Trigger Point: The story so far

Trigger Point follows a team of bomb disposal officers, known as EXPOs, as they dedicate themselves to keeping London safe from explosive devices and terrorist threats.

In the first series, the team faced threats of bombs across the capital, while in the second series, an anti-capitalist terrorism group targeted several local and political arenas.

So s3 - Now, EXPO Lana Washington, played by Vicky McClure, is about to return to screens for a third series of quite literally explosive action.

Trigger Point season 3: Plot

ITV has teased that the third series will see Lana Washington and her team investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta: someone is targeting individuals and demanding revenge.

Working alongside the Police Counterterrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.

Having avoided being blown up for two series, Vicky McClure will be back as EXPO Lana Washington for a third.

We'll also see some familiar faces return to the screen, including Eric Shango as EXPO Danny, Nabil Elouahabi as EXPO Hassan "Hass" Rahim, Natalie Simpson as DS Helen Morgan and Maanuv Thiara as DI Amar Batra. Jason Flemyng (Gemma Bovery, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) will also be joining the cast as a special guest star.

Exciting news! Trigger Point has officially been confirmed for a fourth series, bringing back Vicky McClure as EXPO Lana Washington.

The series, coming to screens in 2026 and set to start filming in summer, will again be produced by Jed Mercurio's HTM Television.

I can't get into this series.

So much of the programme is spent by Lana dismantling bombs that it doesn't hold my interest .

It was nerve biting in the previous series and I know it's the point of the drama but...

Gloriia · 31/10/2025 19:40

I'm only on ep 1 and quite like it. It's tense isn't it, you spend half the time 🫣 but it's very watchable. They seem so reckless barging about with only a pen torch for assistance, you'd think with modern day tech there'd be all manner of infra red high end devices or whatever for searching.

The villains always seem a bit unlikely, in this day of jihadis I think that should be covered although I suppose there's limited drama with suicide vests as diffusing obviously a bit limited.

Nooooooooooo

Omfg. I was thinking it was going to go off but I still jumped in fright

He was a little silly to try and cut wires with out looking at them - did he want to die after his near death experience.

Not sure I like wren as well and now she's gonna be his replacement as down one

Sorry - was an hour behind as DH kept interrupting me and we can’t pause or rewind tv so I decided to watch it from start again on ITV+1.

it kind of seemed like he wanted to die…did he say his wife’s name before he cut the wire? He was clearly traumatised and not fit to work but maybe he wanted family to get death in-service payout. Although I would have thought he wouldn’t do it with Lana and the others quite so close to him if it was on purpose.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 04:17

He seemed to want to die which after his near life death exp seemed weird but guess that’s pdst for you

or if he wasn’t sure /trembling you would ask one of the others to cut /help

OP posts:
Clawdy · 03/11/2025 07:51

I assumed he did it deliberately, and tried to make sure nobody was too near.

Xmasbaby11 · 03/11/2025 11:57

That was quite a predictable but traumatic ending. I did think the others would have been more attentive and double check the wire snipping in that operation. It definitely looked deliberate and I think the woman he released was aware of it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 14:10

There is no way you would cut a wire without looking at it

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 03/11/2025 14:23

God, the ending made me jump even tho' I was expecting it after he said his wife's name but didn't know if the woman or him would be killed, or both .

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 14:52

Made me jump @butterpuffed as well

a lot of deaths this series. Thats rare

e4 tonight. Will prob watch at 8 and then do blue lights live

OP posts:
xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 03/11/2025 15:01

Yes I totally jumped as well.

I thought he cut the wrong wire or left it too late, so he fell on his sword so to speak. He was struggling with his trembling hands and couldn't focus, he had run out of time.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 17:13

He couldn’t see the wires. Just felt them. Why would anyone do that and take that risk - unless wanted to die

OP posts:
cramptramp · 03/11/2025 17:26

Just spotted this thread and not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I’m incredibly impressed by how bouncy and coiffed Lana’s hair still is after she removes heavy helmets :0)

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 21:07

No we haven’t mentioned her hair but that’s a good point

mine would be matted and sweaty 😂

OP posts:
Peachy2005 · 03/11/2025 21:22

I did previously mention the hair length is much better on her this season: that little topknot was quite annoying! But yes she also seldom has helmet hair 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 21:51

Oh I had forgotten her top knot

OP posts:
Peachy2005 · 03/11/2025 21:55

Top knot should have had its own acting credit 😉

Peachy2005 · 03/11/2025 22:04

Think I’ve lost a bit of sympathy now…she should lose her job at this point for endangering herself and everyone else!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 22:14

wow. More deaths tonight

and yes slack on the job. Thats how she missed it

tho sure she will yank it next week or secure with wire etc

so the two men bomber and ill one were lovers ?

OP posts:
Peachy2005 · 03/11/2025 22:18

I thought she necked a load of pills: that’s a bit more than slack!!
