Not the most exciting title.

I suppose Laver Cup and Davis Cup must be happening too soon.

The inevitable bagel happened to Barbora- and could be a double the way it's going.
At least she's still got the doubles!

Siniakova won her singles match earlier, so now has both a doubles and singles match to play one after other. Three matches in a day is a push. I don't think the Lamens match was too taxing though, first set, anyway.

It will be interesting if she does infact play both. As more of a doubles specialist, I can't see her ditching the doubles, as that's her best chance of title. But it's a chance in the singles she rarely gets (though it's more than likely going to be Iga in the final, and I can't see Katerina winning that- assuming Iga beats Maya Joint).
I could imagine a 'singles' player ditching the doubles, even at this stage (however unfair on their partner that always seems).

Rublev about to start his match in Hangzhou. Daniil won earlier.

Maya has at least managed to win a game so far.

I don’t have access to either Korea or the Laver cup, but I saw a clip from the LC press conference where Casper talks about his baby and how it was conceived because he didn’t play Wimbledon and had time for “off court work” Blush

IceandIndigo · 20/09/2025 10:52

Casper and Holger are playing doubles in the next session.

Raahh · 20/09/2025 11:16

Oh dear, Andrey just lost to Royer.
Casper and Holger in doubles could be fun .I have TNT, so will record it over night (if I am awake at that time- again- I will score watch Grin)

'Off court work' eh Casper. Is that what you're calling it? Grin

Katerina is starting to look very weary, and has had cramp. which doesn't bode too well for her later doubles match- if she plays it. Getting late in Seoul.

OP posts:
Raahh · 20/09/2025 13:03

Not much of a rest for Katerina- though i expect they couldn't leave it too late.

Well done to Katerina and Barbora- I hope their final is a late-ish one tomorrow to give Siniakova time to recover!

I'mwatching the Strictly launch show (I never post on the actual thread, it scares me).

My take so far is how Northern Aliaz sounded in the clip when he met La Voix.

'No, are jokin' So funny.

( I always get Gorka and Aliaz mixed up- another reason I stay away from the proper thread Grin).

I’m glad Paul Robinson got Dianne as his partner.

I watched the BJK matches earlier. It’s a shame as both Sonay and Katie started well but couldn’t keep it up.

Raahh · 20/09/2025 20:39

Stefan and Dianne look like they will have a lot of fun together , not sure how long for, with her being pregnant (which is lovely).

It was a shame for the GB team- the Italian team don't have a great record against either GB or US teams, so it would have been a chance.

So now I'm all TeamItalia. (But I'm a fan of Jasmine and Sara any way Grin).

OP posts:
ChessieFL · 20/09/2025 20:44

Yes I want Italy to win (again) too.

Raahh · 21/09/2025 01:40

Just woke up to see that Holger lost his singles match to Cerundolo and AdM beat Sascha- so the Laver Cup is not going Team Europe's way today.

OP posts:
IceandIndigo · 21/09/2025 07:06

Wow, a terrible day for Team Europe, even Carlos lost.

Raahh · 21/09/2025 08:16

On paper, Team Europe looked stronger, players wise.

Maybe they are just using the tournament for practice (and cashGrin)

I think Andre Agassi is also a really good captain - gives good tactical advice and knows how to motivate the players.

IceandIndigo · 21/09/2025 09:06

I may be biased because I love Andre
Agassi.

Raahh · 21/09/2025 09:35

I agree that Andre seems (from fromI saw last year) to have a better with his players than Yannick. Yannick has been a captain of Davis and Cup, and BJK so he's not new to it. But Andre just seems better. And maybe his calmer demeanour is a nice change after Mac Grin.

I love Agassi too- even more so after he was stuck withe AC at Wimbledon and put him in his place Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 21/09/2025 09:38

Actually, this is the first year of Yannick and Andre taking over isn't it? Why did I think they did it last year? Grin
Maybe they were just there

I have been watching some of the overnight recordings.

I really don't like the black courts, I say it every time. Maybe it looks better 'in person' and not like computer graphics.

And Carlos's roots are already showing. He fits the them of the court- very monochrome.

Andre has a verydifferent style as Captain to Mac- Taylor is about to win a set, an by the look on his face, you would think he was match point down. He looks extremely worried.

Mac would be up and screaming Grin

Alexandrova is a set and 5-4 up against Iga in the Seoul final. Ekaterina has won the title before though, I think.

OP posts:
Raahh · 21/09/2025 10:29

And I missed it, bet very pleased that Barbora and Katerina won the doubles (Katerina must have been knackered after yesterday)
