For when the first thread is full. I may be watching but won't be posting because I won't have access to a computer and I need the speed of a keyboard to get my opinion out there before I forget what it is.

Well that was a shock result, because I thought Kit would get into the final and that Caz should have left. However, on reflection, Kit failed yet again on the brief of the m2m, so that's probably why the decision was made.

Yasmin's dress and hat was perfect. Just delightful. What a joy to see.

Jellycatspyjamas · 09/09/2025 22:12

Kit seemed really arrogant and unpleasant this week, which is in contrast to how he’s been shown up until now. I wonder if he’s been that way every week and they’ve edited him carefully, or he’s having a bad week, or really wanted out this week? It just seems very different to how he’s been shown in other weeks.

PickAChew · 09/09/2025 22:17

Any of them would have been worthy finalists but Kit really stuffed it up and didn't handle it particularly well. I'm going to enjoy seeing the three women in the final, next week because they're all such clever and creative sewers and enjoyable to watch.

I was so glad the sailor dress got GOTW. I need to put double box pleats in something, now.

orangejuggling · 09/09/2025 22:18

That was interesting! I absolutely loved Orla’s dress and her transformation swirls. I feel that Kit has been gaming it heavily each week with his choices, with the making of a homage to Esme’s Amorphous dress being a good example in the Transformation. He’s clearly very good but it was lovely to see Orla and co get through.

My late mum made me a skirt for secondary school with double box pleats at the front and I loved it. We talked about it in the weeks before she died and she said that loads of other mum's wanted her to make the same skirt for their daughters. She was a teacher in a primary school and politely declined.

I helped her with the sewing and when modelling, remember the pins!

Happy memories as she loved the GBSB. xx 💘

ShoAndSew · 09/09/2025 22:27

My mum and I made me a load of flapper fresses in the 6th form. Bridesmaid revisited came out when I was in the upper 6th so very fashionable

SwedishEdith · 09/09/2025 22:31

Am glad Kit's out mean. Never warmed to him and found him arrogant. Takes himself very seriously. I realised that the way he speaks reminds me of Gareth Malone.

swampwitch0 · 09/09/2025 22:47

I think Kit's hubris was his undoing this week
"I know how to make trousers!"
His fabric choices for the PC was poor, and he should not have won the transformation challenge - Orla should feel hard done by there imo.
I'd be happy of either Orla or Yasmin won.

The other mums probably though it was something you would just rattle off in a couple of hours.

The way Kit handles stress and comes across as arrogant sets off my autism radar. He seems quite emotionally immature. A stark contrast to Pete, who had never made a sweatshirt before but looked at a sweatshirt, thought how hard can that be and then gave a fine demonstration of how not to sew a neckband.

WonderfulSmith · 09/09/2025 22:52

Such a shame Kit went out this week. He’s been so good so often, and I think better than Caz over all. But on this week alone Caz beat him.

WonderfulSmith · 09/09/2025 22:54

EchoedSilence · 09/09/2025 22:07

Yes.she has mentioned it quite often.

Clearly I haven’t been paying attention. That and she hasn’t made it her entire personality.

Yes agree. And when making double block pleats, the pleats need to run down the centre of each thigh. Hence the pins and the modelling. And the skirt being attached to a bodice to make a dress is just so skillful.

I don't mind who wins next week because I have to say that this series has been a joy to watch.

CorrectionCentre · 09/09/2025 23:06

That was an eventful episode.
I absolutely loved Yasmin's sailor suit dress. She had thought it through brilliantly and she executed it so well!

Kit's design just didn't look authentic. It looked like a costume. The net fabric looked awful on the front and was safety pinned to the back. And Esme had already pointed out the faults on the bodice before the lace bits were attached.

Caz was lucky, because the fit was awful. But the actual garment was well thought out and well sewn. But I'm happy she's in the final. I'll look forward to that!

CorrectionCentre · 09/09/2025 23:10

I also think that Kit is more anxious and socially awkward than arrogant.

He was so arrogant when he said he could make them without the instructions that I thought he was taking the piss, but he was serious!
His skills seem to have deteriorated or maybe the others have improved, but based on this week it was right he went.

Yes I thought the same, he seemed like a knob. Not sorry to see him go after tonight.

snackatack · 09/09/2025 23:19

I know it is editing and all... but Kit has always come across as thinking he is 'better'

I really liked Dan even though he went weeks ago

I'd like Caz to win.

swampwitch0 · 09/09/2025 23:28

I think Kit is very good at transformations because, actually, you don't need to be very precise/accurate.
And basically copying Esmes dress is pretty desperate (and enough with the D rings!. I think Orla was robbed in that challenge.
Drafting your own patterns is fine, but why do it when you could alter an existing pattern?
Is the semi final the time to self draft?
The judges warned him that his fabric choice was poor...he could have listened and chosen a different fabric.
It amazes me how often the contestants ignore the judges advice!

swampwitch0 · 09/09/2025 23:30

Oh, I liked Dan! And Stuart.

KnickerlessParsons · 10/09/2025 01:09

I really didn’t like Kit. He seemed very full of himself.
and I think you’ll find up thread that I said he probably wouldn’t win. People who seem to be winning in the early episodes never actually win.

CorrectionCentre · 09/09/2025 23:10

Agree, it does come across as arrogance though. It's just not a very British attitude, we are more used to self-deprecation (like Caz - and others - seem sometimes to be winging it and more light-hearted).

Sailor dress was lovely and well deserved GOTW.

No favourites for me for the final. Been a good series, I think.

NewGirlInTown · 10/09/2025 03:44

Like a PP I wondered if Kit had benefited from a favourable edit in previous weeks, because he was obnoxious tonight.
Delighted to see him booted out and an all women final. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

2Rebecca · 10/09/2025 03:51

I was surprised Kit went but he was the weakest this week. Choosing a thick wool for trousers to be worn whilst doing sport was just silly and impractical. I felt his middle challenge was too scanty for a dress but making flimsy garments that hardly cover your knickers seem to be regarded as exciting and daring by the judges. Choosing to copy Esme’s idea seemed very teacher’s pet. His dress was OK but less good than the others. Caz had a poor week too.

HeadNorth · 10/09/2025 07:21

WonderfulSmith · 09/09/2025 22:54

Clearly I haven’t been paying attention. That and she hasn’t made it her entire personality.

What an unneccesarily unpleasant remark. You seem quite bothered about Kit being an out gay man - which says more about you than Kit.

I thought Kit was incredibly talented, a great technical sewer and was sorry to see him go. I think nerves must have got to him, because he royally stuffed it up this week, which is a shame.

Yasmin's m2m was head and shoulders above the rest and also quite different, so it stood out. I think Caz will probably win, although I've never warmed to her makes particularly - but that is a matter of personal taste, I don't like her slightly 'whacky' style.

Needlenardlenoo · 10/09/2025 07:25

I loved how excited Orla was when she finished the plus fours. She gave a little jump for joy!
