And who will be the first to be banished from the table?

I have an intense dislike of Jonathan Ross as I can’t forget his cruel treatment of Andrew Sachs when he was best buddies with Russell Brand.

His eyes were ice cold when Clare and Ruth wouldn’t back down over the conversation in the car, very telling.

I like Ruth as she’s actually playing the game not trying to protect her image like so many of them. What’s the point of Lucy, David, even Nick who I thought would be good value is rarely heard. That’s why I liked Tom with his eye rolling.

Also, what’s their motivation as the prize fund goes to charity and whatever happens they still get paid? Not like the non celebs who fight it out so they can buy a house. I think that is what’s lacking here, none of the celebs seem to care that much.

Ruth is clever, she figured Jonathan out straight away! I like her, she calls a spade a spade.

I like Ruth too. She's had so much stick for saying 'too much', whereas Lucy has been criticised for being too quiet!

Hard to please!

I think on the whole they're a really likeable bunch! Alan is hilarious 😂

To be fair, it isn't sexist to suggest that perhaps the production team had deliberately chosen to put the two most famous dominant males on opposing sides.

I'd rather have seen Team Balding v Team Imrie 😜

Since when did Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry become 'dominant males'?

Mimosa3andmore · 16/10/2025 15:50

I suspect that Ruth will be too obvious a murder this evening. Unfortunately, I think it will be David who I really enjoy as a presenter and author but I definitely didn't like him saying SF was the most intelligent person he'd ever met. I think editing hasn't helped with his lack of 'presence' in the castle but that he's also probably fairly quiet and calm, which doesn't necessary help this game or make goo television.

Piggywaspushed · 16/10/2025 15:55

Maybe SF is the most intelligent person he's ever met?

He obviously hasn't met many people.

I was doing a bit of reading, as some of the celebrities I don't know much about.

Comedy Joe started his career as a stand up support act on Alan Carr's tour in 2004.

Have they even acknowledged that they have crossed paths or know each other ?

David and Nick are still under my radar as unknowns to me !

MrsMitford3 · 16/10/2025 16:53

Buxusmortus · 15/10/2025 22:18

She's utterly charmless though with it. She seems like a stroppy teenager, as if she hasn't quite grown up, although she's nearly 30. Maybe part of that is her teen goth look. There's something about how her mouth moves that's very off-putting.

Lucy looks like she has no idea what's going on at all, I've never seen her in anything, is she as dense as she comes across?

I hope they don't murder David, I like him the most, I loved his house through time programmes and his black history programmes, he's clearly highly intelligent.

I agree re Ruth. She thinks Jonathan a Traitor with very little actual evidence- that would probably be exactly the same as if he were Faithful. I just think she is cos playing this Bridget jones baby actress- starting to find her irritating versus enjoyable. Bull in a china shop who might get lucky

Me too. Celia Imrie is a real dark horse if you ask me, and she has a great talent for comic timing. I keep thinking about her in Acorn Antiques.😂

They think they are the big cheeses - that's the point.

WonderfulSmith · 16/10/2025 17:14

TraitorsFan · 15/10/2025 22:54

I don’t think having a degree, even a doctorate, from Oxford or Cambridge makes you that smart in general - and I know many of them, because of where I live and work. I think it makes you very good at certain things, but they may not be any use on Traitors.

In particular, in my opinion, Stephen is good at the Arts, particularly literature, and we are impressed because he knows so much more about those things than most people do but they do know something. We don’t expect to know much about science beyond what we learned at school so it doesn’t come up in general conversation, and one scientist may not know much about a completely different branch of science. Scientists go to the theatre or cinema, read novels and watch plays on TV far more than Arts people listen to science topics, apart from on Radio 4.

This is probably a minority opinion, though.

The big difference with Stephen and Nick is that Stephen is known for being clever his intelligence shows through his knowledge and vocabulary. Also, everyone knows him and know he’s clever.
But lots of people don’t know Nick. He is the opposite of Stephen in almost every way. He had a different kind of intelligence. He doesn’t wear it on his sleeve but he can see how puzzles work. He can think, rather than just knowing facts.

CrimsonStoat · 16/10/2025 17:29

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/10/2025 16:00

Maybe in his head he added "tonight"...

TraitorsFan · 16/10/2025 17:32

@WonderfulSmith wrote, about Nick in comparison with Stephen, He can think, rather than just knowing facts.

Nick seems to be very logical: I wouldn't say that Stephen just knows facts but it does help that he has "a sticky memory," as I think he said about himself.

I've just listened to Inside Science on BBC R4, which talks about The Traitors and gameplay. It interviews Jaz, who was in series 2. It's on BBC Sounds and will also be repeated at 8:30pm on Monday.

Search YouTube for videos of Nick doing his memory tricks on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown - amazing!

Agree with @WonderfulSmith, Nick has a different kind of intelligence to Stephen, but rather than being “typical” PhD academic intelligence which is often associated with lack of social skills/common sense (sorry to all the academics out there!) his work as a stand up and magician (he’s a member of the Magic Circle) shows an aptitude for people skills, particularly reading people and distraction techniques. Perfect Traitor material, I hope they recruit him!

Yes I have a bit of a crush on him!

Edited

I'd like to see her recruited, see how she lies and talks bullshit.

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/10/2025 18:06

I wonder if David said that about SF to get him on his side and/or to see his reaction?

It’s funny because I was actually thinking they all seem to care far too much for people that are getting paid regardless. I wasn’t expecting so much righteous anger at being accused of being a traitor in a celeb version but there’s actually been plenty of it!

I would guess that Lucy, David and Nick get quite far. Traitors always naturally get more screen time but faithfuls tend to get more screen time early in the game if they’re banished/murdered earlier on.

ThePoshUns · 16/10/2025 18:26

Yes there’s a lot of ego. Charlotte seemed particularly affronted to have been nominated.
I thought they’d take it in more humour.

Yes I thought Charlotte was really quite huffy about it - I didn't warm to her.
Whereas I thought Ruth was great - I thought she did have a sense of humour about it unlike what others have said.

Silverbirchleaf · 16/10/2025 18:31

I didn’t see the Big Dog reference as sexist. They are two of the biggest people in there, both in persona and stature. Yes, Clare and Celia are NT also, but their personality is quieter.

Silverbirchleaf · 16/10/2025 18:34

I thought Charlotte was surprised rather than huffy, as it seemed to spring from nowhere. Her name hadn’t really been mentioned until then.

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/10/2025 18:40

I think she was a bit miffed - she probably thought she'd fly under the radar for a while.

LemograssLollipop · 16/10/2025 18:47

To add to the comments about David referring to Stephen as the most intelligent person he's met....

When they were leaving the house, David lets Stephen go ahead of him and says, "After you No1. " Stephen replies,"After you No2."

Camera shot is from outside do we don't see them.

I thought it made SF sound quite big headed and he didn't bat the comment away in a humble way. Did anyone else interpret it like this or am I off the mark??
