On ep 1, with these two it should be promising, but I don't get it 😶

When is it on @JellyStarz? Ive seem a trailer but can’t remember which channel.

R00tat00tt00t · 11/10/2025 07:10

We’ve watched the first two episodes. I do quite like it but not as much as I expected to. I’m actually finding ALW’s character a bit irritating. I’ll keep watching as hoping it’ll pick up a bit. I want to know why she moved back home, also need to know more about dad. I do feel a bit sorry for her boyfriend.

DarkRootsBlue · 11/10/2025 09:07

I’ve watched it all, I enjoyed it. It’s a bit twee but I liked their performances. Susanne Jones is great in it.

Housewife2010 · 11/10/2025 09:09

I watched it last night, wasn't impressed & won't continue. I always find Suranne Jones irritating. Anyone else surprised when the boyfriend came into the bathroom to chat and hug his girlfriend when she was on the loo?

EachandEveryone · 11/10/2025 12:24

Suranne Jones is the best she’s ever been I think. I find her usually the same in everything. I do like AlW but now she is being samey already.

Cousinchat · 11/10/2025 13:20

Loved Suranne Jones and the Arighi Bianchi cameo 😁

Lisa McGrillis is always amazing and Amelia Bullmore is just an acting god in my eyes.

wasnt sure it all held together in the end.

EachandEveryone · 12/10/2025 11:10

I enjoyed it. I did want to know where the mum worked though as they didn’t seem short. She had a fabulous house and clothes.

Was it a one off do you think? I think the first episode was slow and a lot of people would’ve given up after that.

curiositykilledthiscat · 12/10/2025 15:57

I don’t know if it’s worth continuing with this. The film club thing is quite novel, but the general story reminds me of One Day. You just know from the beginning Evie and Noa are going to get together (also, is Noa even a proper name?). Suranne Jones is over acting and ALW is playing the same character yet again, which bores me.

Ooogle · 12/10/2025 20:45

I’ve just finished episode 2 and really bored. Does it get better?!

She is always the same isn’t she! It’s annoying. Maybe she’s just being ALW.

RainbowBagels · 12/10/2025 21:02

Its grown on me at ep 3. You get a bit more background. I thought ALW was more irritating in White Lotus but that was mainly because her character was so wet and I felt her storyline was problematic. I quite liked her in this.

EachandEveryone · 13/10/2025 19:38

That’s her real boyfriend playing her bloke. I do like her and I think she will go on to bigger things.

Mangetoutmangetouti · 17/10/2025 21:28

Suranne jones is good in this, I like her betrayal of a mum just about holding it together 😉
Aimee Lou wood reminds me of frances de la tour and Nabhaan Rizwan reminds me of a young Dustin Hoffman, when Benjamin goes on his crazy desperate journey to stop Elaine Robinson from getting married (swooooooooonnnn)

*portrayal, not betrayal, too late to edit 🙈

I agree,I used to love her in coronation street but have loathed her in everything else since!

Needed just a few more laughs but I enjoyed it.

curiositykilledthiscat · 19/10/2025 21:01

I watched the second episode and I’m giving up. Nabhaan Rizwan is very unappealing and is miscast here in a pivotal role.

EleanorReally · 19/10/2025 23:49

ii agree Suranne Jones is far better than usual
the first episode annoyed me but it has got better as it went on

EleanorReally · 20/10/2025 15:07

i watched it to the end and enjoyed it

EleanorReally · 20/10/2025 15:07

i liked the ending

longtompot · 23/10/2025 22:41

I've watched it all this week and really really liked it. I like quirky, and yes, it's a bit of a typical will they won't they love story, but I think it was done well.
I loved her mum finding herself and not just being their mum.
Im glad the boyfriend was found out and dealt with and it wasn't a story line that was dragged on far too long.
I loved Evie's friendship with the kid on the bike.
I hope they do another series

EleanorReally · 24/10/2025 07:09

i dont know where another story could go though

I only heard about it from this thread but I really enjoyed it once it got going. There was a lot more subtlety than there usually is in a story like this, for example the mum wasn’t the bad guy, she sometimes put her foot in it but was always desperately trying to support her girls. Personally I don’t think it would work out with the main two characters in the long run but I think they’d have a high old time travelling the world first!

And yes I thought the boyfriend and ALW had great chemistry which made it all more nuanced, turns out they’re together now so that makes sense!

purpleme12 · 24/10/2025 22:00

Well I got to the end and found it a bit pointless in the end

Not impressed

The best thing about it was Suranne Jones' character.

SirChenjins · 24/10/2025 22:15

I really liked it - very sweet and easy to watch

ShiftingSand · 25/10/2025 14:20

I thought Suranne Jones’s character was very soap opera. I’ve liked all her other work but she was a bit OTT in this imo. Did I miss what she did for a living as she always seemed to be home and they didn’t look badly off. Would also have liked to know about the dad.
