Starting this a bit early as Spoilers for the couplings could come out at any time.

Thread will normally be the location for the weekly spoiler but will be spoilers for who is paired with who before the 20th if we can get them.

STOP with this "putting people out of their misery" nonsense. They're contestants trying to do a good job not ancient dogs on their last legs. I've seen more "misery" with the dead relatives than with Balvinder.

I am also not keen on ' putting people out of misery" angle. Bal could withdraw if she is so miserable. I expect a woman her age and background has weathered far worse.

It's the other contestants going on about being nervous or sad that seem more miserable.

Certainly with some of the floods of tears about dead nans etc it would seem kinder to get the poor, grief-struck celebs to dance to something that didn't upset them so much.
Or should there be a "3 dance offs and you're out because nobody likes you" policy?

Doesn't everyone's nan die by the time you are in your thirties or even twenties? I must be very heartless. Ban on nanwarz I say.

Maybe some people will stop now in their view that the judges have it in for Balvinder. How many times have they saved her in the dance off?
I think she's an OK dancer but, other than her Charleston which was fun and the originality and joyousness of her CC, I don't think she's great. Now is about the time you'd expect someone be at her dancing level to go. As an actress, she's very good at selling the routine but I think that technically she's wobbly, especially on footwork and the basics. Alex has a great teacher in Johannes and goes through very these again and again whereas Julian isn't such a strong teacher. Although I wonder whether he knows she's just not as technically strong so bigs up the routine instead.

I agree. Her best routines are fantastic and play to her style but I find some very 'hard' and last night's dance was really not good. Although he was so emotional, I understand Carlos feeling she's at a disadvantage because her flexibility is impacted by her back. But her arms were really weak last night and have been in a few dances.

I totally get that Vicky is not everyone's cup of tea but she has at least got a bit of personality about her. Amber, Lewis, George - just utterly bland.

I think I prefer no personality honestly. The ones with personality- La Voix and Vicky- annoy me. I like stoicism and a game face.

It was a general comment rather than aimed at you in isolation. I've seen it all over the place and it frustrates me.

Of course it'll have an effect but the dance off isn't meant to put people out of "misery". It's to decide on the best dance out of the two in front of the judges. Not mercy kill anyone, not consider who has the most potential, and not to engineer someone to Blackpool.

If we still had Rylan involved he'd be shouting #JusticeForBalvinder.

Vicky’s social media post today looks like she’s spoilered the result herself & quite a few comments about her falling down the stairs in the DO!

Oh that's sad, if true. Nobody wants to go out on a fall.

She hasn’t responded to those comments but there are a lot of them, so presumably it did happen!

I imagine she's quite cross at going out after the last couple of weeks she's had so it might be deliberate on her part to give it away with hints.

I had a look about Aston. He was 2nd highest on Halloween (Debbie was highest)
Following week, he was second from bottom (Ruth was bottom) . Aston was in B2 with Mollie. Mollie was saved by the deciding vote in Shirley’s first year as a Strictly judge.

That episode features one of my favourite dances. Davood and Nadiya’s AS.

I feel the same to be honest! I was away last weekend and had no desire to watch the Saturday show on catch up, just watched the Sunday show. I don’t know what it is - maybe just a bit bored with the format? I’m interested to see if they take the opportunity to shake up the format with Tess and Claudia leaving.

I feel like the show is too long and dragged out, I could do without all the VTs as I just find them boring, gushy and repetitive, they all just say the same stuff! Especially when they have theme weeks like Halloween or Blackpool. When they’re trying to act ‘scared’ many of them are excruciating to watch, and I don’t want to watch the on a freezing beach eating fish and chips and wanging on about how they loved Blackpool when they went with their gran at 6years old - best holiday of their lives! It’s just boring and old hat, and feels like it’s to fill time. I would love if someone just put a cut out of just the dances and the scores.

The judges are engineering the final to be Lewis, Amber plus AN Other - George, Karen or Alex. Vicky is not who they want in the final so she’s gone.

Keeping Bal (star of a BBC series) in is good protection for Amber. If Amber is in the DO again it will likely be with a less good dancer like Bal. They don’t want to risk Amber on a bad dance coming up against Vicky on a good dance.

Plus they need Lewis to be the only NE contestant to put him on for the win. Vicky had to go. Made even easier if she did fall.

Another thought - if they have pushed for La Voix to get to Blackpool they can’t have her eliminated AT Blackpool so needed to save Bal so she can be for the chop next week.

The judges’ nightmare would be an Amber v La Voix dance off at Blackpool.

I do agree that the show is dragged out. In the beginning the VTs were just of them briefly talking about their previous week’s dance and then practicing the new dance. No interviews of family, friends, colleagues (fellow actors in the tv show they are on) until about the semis. No going to bowling alleys, bars.

Then the first two weeks the show was on Friday and Saturday with half the celebs performing on one day then the other.

Maybe Stefan Dennis pulling out due to injury means they have to pad out the programme a bit ?
Feel sorry for Vicki, but it’s a tough reality show and always losers. It must be upsetting ( especially as they like to get to Blackpool )
