Ross and Rachel

OP posts:

Den and Angie were so toxic. I was surprised they were allowed to adopt Sharon to be honest. Anyone could tell they were not ideal parent material, but must have been good at hoodwinking the authorities ( or Den paid them off somehow )

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 21:28

Catherine and Heathcliff.

AutumnAllTheWay · 19/10/2025 21:32

The twits 😜

Glad someone else remembered them I was worried I was too old😆 plus the fact he got his daughters best mate pregnant !

Den really did groom Michelle didn’t he;(
I doubt a lot of his story lines would be even written these days !!

This 1000%! You could tell the scriptwriters were running out of ideas when they put those two together. And even they seemed to realise it, judging by how the storyline panned out.

(Close runner-up: Phoebe and Mike. Never in a million years would those two have made a marriage work.)

Edited

Agree, it fizzled out so quickly, such a weak storyline

I personally dont like Paul rudd 😄 so I agree

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 21:41

Can’t remember their names, but the ‘ cold feet’ people put two together who seemed wrong ! I only ever dipped in and out of this show sobiyd vague.

I’ve been watching EE since it started! My friends and family think I’m mad , but the mumsnet threads keep us all going ! Lol

Jimmy/Saul and Kim from Better Call Saul. The actors had zero chemistry at all. Amazing show but if hated them as a couple.

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 21:47

I liked Kim in ‘better call Saul’ , but I agree they were a strange disjointed couple !

There are worse ways to be in a marriage! Mates first lovers second. A lot of marriages dont manage either!

That's true! But for a screen couple you'd expect some chemistry. I just get "bants" energy from those two.

Ron and Hermione. That was probably the biggest disappointment of my literary childhood. I could never understand why she wanted to depict the brilliant, ambitious, intelligent girl settling for the guy that not only wasn’t on her level but also that regularly treated her like crap. What sort of example is that setting for girls?? Not to mention that they were all 17 at the end of the series and none of them needed to be pairing up for life at that age. Hmm

Thankfully I have a brilliant father who read the books because I liked them and told me in no uncertain terms that Ron wasn’t good enough for Hermione, didn’t treat her with respect, and that I should never settle like she did. Gotta love my dad. 😁

I’ve just noticed this is in the television section but Harry Potter has been made into so many different types of media at this point that it fits anywhere.

I agree with you on all points but will raise you Harry and Ginny bloody Weasley.

I got it in the books but even then....but the actress who played her in the films had the personality of a wet lettuce.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 19/10/2025 19:21

The parents in Outnumbered. Useless as parents and a useless couple!

They're together in real life now.

Yep. Ginny was bland and couldn't act.

Jaime and Cersei Lannister

John Snow and Danerys

Katniss and Peeta

He was a terrible match for her. Really lame casting too.

Bipitybopitybo · 19/10/2025 22:14

Cathy and heathcliff

ana and Christian grey

Adam and Karen? Yeah that was awful and killed Cold Feet for me. Although it should never have been brought back after ending so perfectly in the 00s. The vibe was never the same in the remake.

ladygindiva · 19/10/2025 22:36

Jayne Eyre and Rochester.

WigglywagglyWanda · 19/10/2025 22:48

Im traumatised.

Never watched the later Cold Feets, ADAM and KAREN?

What the actual fuck

I know.
Not only did they never, ever have any even mild spark of attraction she was Rachel's best friend FFS.

I think I read that it didn't last but I'd stopped watching by then and was just pretending it ended after Rachel's perfect funeral.

Lavenderandbrown · 19/10/2025 23:54

Dr Noah Carter and Dr Susan Lewis

StElwicksNeighbourhoodAssociation · 20/10/2025 00:03

Rick and Michonne. I never got any chemistry between them. He got with Andrea in the comic books I believe, which I think was much more believable.

ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird · 20/10/2025 08:41

Dorothea and Casaubon in Middlemarch.

Obvs they are meant to be ill-suited but it is still horribly painful to read.

(I misunderstood the thread in an earlier post - i thought it was about horrible couples rather than ill-suited ones.)
