Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Not at all, you’ve reminded me that one of the strengths of EE has often been the portrayal of believable and loving friendships, which I wish they’d get back to.

The baby swap was one of the worst storylines EE has ever had. Kirkwood also killed off Pat, which was unforgiveable. He writes episodes nowadays and he's not bad at that.

NowNumber5 · 19/09/2025 20:38

Yes I agree.
Currently, we have Phil and Nigel, and Harry and Kojo.
I can't actually think of any more 😮

mumofoneAloneandwell · 19/09/2025 20:40

Agree that the focus is on grabbing headlines and the youth with explosive iconic plots

Those are a byproduct of good character development and good writing, which is missing 😪

Brian Kirkwood. He was also the producer that engineered that daft baby swap story for Ronnie.

I stopped watching for a bit around this time , ridiculous storyline..but great up to this point

It was such a terrible decision of Sean O’Connor to axe Roxy and Ronnie (yes, SOC was the same infamous executive producer who was fond of the PSA’s and recast Michelle Fowler).

I didn't realise,I thought one of them wanted to leave and they decided both would go together.
But yeah stupid decision to kill them both off
But they brought dirty den back from the dead ,so they could bring these two back ,no more ridiculous than other storylines ... especially the ones where people seem to get away with all kinds of crimes

Loved Roxy and Christian's friendship too.
Also Gary and Minty were a great pairing.
There were just so many good characters around then.
We had the Millers, the Masoods.
Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald?) was a great actor.
Bianca with her brood - Teenage Whit Whit with sassy little madam Tiffany. Rickaaaaaaaaay and Pat.
It just all feels a bit flat now.

Just watching all these people
Just had the storyline with Tony and Whitney..where he groomed her from age 12 .. Bianca realising he was only with her to get access to Whitney 😫

the80sweregreat · 20/09/2025 07:47

Ahh! Roxy and Christian , that was a lovely friendship.
Shirley and Heather is a bit like Harry and Kojo ( or will be once they get shot of Okie and co)

Shellingbynight · 20/09/2025 08:45

@NowNumber5 I always thought they killed off the wrong Branning sister, Abi was a good character and great actress (sorry Lauren!)

NowNumber5 · 20/09/2025 08:49

@Autumnpug7 I thought the same, that the R&R actors wanted to leave.
Stupid decision.

I am watching probably 80% of this first hand.
I only watched it very intermittently back in the days.
I quite like going back in time and watching them now (recorded on Classic EE so I can catch up whenever I have time) but it does show how much more friendship focused it was, and there seemed to be a 'nicer' mix of families.
Now it seems anyone who turns up on the square is related to the Mitchells or Slaters, or a Branning.

NowNumber5 · 20/09/2025 08:54

Oh absolutely agree @Shellingbynight
LF as Abi was brilliant.
She knocks the teenage Lauren actor (not JJ) out of the park!
Have just looked her up, she's still only 29 and still looks exactly like Abi 😁
So she must've been 12 where I am up to now (2008)

Shellingbynight · 20/09/2025 08:54

This producer seems to want to recreate 'EastEnders' greatest hits' and thinks he can do with 'big' returns - Zoe, Max, Ben. It's not going well so far!

NowNumber5 · 20/09/2025 08:59

It doesn't work does it, not without the integral relationships there.
It feels a bit bitty.

Shellingbynight · 20/09/2025 09:06

I agree, it all feels very fractured and 'forced'. Probably due to the ridiculous backstories, like Oscar and Fat Mike, Jonno turning up for five minutes and dying, and Zoe and the ridiculous Greg. And then they had Zoe shagging Max too just to completely overload the plot! And of course the gun hide-and-seek.

the80sweregreat · 20/09/2025 09:11

Loved Abi Branning! A credible actress and a big loss.
to think that Cindy and Max share a grandchild. Not that anyone ever mentions them.

the80sweregreat · 20/09/2025 16:24

If this Jasmine is Zoe’s long lost ( thought she was dead ) daughter , I can foresee a whole ‘ I am your muvver ‘ reveal possibly in time for Christmas! Lol

Shellingbynight · 21/09/2025 10:22

I can't see how the Jasmine-Zoe relationship is going to work out. First I thought that Jasmine had seen the publicity about Zoe and had come to find her. But she wouldn't know her mother's name, the nurse said she had given a false name.

If she tells the story about her mother abandoning her in hospital 19 years ago, so Zoe realises, it will be a very long way beyond the bounds of 'coincidence' that they both turned up in Walford in the same month.

Eastie77Returns · 21/09/2025 11:26

Apparently next week Zoe makes some kind of earth shattering revelation that leaves Sharon devastated. Her return has already been so ridiculous I can’t imagine what else she has up her sleeve to reveal?!

The old episodes really do remind you how EE has declined over the years. Some of the storylines were still bonkers back then but the way the characters were written (with actual depth and nuance) and the acting was so much better. I was watching when Phil took on the genuinely scary gangster Jack Dalton and was being blackmailed into killing Dennis. Some of the ‘actors’ today need to watch those episode.

Meredusoleil · 21/09/2025 11:43

Maybe the late Dennis is Jasmine's father?

Autumnpug7 · 21/09/2025 11:55

Meredusoleil · 21/09/2025 11:43

Maybe the late Dennis is Jasmine's father?

Yes , because that would link Jasmine and Sharon's dead son Dennis as half siblings so cause more grief Nd Sharon would be jasmines aunty

Checkthemeaning · 21/09/2025 12:08

Zoe’s acting makes me cringe so much - terrible actress. She sounds like Eliza Doolittle

Shellingbynight · 21/09/2025 12:27

There's a photo of Jasmine in the link below. Dennis is not her father!

www.radiotimes.com/tv/soaps/eastenders/eastenders-cast-jasmine-save-me-newsupdate/

I agree Zoe is a poor actress. There was so much hooha about getting her back and I have no idea why, she's no Stacey.

gingercat02 · 21/09/2025 12:30

Well that makes Anthony Zoe's baby daddy presumably

Shellingbynight · 21/09/2025 12:43

Yes, it'll be Antony.
