You got thar from the books? Ron was a lot better to and for her than harry.

Edited

Yeah, if you’ve just seen the movies then reading the books might be surprising as the movies obviously didn’t include it (can’t tell by your comment if that’s what you mean). Ron is pretty awful to her at multiple points, including negging her and implying things about her when she’s interested in someone else.

As I said, none of them needed to be paired. They were friends fighting evil in a children’s series!

The mum and dad in Cocomelon

Mr and Mrs Brooklyn Bell from Waffle Dog

The least believable married couple for me are Tom and Joyce Barnaby in Midsomer Murders. Their entire marriage consists of her giving him breakfast, him solving the murders that happen at her art class or choir practice and the pair of them reading in bed with their pyjamas buttoned to the neck..

sorry you’re all wrong

Nikki and Jack in Violent Shitness

where chemistry goes to die.

Came on here to say this. So many utterly bonkers storylines and yet it is their relationship that strains credulity the most in that show.

Ron and Hermione. That was probably the biggest disappointment of my literary childhood. I could never understand why she wanted to depict the brilliant, ambitious, intelligent girl settling for the guy that not only wasn’t on her level but also that regularly treated her like crap. What sort of example is that setting for girls?? Not to mention that they were all 17 at the end of the series and none of them needed to be pairing up for life at that age. Hmm

Thankfully I have a brilliant father who read the books because I liked them and told me in no uncertain terms that Ron wasn’t good enough for Hermione, didn’t treat her with respect, and that I should never settle like she did. Gotta love my dad. 😁

I’ve just noticed this is in the television section but Harry Potter has been made into so many different types of media at this point that it fits anywhere.

Your dad sounds lovely 😊

Andrew Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. They can't be real.
I think they were a couple of characters in a TV soap, although I can't recall the name of the programme. Was it Family Affairs, or The Young Ones, or The Good Life - oh no, I think that one hss just been expunged now.

Okiedokie123 · 19/10/2025 19:59

Angie and Den! (Showing my age!)

edit because I can see others have commented “worst” as in not believable, none chemistry whereas I was thinking - never quit arguing, clearly don’t get on well. They spoiled a Christmas Day for many with 30 minutes of Angie and Den arguing!

FionnulaTheCooler · 19/10/2025 20:01

Homer and Marge. Surely no real woman would put up with that useless, thick oaf who spends every night boozing with his loser pals. You'd hope not anyway.

Exactly. Heroine was an alpha female Ron was absolutely not an alpha male. She would never have married him

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 20:05

Agree that Ron and Hermoine : wrong wrong wrong

I love your dad's attitude!

I didn't mind Herminone and Ron from a first love in war time perspective but I hate the epilogue with a passion!

Mayismymonth · 19/10/2025 20:08

Bill Sykes and Nancy

Rachel and Joey

This 1000%! You could tell the scriptwriters were running out of ideas when they put those two together. And even they seemed to realise it, judging by how the storyline panned out.

(Close runner-up: Phoebe and Mike. Never in a million years would those two have made a marriage work.)

the80sweregreat · 19/10/2025 20:09

Poor Nancy ! I hate the scene in the Oliver film when he kills her .. so sad

ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird · 19/10/2025 20:15

Harvey and Val Denton of Royston Vasey (in The League of Gentlemen)

JaneJeffer · 19/10/2025 20:28

I’m sure the Chesil Beach scenario happened a lot though

CryOverSpilledIrnBru · 19/10/2025 20:33

Captain Von Trapp and Maria...I mean the baroness was 🔥 and yet he went for the Nun with terrible clothes and haircut?!

Rachel and Joey has always made me cringe hard.

Movie Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley 🤢 just no.

I think they were supposed to be a "bad couple." Fagin was Nancy's original pimp (you can assume when she was the same age as Oliver), then he has turned her over to Bill Sykes.

In fact calling them a couple at all is pretty grim.

JustOnePersonNotAnOctopus · 19/10/2025 20:42

Rory Gilmore and literally all her boyfriends.

How very dare you, Jeffrey and Ann were clearly far worse, the snobs.

Ann was nice and so was the kid, but Jeffrey was a total knob I agree.

GoldenPineapple15 · 19/10/2025 20:46

Dev and Bernie in Corrie .

Sourisblanche · 19/10/2025 20:47

Miss Piggy and Kermit.

They were freaks but very well suited.

BlueRidgeMountain · 19/10/2025 20:50

Phoebe and Mike. She should have stuck with the hot scientist guy who went to Minsk.
