Any recommendations for a good series to watch with my 15 year old? We’ve loved The Umbrella Academy and Ghosts but are desperate for something new - any recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thank you

Buffy
Stranger Things
We started and dropped out of Alias and Angel, both series I loved but didnt go down as well.
Been dithering over Veronica Mars. I loved that too.
As a family (so including younger child) favourites have been Modern Family, Superstore and Schitts Creek.

I’m watching Hustle with my 15 year old. We love it! Such a brilliant series and characters.

Ddakji · 26/09/2025 11:59

Really? Why’s that?

Because it's deliberately disturbing.

Because it's deliberately disturbing.

Doesn’t mean it’s not good tv and a 15 year old shouldn’t watch it.

I was interested that Squid Game was selected as unsuitable but not Stranger Things. Of the two, DD had to stop watching ST, she hated the horror in season 4. Had been fine with it up to that point.

She loved SG.

Things I've watched with 15yo DS: Squid Game, Last of Us, Friday Night Dinner, Inbetweeners, All of us are dead.

My teens loved watching Sherlock (the ones with Benedict Cumberbatch). High Potential is a favourite along with Only Murders in the Building and Poker Face.

Thunderdcc · 27/09/2025 08:46

Arrested Development.

Helpmyface · 27/09/2025 09:54

DD & I both enjoyed ‘Never Have I Ever’ coming of age series

She quite likes a detective series - Shetland was a hit for a while

DD really liked the Night Agent (more than me) but binge watched it on her laptop!

Helpmyface · 27/09/2025 09:58

Also just discovered Here We Go comedy and both our teens find it funny too

Screamingabdabz · 27/09/2025 10:00

School Spirits
Yellow Jackets
Tall Pines

Mine liked Sherlock at around that age.

The IT Crowd is worth a watch too.

Because it's deliberately disturbing.

That’s kinda the angle I was coming from

Mine liked Sherlock at around that age.

The IT Crowd is worth a watch too.

Both excellent series.
I really enjoyed Peep Show as well.

The Good Place
Crazy Ex Girlfriend
I keep meaning to find Firefly (hope my memory doesn't fail me on how good it was)
Task Master on 4

Silverpaws · 29/09/2025 19:27

My DD has loved
The League of Gentlemen
Inside Number 9
Sherlock
The Agatha Christie mini series on iplayer
I think she will love Breaking Bad but she's only 13.

MissKittyFantastico84 · 29/09/2025 19:30

Another poster has already said it, but VERONICA MARS

Beamur · 29/09/2025 19:31

Murderbot

Nagpuss · 29/09/2025 19:38

We started watching Inbetweeners and I thought DD’s eyes would pop out of her head. She was so shocked by how rude it is!

We have recently enjoyed:
The Rookie (I got bored but dd carried on)
Walking Dead (my DD’s favourite genre is horror and not phased by gore)

We also love Miranda.

She watched Squid Games and Stranger Things at 14 and was not upset by them. We watched first few series of Breaking Bad age 15 and she loved it but she probably shouldn’t have watched it (it was my idea as I thought it was a 15!) And she tried a bit of Game of Thrones but she found that a bit much (I didn’t recall quite how much not-vanilla sex there is in it!).

FirstCuppa · 29/09/2025 19:44

@Nagpuss my dd was also horrified and we both said Inbetweeners has not aged well.

Silverbirchleaf · 29/09/2025 19:56

GimmieABreakOr3 · 29/09/2025 19:22

Both excellent series.
I really enjoyed Peep Show as well.

The DC have just watched all of Peep Show followed by Plebs.

mrsjackbauer87 · 29/09/2025 20:03

@Nagpuss I keep seeing clips of The Inbetweeners and thinking I should watch it again as it was so funny first time round...then I remember I now have teenage boys and think maybe not!

GimmieABreakOr3 · 29/09/2025 20:09

I used to love Skins too, and Ugly Betty
