Starting this a bit early as Spoilers for the couplings could come out at any time.

Thread will normally be the location for the weekly spoiler but will be spoilers for who is paired with who before the 20th if we can get them.

Lewis;s entire personality appears to be built around Hartlepool and his parents not knowing about contraception.

Most weeks it probably is just who is best in the dance off. But the judges and producers need the show to deliver a good final whilst the viewers result is a popularity contest. The integrity of the show is gone if the final ends up being three average to poor dancers who are really popular or are paired with the most popular pros.

They know who is polling well with viewers, can give each couple a dance which suits them or doesn’t to ensure they are high or low on the leaderboard and then have the final say on who is saved. It’s not a wide open contest like it might at first appear.

It's a light entertainment show on Saturday night. I don't think it's run by a cabal.
Average/ not good dancers go. People like a "journey" and they like personalities. That's all!

I enjoyed Vicki’s dances more than Bal’s , plus Bal has been in the DO more than most. She should have gone really. Her dances have been boring ( in comparison to others )

I lost my grandparents at 14, 22, 27 and 31. Imagine the heart wrenching video the SCD team would get out of that 😂.

Because my parents were both relatively old having me, I only had my maternal grandmother left when I was born and she died when I was 9-ish (not exactly sure when would make a mockery of my performative grief) #tragictot.
Given my general awkwardness on the dance floor though it would take a hell of a lot more than dead aged rellies to give me a chance.

I always watch the Saturday show on delay and fast forward all the training segments. It really is too long especially at the beginning when there’s lots of competitors.

We taped it last night, whizzed past all the chit chat and other fillers and saved about half hour or so of watching time! It isn’t recommended for everyone, but it is a way of watching and just seeing the dances and maybe the scores.

I have done this all season, seriously if even people who can be bothered to keep up on a Mumsnet thread about strictly can't be bothered to watch it all, what are the general public doing? I'm sure the ratings aren't good this year. They don't have a standout person like Chris last year. For the results show I only watch the group dance and the guest slot, and perhaps the leaving speech. Everything else is just filler and dull!

The viewing figures are consistently excellent, it remains really popular. I watch it all the way through, because I enjoy it. I have a WhatsApp group that do, too.

I may watch the training stuff for my fave celebs/pros/couples

I’ve it watched much, followed here which is often better. I presume the filler is because the show must be quite long have time for all the couples to dance in the first few episodes. Then there are gaps and the remaining pairs won’t be able to learn enough dances to have dancing instead of puff. Was something that put me off in the past and I never really came back.

It's the repetitive stuff that I am finding less tolerable this year. I know they have been banging on about Blackpool for years but for some reason this year it's really annoying me. How many times do we need to see them having ice cream on the beach or going on a scary ride. Quite frankly I would happily see the back of Blackpool but obviously that's not going to happen.

Maybe I have just grown tired of it and should give it a miss going forwards.

I think the loss of Dani and Kristian has damaged this year.

I just hope that Nanna has recovered and was given a nice hot drink after being on that open top bus.

I don't mind them doing that. Are the illuminations still on at the moment? If so then it's current.

When you say repetitive do you mean they do it every year (seems fine) or every show and every ITT (which is overkill).

They do have a stand out person but he's getting flak for having danced in the past. Last year I did see a lot of comments about Chris only doing so well because he couldn't see properly. Whatever they do somebody will moan.

If you have a look at the likes on Facebook for Lewis it's nothing like Chris was getting last year. Generally you can tell just by Facebook likes who's likely to win. It does seem like it'll be between Karen and Lewis.

I'm just watching the weekend shows now. I was out both evenings. Lewis said it couldn't have WENT any better!

That's the way young people talk in his area.
