He's partnered with Naydia. Rugby players have mostly done OK in the past so I'm not sure he will be an early exit.

Well I googled him and I remembered why I had forgotten him...

He seemed a bit dull and a bit flat on the Opening show.
That's probably just my personal take on him though.

Maybe he was just in awe of Nadiya's beauty.....who knows.

Hopefully he'll surprise me as the weeks unfold.

nomdegrrr1 · 22/09/2025 20:13

I've alway had a soft spot for Nadia for some reason, and she did really well with... I think it was Dan? The presenter? I hope that she has a chance to shine and Chris will go through a few rounds.

I refuse to mention Amy's Partner.

Coffeeishot · 22/09/2025 20:17

I really like Nadiya she did an interview maybe last year about being a single mum and how she does it all for her daughter, and i thought good for her, im gutted her and Kai didn't work out i thought they were lovely together.

SwedishEdith · 22/09/2025 20:36

Oh, yes, Nadiya is lovely. Dan Walker had such a crush on her.

EsmaCannonball · 22/09/2025 20:51

I liked Dan and Nadiya (definitely her only engaging partnership) but I find their relationship outside of Strictly a bit off. I mean, it's great if they have stayed friends, but she seems to accompany him to events as a trophy wife, whereas his actual wife is at home. A bit like he doesn't want to betray his religious principles by having an affair but he can't resist the kudos of having someone who looks like a Bond Girl on his arm.

Can you blame him? She's absolutely stunning, even in all the training vt's with no make up and where everyone just looks a bit sweaty she still looks gorgeous. Plus she comes across as a really lovely person too!

Ellmau · 22/09/2025 21:11

I forgot it was on so missed it. Can't be bothered to watch on catch up so will see them all for the first time on Saturday.

Do we know why they didnt work out? It was so so so intense, given that she had a young child AND they got a puppy.
Not sure where it went so catastrophically wrong

Anyone else feel the result is a foregone conclusion and Ellie will win?

I've seen this sort of comment being chucked around on social media. I find the sentiment behind it most unedifying.

He didn't turn up for his exit interview on ITT and left her having to do it alone. I remember her struggling through it in tears while trying to compliment him. It annoyed me that he put her through that, tbh. Not cool.

Yeah, he was a twat. She was a real pro about it. I have immense respect for her for that alone.

LittleBitofBread · 23/09/2025 10:22

Ratafia · 21/09/2025 08:45

Come off it, it was obvious that he wasn't being serious.

Yeah, it was clearly a joke, and as far as I could tell Aljaz got it.

LittleBitofBread · 23/09/2025 10:31

WarrenTofficier · 21/09/2025 12:56

He already has - his VT last night said he will be himself in the training room and La Voix on the dance floor, but I hope we get some performances as himself too.

I can't quite get my head around how it will work if he assumes his La Voix persona during the performances. Does it mean every dance will have an element of camp/comedy? Could get boring, and not work in the more serious or romantic dances.
I think it will be hard to decide whether I like him, as I won't know if I'm liking him or his persona. Seems like quite a blip/flaw in a programme that's based on personalities.

I imagine you will get to know him better through the training VTs I don't think he will do it for laughs all the time he is a professional performer and I don't think he will want to make Alijaz look bad.

No, I think you're right he won't want to just do it for laughs all the time. I'm just anticipating it being a bit of a weird experience as a viewer trying to form opinions – on both him and his performances.

I would just look at it a costume and a performance, obviously he will be a bit more "on" as La Voix but it is still the same Person.

@LittleBitofBreadif you’re so inclined take a look on YouTube as to how Shane Jenek/ Courtney Act did it on Dancing With the Stars Australia he did a bit of both.

I agree and I don't really understand why people are saying it. If it's because Ellie has a disability, there have been many people with disabilities who haven't gone on to win, such as Jonnie Peacock, Lauren Steadman, Will Bayley, JJ Chalmers and Ellie Simmonds.

I really loved Nadiya's partnership with Davood Ghadami. They made it to week 10 of S15 (2017).

I still watch their Charleston to The Lambeth Walk and their American Smooth to This Will Be (that's the one where he did the dead arm lift, which was incredible).

Yes all of these people haven't won Ellie will have fair adjustments and she will be judged on that, being voted to win because "aww bless" won't happen imo.

I couldn't remember if Courtney act did the US or Australia but I knew they had taken part.

Doubleraspberry · 23/09/2025 11:19

People who win tend to be one of the best dancers. Not always THE best and there are definitely other factors at play in the vote, but I can't think of a single winner who didn't deserve a place in the final based on their dancing.

Chris Hollins? He was average at best, both Ricky Whittle and Ali Bastian (in the final with him) were consistently better dancers.

Doubleraspberry · 23/09/2025 11:46

Hm, yes. Not there obviously for any 'aw, bless' reasons at least.

I think he was considered very likeable, and people liked his partnership with Ola.
While I don't disagree that most of the finalists and winners are very good dancers, I think a lot of it is also down to the partnership. I would say that Mark Ramprakash wasn't the most brilliant dancer <<ducks>> but his partnership with Karen was fantastic, and IMO that had a lot to do with them winning.
