I find Celia really annoying. She's not very clever (but she thinks she is) and she also is just an identikit mash up of every single ancient British actress I have ever worked with.

RosieLeaLovesTea · 18/10/2025 14:22

Why us Jonathan Ross denying that he said in the car that he are making an alliance when Ruth said it and Clare was a witness!!!! He has denied it several times.

TakeMeToAnIgloo · 18/10/2025 14:28

Because he didn't say it. They showed the clip on uncloacked - he lightly referred to himself and Clare as 'old allies' in the sens of 'we will be your friends because you don't know anyone', but it was obviously not an alliance of the four of them meaning that they'd never vote each other off. I can't believe she really would have thought that if could mean they'd never vote for each other. They didn't even know who the traitors were then. it was just him being nice to someone new, which is why he didn't even remember saying anything like that later. I do think he could have explained better by saying that if he'd said anything like that, it was just being nice. I'm more surprised that Clare stuck to agreeing with her, because she also would have been included in this apparent alliance.

I went back and watched ep 1/first half of 2 as I'd missed them originally. The burial stuff was quite macabre. I felt for Kate, with her husband having recently died, but I suppose the team must have pre-briefed her?

I really liked Ruth. I thought she was very funny and true. I agree that Cat is playing a blinder and would quite like her to win. Her and Nick M - such a sweet unassuming man. Loved the little bit we saw of him doing the puzzle on the trojan horse task. Loved watching Charlotte too in the banshee task and hearing her beautiful voice recreate the wails in perfect tune Grin! I also think David O comes across as a decent person but he's probably too quiet/shy to win.

TakeMeToAnIgloo · 18/10/2025 14:51

I like Cat and Nick too. Can't both win, sadly, unless Nick gets recruited - maybe I need to start hoping for that!

Mydogisagentleman · 18/10/2025 14:53

Joe Wilkinson is my not remotely secret ideal man. Nick is practically perfect and I would love to see Cat win.
I'm one of the only people who doesn't see the appeal of Celia, I'm hugely irritated by Kate.

Ancient?? She’s 73. And hilarious. What a joyless perspective you hold.

I think she is in character she is ‘on’ all the time

i I love Joe, Joe, Nick, and cat

i think Jonathan will go soon unless he gets a traitor out. Joe or Nick would be good traitors.

They’ve done graveyard/coffin stuff in previous series (wasn’t there one where people were buried alive in coffins?? I think I’d have had to just quit!), and the whole show has a premise of people being “murdered” so I imagine she knew what sort of thing might be expected, even if she wasn’t briefed.

They played it back on unclocked. He never said they were making an alliance. He said alliances were a good idea and when Ruth and Nick replied they didn’t know anyone he said well you know us now. (Jonathon and Celia) I think he was trying to be kind to them but didn’t view it as an alliance being made.

Completely agree. Claire said something about alliances being easier for the people who knew other people, and Niko and Ruth both went “oh we don’t know anyone” in a sort of “well that’s us scuppered then!” kind of way. And JR was just being nice saying that now they knew him and Claire.
Ruth being completely obsessed with it was weird. And it annoyed me that she feels justified that she was right, when I think her logic was totally off and JR might well have voted for Niko regardless of him being a traitor, because everyone else was.

On the rest is entertainment they discussed how Ruth really seemed to dislike Johnathon not sure why?

I'm not a thesp! And yes, I think 73 is quite old to still be working.

He talked about them being allies. Unless my grasp of the English language has deserted me, a group of people who have agreed to be allies is an alliance.

But even if he did, I really don’t know why it mattered. No one could have reasonably thought that what he meant was “even if I think you’re a traitor I will not vote for you” (especially since this conversation happened before the traitors were chosen, so it’s not even like he was saying he really believed that they weren’t traitors) so I don’t get the outrage from Ruth when he voted for Niko.

He said something like, well you've got two allies now in this car. I believe he genuinely didn't remember it. He is probably a charming people pleaser. I remember people saying about Bill Clinton, whoever he was last in a meeting with thought that he agreed with them. JR is prob like that. Kind but insincere.

I think if you're a very truthful, emotionally courageous person like I think Ruth was, that sort of easy-come-easy-go attitude jars. And obv everything will be amplified in the house/castle.

Edited to correct spelling Shock

The reason it matters is that he flat out denied saying anything of the sort when it was brought up by not one but two people who were there, and those people are now conveniently out of the game. As is the fourth person who was also in the car.

So either he is forgetful and could say something else to trip himself up, or he is a two-faced liar. Either of which could get him banished. 😁

Blueandbox · 18/10/2025 16:29

Really enjoying it but I hate the way so many of them say at the round table “I am voting for you as I think you are so clever and would make an excellent traitor.”

It’s so “luvvy” and fake the way they have to flatter each other when sticking the knife in!

GreyChicken · 18/10/2025 16:29

Is anyone else wondering who the banshees were?

On Uncloacked Paul alluded to Ed Gamble being one but I think he was kidding 😂

Marina hinted it being a generational thing.

Maybe what he represents, maybe his past. She definitely found him duplicitous.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 18/10/2025 16:43

I liked Ruth to start but the she became aggressive. So she may not like JR for specific reasons but she didn't cover herself in glory either.
Like, some people in life push a hard "I tow the moral and ethical line and so should everyone else otherwise you are nothing to me" line and I find it totally unrealistic...people make mistakes in life and I believe in second chances

It was such a flippant comment he forgot it. He was hardly going make a fundamental allegiance having met then for 2 minutes!

dapsnotplimsolls · 18/10/2025 16:53

I think what he said was a bit ambiguous - he didn't mean they'd formed an alliance but Ruth took it to mean they were allies.

It's also ridiculous because, as far as we know, the traitors are chosen randomly. We can already see that Alan isn't what we'd think of as 'an excellent traitor'!
