025 09:56

She led the charge, really? 😂 Have you forgotten about Joe?

Yes that’s true but he’s always been mentioning Jonathan. This was completely out of character for her - she brought him up at the round table. Maybe when they were discussing others. To bring the heat back on him as he’s escaped so many times. He looked shocked.

Led the charge maybe was the wrong expression but maintained the heat on him definitely.

Think you’re brushing over a lot of things. Cat always mentioned that she believed it was either Ross or Stephen following the big dog theory. After Stephen left and was proved to be a faithful she couldn’t really double down on what she had been saying before. Celia also approached her and others earlier in the day to say they needed to now rally together to get Jonathan, as a traitor it would have definitely been noticed if she had back pedalled on him and suddenly started trying to point the finger over to someone else. Ross would have understood this is what traitors have to do to survive at a certain point in the game. It’s also why he said he was happy that Alan Carr also wrote his name down at the round table.

Although she had been solidly behind the Big Dogs at the roundtable to keep voting for SF, so it was natural she would switch from SF to JR after SF had revealed himself to be faithful.

Not brushing over those things at all. I was merely saying this was the first time she had (off her own back) brought him up at the round table! Hence he looked shocked. And it was unlike her. Has she done this with anyone else?

I was talking about the round table not the discussions at other times.

Yes - I expected her to do it more like Alan though but fair play to her. She is playing a blinding game .

Edited

Ok I thought she was pretty quiet and everyone had commented on that. I know she agreed with the big dog theory and had said that but that’s all.

Maybe I’ve misremembered and she has been vocal round the table. I might have to rewatch. It seemed out of character for her to be so decisive on one player but maybe she has been leading the discussions all along round the table.

Talking about dull, most people come off better on Uncloaked.
Not Lucy. For a comedian, she's really wet
and boring.

People are allowed to be quiet though.

How many of us would be loud and funny if we were being interviewed?

A lot of us would be shy and quiet

ThePoshUns · 30/10/2025 15:48

But Lucy is purportedly a comedian. Surely it is in her interest to be funny if not in the main show but at least in uncloaked.

Holluschickie · 30/10/2025 15:50

Lucy needn't be ha ha funny, but why moan on about feeling betrayed and how the Traitors were remorseless...
