Starting this a bit early as Spoilers for the couplings could come out at any time.

Thread will normally be the location for the weekly spoiler but will be spoilers for who is paired with who before the 20th if we can get them.

So Vicky has gone from the top of the leaderboard last week to elimination! I'm not surprised, that jive was her worst dance.

😳 wow Vicky will be gutted.

Such a shame, she was one of my favourites.

Vicky's jive was really poor. She did not seem to grasp the basic concepts. It is a difficult dance. Balvinder just seemed bored in her dance unless she was out of hold, then she came alive. So if she threw herself into the dance off, then I can understand how she went through.

Noooo! I really liked Vicky & Bal should definitely have gone out of those 2!! Gutted!

I agree, it was heavy, she was out of step and there was no retraction. Bal's wasn't great, but I don't think she made mistakes.

Yes that is some fall from top of the leaderboard last week.

I guess it's the right decision as she was bottom of the leaderboard tonight but given what happened with La Voix and Harry last week you'd be forgiven for thinking Vicky stood a good chance of going through.

LaVoix improved in the DO, though. His heel turns were good and his timing was better. I really liked Harry, but technically, he wasn't there.

DS is suggesting the DO is Vicky vs Balvinder, with Vicky going. However, it's not a poster I recognise so I am posting it without being fully confident.

It's the result I would have chosen but I also think it is almost cruel putting Balvinder through when she has been in 4 out of 7 DOs and is only being kept alive by life support.

Are we about to get our first DeadNan vengeful poltergeist? Don't stand under any of those Blackpool chandeliers, people. It could end up like Carrie's prom.

I enjoy Balvinder and don't find her dull- just dignified and less keen to weep or shriek- so am glad to see her go through to Blackpool. Though I don't think Julian's choreo is equal to it.
I think if not La Voix, I would have been ok with George going as he's plateaued.

Juliet has now confirmed it so it is definitely true. Phew!

I think George is a bit disappointing, he's saved because he has massive online support.
I thought Bal's dance was nice, but the judges are always looking for a story and perhaps that bit more.

It's a result that shows how much power the judges and their leaderboard can wield. Some celebs are doomed the second they are not protected by a good position.

I did like balvinder, but I don’t think it’s fair for her to be put through again given how many DO she’s been in compared to Vicki (none).

This is why I get annoyed with strictly. There’s always one couple who is a repeated bottom-tower that they keep saving and it’s not fair on the others.
They need to pay attention to the public and who they want to see, but they never do.

This is the complete wrong result.

On DS there is a rumour that Vicky fell but, again, this is unconfirmed by any of the official spoiler people. If true it might explain why Balvinder wasn't put out of her misery.

If it’s based on just tonight’s dances (which it should be) then it’s the right result. Vicky was extremely over marked and still was bottom. That was a really poor dance for this many weeks in

That's NOT the point of the dance off.

Yes, the judges judge on the dance, not previous DOs. Vicki's jive was very heavy and I think worse than Balvinder's AS on the night.

The problem with the format is that if someone ends up in the DO more than twice the viewers know that person is effectively out of the running and it makes the competition aspect that little bit less exciting. The year that Fleur and Mollie made the final it was really a two person final between Helen and Hamza. It also starts to feel a bit cruel to that person. You can see how dispirited Balvinder is. It was actually less cruel in the years when there was no DO and the celebs were eliminated more abruptly but cleanly.

It's not cruel. I'd far rather have the vote of professionals than say Geordie Shore or Love Island devotees.

I am sorry Vicky has gone. I genuinely had her in the final.

Really sad about that result. Badly timed jive!
