Any recommendations for a good series to watch with my 15 year old? We’ve loved The Umbrella Academy and Ghosts but are desperate for something new - any recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thank you

OP posts:

Mine likes Wednesday. In fact the whole family enjoys it.

LegoTherapy · 26/09/2025 07:29

High Potential on Disney. Only Murders In The Building also on Disney. Good Girls Guide To Murder. All enjoyed with Dd 15/16 and Wednesday.

Gilmore girls in this household, maybe Gossip Girl too, we enjoy the oldies.

EllatrixB · 26/09/2025 07:35

If Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is still available anywhere then it would be perfect - an amazing show!

Blackadder
Ab Fab
Crashing (very funny early Jonathan Bailey and Phoebe W-B)

My mum and I used to adore an old US Stanley Tucci show called Murder One. Ooh The Good Wife is excellent too.

Is stranger things too obvious?

GimmieABreakOr3 · 26/09/2025 07:36

Firefly Lane

awaynboilyurheid · 26/09/2025 07:42

The residence on Netflix also recommend only murders in the building.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 26/09/2025 07:51

Go retro - Buffy!

RedRiverShore5 · 26/09/2025 09:09

Also recommend High Potential, there is one season there and season 2 is on weekly

PebbleyWebbley · 26/09/2025 09:16

Here we go (iPlayer), Pat from Ghosts is in it. My 12 year old and I watched this then watched Ghosts because of the link and loved them both!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 26/09/2025 09:20

I’ve watched all of Glee with two of mine when they were teens (individually- so I’ve seen it twice!)
very darkly funny, lots of teen stuff, but hilarious for adults too.

I wouldn’t recommend Squid Game to a 15 yo but that’s me 😳

Really? Why’s that?

Hmm I did think that as I wrote it, I dunno, just seems a bit dark and violent lol. I’m writing that as someone in their mid 30s 🤣

OP, I guess it also depends on you and your daughters tastes and interests.

Yes, it is but it’s also very good! DD enjoyed it when she was 15. Stranger Things is much more scary and DD actually stopped watching the fourth series which is full on horror (but really liked the first 3 series).

Agree. It is good. I liked the first series.

Not new, but I'm currently watching the X Files with my 14 year old, she absolutely loves it, and there's so many episodes it'll keep us going for ages.

CocoPlum · 26/09/2025 12:48

Lots of things I would have suggested, also Jane the Virgin.

CrystalSingerFan · 26/09/2025 13:28

It's not a series, but I watched The Railway Children on BBC4 last night (https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b018jv82/the-railway-children) and was reminded how wonderful it is.

I'd be curious how a C21st girl responded to it. It's a great film, heartwarming but with ideas of political persecution, relative poverty and class tension, a lovely portrayal of three siblings, brilliantly acted, with one of the best endings ("Daddy, my Daddy...") . Plus humour ("Oh go on, it is your birthday") and they break the fourth wall in the credits which is oddly moving for 1970.

Do report back.

The Railway Children

Classic period drama about three children whose lives change dramatically after they move from a comfortable townhouse to a small Yorkshire cottage near a railway line.
