So Joel is currently in a detention centre, does anyone know what happens next?
Will we see him again I wonder?

Why don’t the characters have any other family to fall back on? Ross was with to Joel’s mum once , he must have parents or siblings to turn to or Joel’s other grandparents. Most people would try to reach out to immediate family rather than just hope the community might take some pity on you and give you a bed!
Blimey, she’s only just got back from Oz and Albie back at school and Sharon is off again for a break! No mention of Albie., is he with Zac ?
They all go off on a whim these days.

Where’s Barney? Zac seems to have forgotten he’s his long lost son. The writers are really scatterbrained at the moment. Endless loose ends not tied up and storylines abandoned.

I’d like Joel to go on a rehabilitation journey and return, they did the same with Bobby. There’s also scope to see how his mother leaving him explains how he is, if his mum rocks up.

I admit that I’m getting a bit low seeing so many fictional women characters being beaten up ;(

I can appreciate that it’s only a soap or a tv drama, but nearly everyone shows women being battered around.
I’ve been watching ‘ riot women ‘ and that had two main characters being abused by men. We had Zoe on crutches after being shot by a man , but also previously attacked by Dolen. Elaine was pushed over by Oakie or one of his crew a while back, I’m sure I’ve missed a few. It’s all a bit depressing on tv sometimes

I doubt we'll see Joel again, unless he accepts a visit from Ross.

Joel is so manipulative I can see him conning people into thinking he has reformed. But he's a psychopath and when released would be a huge danger to women. I doubt we'll see that followed through though. Ross and Joel both seem like single plot characters and as you say Cornflakegirl the producers seem to have a very short attention span!

80s I know what you mean. I avoid certain types of series for that reason. I am watching Riot Women, but TV pace.

True. The rightful look at the Internet and the impact on young boys and behaviour is good, but they ignore the fact that some of the older men grew up without it and still act in similar a manner.

It’s a good drama, but it only struck me today how many women are being shown as being attacked on EE
I guess it’s always been like this, but it feels like it’s more constant now ( or I’m more aware of it maybe ?)
The women hit each other a lot too.
Mo made me laugh today when she questioned how Nigel will get to India ! .. a bit a lighthearted moment

I hope we see more of Joel but I also hope there isn’t a silly quick fix storyline where he is fully rehabilitated in a few weeks and returns a reformed character by Christmas. EE has a habit of doing this. Denise had a complete mental breakdown last year but was back in the square within a month and her ill health has never been mentioned since, no follow up appointments or ongoing therapy.

There is a huge amount to unpick with Joel. He needs to grasp the enormity of what he’s done and the trauma that brought him here and the reality is that could take years. The plus side is that he is still very young and we’ve seen flashes of the scared and lonely child he actually is so perhaps he can be helped. However he will need proper parental support and unfortunately Ross falls short. He needs extensive counselling himself because he has been in complete denial about his son.

There’s quite a few characters in EE who need therapy!

I didn’t like the pitchforks scene today with Ross and some other residents, but I can see why Kathy was so outspoken and angry.

They've done this a couple of times with Denise, remember her drinking problem years back and her being out of work and using food banks . She drinks now , she seems to brush off trauma so easily . Even thinking back to the domestic violence storyline and when everyone thought she was dead. I'm surprised none of that caused a breakdown before .

Oh yes I forgot about all of Denise’s other traumas. Her younger child’s dad was violent and I think tried to kill her? Then Lucas kidnapped her. Her first husband Kevin died in a horrible car crash. Accidental pregnancy and having to give Raymond up for adoption then suddenly taking him back when the bio parents died (and he has never seemed remotely upset about that…stoicism must run in the family).

Almost killing Nish then he almost killed her.

Alcoholism, destitution/eating out of the bin were indeed all resolved quickly.

Plus the biggest trauma of all…being married to Jack and Jack.

She has sailed through it all over 20 years with her immaculate hair and figure😂

She could have had Ravi....neither were a great choice. I'd like to see someone like her contentedly single.

I don't think EE can go there with rehabbing Joel. I thought they could initially but it went too far. They started this story with Tommy a while back, but wanted him to stay on the show so they chose an outsider to fully pursue it with.

They could bring Bobby back because he was a character who had grown up on the show, and he came back after years in jail. But the only thing we have seen of Joel is a few months of being manipulative, violent and sexually assaulting women. All his back story is just that - a story we never saw.

She's overcome so much but can't leave Jack. I was so upset she picked him over Ravi

If you have to shack up with a corrupt player, Ravi is more visually appealing.

Wasn't Denise's Dilemma on a "live" episode and the viewers were supposed to choose for her?

Yes! I was so cross. The British public are idiots. Jack is a loser.

I still think it was a fix by the beeb (dons tin foil hat).

Even though she's in a hospital bed ,I've taken a real dislike to Vicki .
Bizarrely,she just massively irritates me .
Joel is an excellent actor,and I hope has his contract with EE made permanent,if it isn't already .
It has all seemingly got tied up very quickly,compared to Bianca in the lock up ...but wasn't patsy living between here and America,so each long stint where we didn't see her ,she had gone home for a bit .
I do hope that's not the end of Joel on screen,and I do hope Vicki and Ross do a flit back to Oz and leave him behind..maybe being fostered by Zac .

I’m not keen on Vicki either. I felt sorry for her ending up in hospital, but before this she was annoying and paying off the girl gave Joel even more ammunition to carry on. She didn’t want to go to the lakes in October , it was clear she just wanted to be at home! I doubt I’d want a long car journey after that ordeal tbh.
So many of the cast are being written out just now!

I did read somewhere that Diane Parrish didn’t want to be with Ravi, but how true this is I’ve no clue! Might just be gossip.
He seems happy with Priya , until she discovers his big secret about the drugs I suppose ( or one of the kids get involved somehow maybe , but that’s a guess)
I hope the long running drug story is wrapped up soon !
