Not the most exciting title.

I suppose Laver Cup and Davis Cup must be happening too soon.

I'm watching Marin, who was doing ok, but now it's level- 3-3 in the 3rd set, against Basavareddy, and I can't really tell how it will go (but I thik the momentum is with Basavareddy.).

Sonay Kartal has won the first match in BJK cup.

Raahh · 18/09/2025 12:38

Oh dear, Marin is down a break, which could make this game over since Basavareddy is now 5-3 up.

Come on Marin!

Damn. Hard luck Marin.

I'm a total jinx today.

I'd better not watch Barbora Grin

Katie has won her match as well so GB are through to the semifinals. They will play the USA.

Raahh · 18/09/2025 15:06

That's good Ice.

I am score watching Barbora/Emma waiting for Dd2- Barbora won the second set on a lengthy close tie break.

Well done to Barbora- looks like Emma faded away after the 2nd set. Isn't a good thing to get into battles with Barbora.

That Bjorn Borg story makes really sad reading. I had no idea about all his substance abuse issues.

Raahh · 19/09/2025 08:04

The Borg interview is really interesting, and it is sad. I have always wondered if he regretted retiring early (Mac certainly wished he hadn't) - and he took a long time to admit that it was a mistake. He seems to have given up a lot of opportunities others would have given their right arm for (being painted by Warhol- wow). But it's the folly of youth, and thinking these things will last forever. And then they don't.

It's interesting he is good friends with Boris- probably a very different personality, but troubles of his own.

And I love that he follows Charlton Athletic Grin

Barbora is playing Iga later this morning- so her run may come to an end. Interestingly, she's also playing doubles with Katerina Siniakova again later too. They haven't played together since last year's Prague Open (which they won)- and they haven't played together since.

Doubles partnerships are fickle. Grin

how odd- the Barbora /Iga match is now being played tomorrow morning. At 4am- which is annoyingGrin

I think it's been raining in Korea.

Barbora and Katerina won thier doubles match (they were still going on, despite all the singles matches being postponed.).

I’m watching some of the athletics from the super duper stadium as Andrew Cotter calls it Grin

Raahh · 19/09/2025 14:04
Grin I love Andrew Cotter.

I’ve just found the Paolini/Svitolina BKJ cup match on the Tennis Channel on Amazon Prime - it’s gone into a third set - the crowd are really into it (as is Sara Errani Grin)

Svitolina looks as if she’s lost quite a bit of weight

The BB interview is quite sad - I seem to remember a ‘suicide attempt’ but didn’t realise how far into drugs and drink he was into - I didn’t realise he’d had a heart attack attack either

The scenes when he won Wimbledon were crazy with just girls pouring onto the court - things were different then - it must have been difficult for him to deal with but I’m sure he must have some regrets about retiring so early - hope he gets to see a Charlton Athletic match!

Raahh · 19/09/2025 14:24

I love how Sara supports Jasmine wherever she plays (and obviously this time the whole team are there).

Things were definitely different in the 70s and even the 80s Fizzy.

The picture quality for Tennis TV is bloody awful Grin

You don't say.

Well done Jasmine.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2025 14:45

Well Done Jasmine - she’s got to play the doubles now! (Glad I’m not a tennis player Grin)

Raahh · 19/09/2025 14:56

It's tiring enough just watching , Fizzy Grin

I can't see them playing someone else with Sara, they are one of the top doubles pairings, so even though Jasmine is probably tired, they won't want to risk it.

I can’t find anything on Prime except tennis from Essen or something. Meh

Raahh · 19/09/2025 16:47

Sara and Jasmine are closing in on the win.

Well done Sara and Jasmine , back in the final.

I've just seen a couple of results from the Laver Cup ( that I had almost forgotten had started). Team Europe are ahead with early wins for Mensik and Casper. Casper beat Lumberjerk, so that's a bonusGrin.

As expected, Iga is off to a flying start against Barbora, already 3-0 up, after 12 minutes.

This could be a quick match.

Maya Joint is doing similar things to Clara Tauson, and is 5-0 up, in only a few minutes more.
