Is anyone else wondering who the banshees were?

On Uncloacked Paul alluded to Ed Gamble being one but I think he was kidding 😂

Ed said before the series started that he does appear in one episode somewhere in the background. It’s been christened an “Easter Ed” so people are looking out for him.

Why us Jonathan Ross denying that he said in the car that he are making an alliance when Ruth said it and Clare was a witness!!!! He has denied it several times.

I don't think he meant it in the way she took it. He didn't say 'We have an alliance ' as such - how would that work on the context of the game anyway.

I'm new to the thread and have never watched the programme before either.

ShesTheAlbatross · 18/10/2025 17:31

The thing I don’t like, and it was worse in the last non-celeb series, is when people get offended that someone suggests it might be them. They’ll quite happily accuse people, but if someone says it to them, they act like they’ve been accused of murdering puppies, rather than what they’ve actually been accused of, which is being touched on the shoulder by Claudia. It’s not a moral judgement.

I'm really disappointed in Lucy, i quite liked her before and i thought maybe she would be quite shrewd under that ditzy exterior but no, i think she's just ditzy!

I like Nick. Stephen and Jonathan are insufferably smug and pleased with themselves.

I think, and Marina implied this on the TRIE debreif, that Lucy's dim blonde persona is a act and she's quite sharp (she would need to be to be a stand-up, you have to be quick-thinking to do that, and to be successful in the panel game shows she appears on - you have to come up with a funny answer even if it's a wrong one otherwise you don't get booked again).

Kate, on the other hand, is just not that quick-witted. She has no 'persona' to act out, she is what you see.

MsFelicityLemon · 18/10/2025 17:48

I'd say Ruth didn't like Jonanthan Ross because he's an Grade-A Prick, who spends so much time talking bullshit he doesn't know what he said was his arse or what he said was his elbow.

Such a pity he's in this, he's the only flaw.

autienotnaughty · 18/10/2025 18:09

strawgoh · 18/10/2025 15:51

He talked about them being allies. Unless my grasp of the English language has deserted me, a group of people who have agreed to be allies is an alliance.

But an alliance in the traitors is where a few people group and agree they are faithfuls and are sticking together. That couldn’t happen in the car as nobody knew who the traitors were!

zerofeeling · 18/10/2025 18:12

GreyChicken · 18/10/2025 16:32

Marina hinted it being a generational thing.

Maybe what he represents, maybe his past. She definitely found him duplicitous.

What about his past?

Hanschristiananderson · 18/10/2025 18:23

MonGrainDeSel · 18/10/2025 15:46

I'm not a thesp! And yes, I think 73 is quite old to still be working.

What about Judi Dench amongst many others??

Lucy may well be all of those things but her dumb blonde act is reductive and does women no favours. I find it really frustrating.

dayswithaY · 18/10/2025 18:38

Lucy might be acting dumb but it’s annoying and she’s not suddenly going to reveal herself as some criminal mastermind before the final. The dumbo image is her thing and it earns her money so she can’t drop it now. But yes, it is reductive.

Kate really is a waste of space, Charlotte is so much more interesting I hope they don’t murder her.

I think JR has seen how his supreme smugness and micro aggression plays out on screen and is now doing damage control, hence the whinging recent interviews where he says he regrets the whole thing as he didn’t like lying. More like he regrets letting his mask slip.

PeonyPatch · 18/10/2025 18:45

I think Alan has made this series if I’m honest - closely followed by JR. They’ve made it entertaining!!!

Oh, I agree - I find it very irritatiing.

FightingFish · 18/10/2025 19:34

I’m worried that Lucy hasn’t been given much air time thus far, meaning that she may go to the final and will get her air time then. I also don’t like her ‘persona’. Alan and Cat are doing incredibly well, I’m hoping that Jonathan and Alan stay in as long as possible for the humour.

Wasn’t he doing something with the gravestones in the first episode?

I’ve not watched it back but there seems to be argument over whether that was him or not.

Why us Jonathan Ross denying that he said in the car that he are making an alliance when Ruth said it and Clare was a witness!!!! He has denied it several times.

As I posted on previous thread:

Niko: So there's a one in thirteen chance of being murdered tonight.
Jonathan, turning around from the front seat to chat: If you form alliances with people, that might swing it in your favour.
Clare: Yes. Some people know each other already.
Ruth: I don't know anyone.
Niko: We're in trouble.
Clare: No, you're not.
Jonathan: You've got two older allies here already.
Clare: Exactly.

I mean, if Rossy is guilty of forming this dastardly alliance of four, then so is Clare.

Puppylucky · 18/10/2025 22:18

The Ruth v Jonathan split is perfectly exemplified on another thread here where the most vitriolic judgement is being spewed all over JR based on previous misdemeanours (misremembered by most) and just a general "we hate misogynistic old men" attitude.

For me he is the best one in it. I am only watching it because he is in it.

Ruth just came across as an angry bitter idiot

I think the point is claire didn't lie about it, but Ruth and claire both say Jonathan told niko they were allies - if he was genuinely a faithful he would have no reason to deny that conversation happened even though they hadn't been picked yet. His vehement denial and immediately turning on both ruth and clare makes him look guilty as sin.

Now that he's a traitor, he has to deny he said it but it does make him look guilty. I'm not sure how he's got away with that, plus practically throwing a shield at Stephen, even though he had been going around saying the traitors were framing him and that meant a genuine faithful would have 100% kept that shield for themselves.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 18/10/2025 22:28

Yep, I'm enjoying JR on it and Alan.
I like Joe and Charlotte too.

Not impressed with Celia even though she thinks she's super smart and clever in the game.

ThePoshUns · 17/10/2025 22:12

Yes I think we need to remember there is Alan and the Alan the act.

This!

itsraining2024 · 18/10/2025 22:58

I would have never watched this but was bored to death and so glad I give it a go. Only watching because Jonathan and Alan are hilarious . Great cast.

But Clare also voted for Niko. Both Clare and Jonathan voted for Niko. So why was Ruth adamant that Jonathan “broke his promise” but Clare didn’t, if they were all in an alliance? It’s not logical. Just because Clare remembered the conversation- she also “turned on Niko”.

johnworf · 19/10/2025 07:11

I'm saddened that some of the celebs are getting more air time than others. My massive crush David, has hardly been heard. Same with Charlotte and Joe Wilkinson. It's all Fry and Ross and I hope one of them goes soon.

There is quite a difference between saying we are allies - friends in the game - and let's form/we are an alliance.

Clare misremembered it. Ruth misinterpeted it and/or misremembered it. the level of censure and vitriol over a friendly bit of reassurance is insane.
