Its a “theory of leadership” which only recognises one type of leader - male and prestigious and older.

Jonathan was spot on and I’m glad he highlighted the others who were just as eligible for that title if lazy assumptions hadn’t defaulted to the two most visible older men. They missed more than one chance to banish Ross when Joe’s hectoring style just turned people off and they ended up voting for someone else.

The Big Dog theory came from Joe W who has been kicking about in TV long enough to know how producers work. They knew that Jonathan and Stephen would become the de facto leaders simply because they are both older men, experienced in TV and have very established careers. His logic, which was sound, was that either Jonathan or Stephen would have been made a traitor because it’s the logical thing that the tv producers would do.

And now I’ve typed all that I’ve forgotten the point I was making.

I am also wondering if it may be staged. They all can’t surely be that bad. The way David had 5 votes one round table (or thereabouts) and Mark was voted out and was a Faithful. At no point did everyone then go back to David!! He was discounted from there on.

Equally how is Kate still in!

And Cat being so quiet yet never suspected. And how long Jonathan lasted despite all the suspicion.

I hope I’m wrong and they just are really bad Faithfuls.

That does seem to be one of the quirks of the celebrity version — that there can be extreme suspicion of someone at one or more round tables, which then evaporates completely, eg Kate and David. It’s particularly odd that David got five votes at the round table where Mark was banished, and by the next one, all such suspicion seemed to have been largely forgotten. I don’t think that would have happened in the ‘normal’ version.

(Incidentally, if, as I understand, they filmed the usual non-celebrity Traitors UK Season 3 at around the same time as the celebrity series, but it’s not being shown until after Christmas, there are a lot of contestants having to keep schtum for a longer period than usual between filming and broadcast.)

She very much led the charge on Jonathan- though most people were on board with her. And since she’s normally so quiet people really listened. Great tactics from her though to be fair. That reduces suspicion on her even further….

Alan did just seem to go along with it reluctantly.

She led the charge, really? 😂 Have you forgotten about Joe?

Florencesndzebedee · 30/10/2025 09:56

The quote would seem a bit contrived and suspicious coming from Cat whereas Alan is used to hamming it up so that was the right choice.
I don’t think cat is dim but she needs to be a bit more vocal now otherwise suspicion will start to fall more heavily on her.
There are sometimes some really useless faithfuls left at the end. It can pay to be ditzy a la Kate Garraway.

weegielass · 30/10/2025 10:08

I wonder if some celebs said "I'll take part if I'm a traitor/faithful/winner" which would explain the big names and why some are still surviving. I do wish they'd each been able to say which charity they were playing for so viewers can donate 'in memory'. That would have been a really good tactic to get more viewers etc.

I imagine the dinner will, instead of it being the part where everyone is filmed telling one another about their lives and what they’d do with the money, as in the non-celebrity version, instead be the part where people identify which charity they’re playing for, and maybe why they chose that one.

TwoDrifters2 · 30/10/2025 10:15

Celia has put both Cat and Alan on the spot now, by directly asking them if they’re traitors and maintaining piercing eye contact throughout.

Where I think Cat and Alan both went wrong in their response to her is that they both went down the “No, honestly I’m not, I’m really not” route but then left it there. A true faithful would then say: “But are you? How do I know you’re not a traitor?” but neither of them did that, because of course they already know she’s a faithful.

If I was Celia, I would be highly suspicious of both of them for not having asked the question straight back at her.

weegielass · 30/10/2025 10:18

She's great, very clever, very funny, Celia for the win!

Holluschickie · 30/10/2025 10:28

Glad we didn't have The Seer thing. Ruined last season for me.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/10/2025 10:42

I absolutely loved last night's episode, I think it was the best of the series. Even the task was quite gripping and looked actually difficult.

Am gutted that Jonathan went because he's been such an excellent player, but it was just inevitable in the end.

Poor old Alan! He does squirm a little bit when cornered. Celia is definitely onto him after that cosy chat in the library Grin Grin. He's got no choice but to murder her really, I only hope he thinks of the excellent suggestion by a pp on the thread that he does a whole round of toasts at the table so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm always on the side of the Traitors when I watch this show, always want them to get through and win. It's the same this time and it would be my perfect outcome if Alan and Cat could win it together, they are both very lovable, but I fear Cat will turn (before Alan anyway).

So glad they aren't recruiting again, what a relief.

I've never liked Paloma and like her even less now. It's a game for goodness sake.

I can understand her. She wanted the experience. No one wants to go out on the first night. And Alan was someone she thought was a friend.

If I went in with my friend and he murdered me on the first night. I would be pissed

Its a game but I would still be annoyed.

I probably wouldnt say that i was annoyed publicly though as I would have the savvy to know it woukd make me look bad

gingercat02 · 30/10/2025 10:47

I have just written a really long post and my stupid phone restarted!
Anyway
It's been obvious that Cat and Alan would turn on JR
His speech was perfect Jonathan 👌
I would like Kate to be murdered but agree the Shakespeare quote is really difficult to deliver unless you're a NT actor. I think whoever does it will be outsed next because it will have to be shoehorned in.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/10/2025 10:52

Cat is not dim!!

Minto111 · 30/10/2025 10:53

It doesnt really matter if it is more difficult for Cat to give the speech.

The traitors are not playing as a team, they are ultimately playing for themselves.

So Alan could have insisted that Cat did it. As it would put more suspicion on Cat.

However Cat is more clever. She says things like "I can't do this. You are the only that can do this" to Alan. To make him do it

I also don't think that she knows so little about Shakespeare/culture/actors as she pretends to.

WonderfulSmith · 30/10/2025 11:02

I’ve just listened to Uncloaked bonus and neither Minah or Wilf knew the saying either. I’m staggered at all the people who don’t know it. It’s not something I’d say every day but it’s certainly a phrase I know and understand.

I wonder what would happen if they just refused to do it? I would be tempted to go down this route

I understand that no one wants to go out at the beginning but, obviously, someone has to.

Alan chose Paloma because they were friends so touching her face would not look or seem strange.

According to some newspapers they are no longer friends. I hope that is not true because if it is then she is sad and nasty

applesandpinkoranges · 30/10/2025 11:20

I think Joe and Nick will stick together.

If Celia is murdered, Cat has made herself vulnerable. There is bound to be a female traitor and it will be only her and Kate left. And I don’t think the faithful believe Kate could be traitor anymore.

dapsnotplimsolls · 30/10/2025 11:22

I think Celia or Kate will be murdered because they're unlikely to be banished

I don’t think that anyone is going to think that way. We know that there is always one woman now but I don’t think I would be thinking about that at the time.

I’ll admit I didn’t know it either 🫣 I’m a similar age to Minah and Wilf, also state-educated, maybe it’s that 🥲

Autumngirl5 · 30/10/2025 12:09

To be fair she didnt know who Helen Mirren was either so I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s not heard that saying.

There are a lot of common sayings that originate from Shakespeare that people use today - you don't have to know the origin. Just because Celia is a Shakespearian actress it does't mean she should be the victim. However, it would be in caracter for Alan to make the toast in a flowery way, and out of character for Cat to do so. For all those saying that it's not fare and Cat should do it - the game is Traitors, not "Fair Play".

If you are interested, here is a list of 40 words and phrases in common use that originate in Shakespeare's works... there are many more. inews.co.uk/culture/william-shakespeare-quotes-phrases-plays-465th-birthday-today-3210

I think Cat does know who Helen Mirren is.

Acting dumb is part of Cat's gameplay
