And how did Danielle and Christian get a place in the draw (even as alternates) anyway,if it's meant to be based on singles ranking? when Katie and Alex didn't?

I didn't even know who Christian Harrison was until a few weeks ago (brother of Ryan) and thought he played more doubles than singles. I don't even think he has a singles ranking. moan moan

Yes I was about to start throwing things at the cinema screen Raahh! That was just one of the reasons why the film should be avoided (in my opinion)

I had no idea who Christian Harrison was either - he did look a bit confused about why he was there - I also don’t really know how he and Danielle Collins ended up in the draw - I think they were the first to answer the call up or something?

Annoyingly I think the semis and finals are on at about midnight uk time - even though I’ve moaned about it I’d still quite like to watch the final <fickle>

I am also very fickle. I feel like now they have foisted this travesty upon us, we should at least get to watch it

I've just seen that Stef was playing in Winston Salem this week- and lost yesterday in the first round to Bu.
He probably wishes he had been in the doubles now.

I’m going on holiday tomorrow so no idea how much tennis I may get to see over the next week or so - I’ll be two hours ahead of the UK so might be able to watch some of the evening matches if sky works abroad.

Yeah it’s a bit disappointing that the mixed finals are so late. My take homes from the matches I saw yesterday was that Lore and (surprisingly) Jack are actually decent doubles players, Casper and Iga have a really cute rapport where they’re both kind of in awe of each other, Jack and Jessica can’t stand each other, and Andrea and Sara deserve to win the whole thing.

IceI didn't see the later matches, but I agree with what you say .

I was annoyed with the female commentator during the Iga/Casper match when they played BigFoe/Madison- because they really wanted that match to go the way of the US pair- and had to grudgingly admit that actually, Casper was possibly the best player in the match.

I wish I'd seen Mirra and Daniil play. I don't think Daniil plays a lot of doubles, though Mirra obviously does.
I'm not very surprised that Emma and Carlos lost- Carlos isn't a natural doubles player, as he showed when he played with Rafa at the Olympics.

I sometimes think her smiley persona is a bit fake.

I've lost track of who Jack was meant to playing with- was it Emma Navarro? maybe Jess wasn;t happy to be a second or third choice

Jack and Jess make me laugh. He’s there yapping away during changeovers and she’s 😐. Then at the press conference she’s trying to toe the line while Jack keeps calling it an exhibition and she even said “you can’t say that”

I had the bad gateway message a lot about an hour ago, seems to be OK again now.

I saw a bit of Mirra and Daniil, they seemed to be having a good time but were undone by the fact that he is absolutely dreadful at the net. Andrey and Karolina were a really nice pairing too, I wish they’d play more together. I feel like she would be a calming influence for him.

While I disagree with the concept of this mixed doubles exhibition, the matches themselves have been good fun to watch (the bits I’ve seen anyway).

Like others I want Sara and Vavavoom to win.

Nearly everything I've read now is calling it an exhibition and although in terms of bums on seats (a lot of them free tickets ) it will look successful, it's still not a show case of actual mixed doubles.
So it has looked fun (and it's tennis, I'll watch it) and even the commentators keep talking about 'fun' week. It's a PR stunt- but doing nothing to help specialist doubles players, whilst mostly lining the pockets of singles players who don't need the cash.

Looks like it Sara and Andrea are on course for the win, Iga doesn't really know how to lose big finals- even exhibition ones( and it's a lot of money for 2 days work).

I no longer understand the scoring, it seems to have gone back to a traditional 6 games format.

And it it's 1 set all.

So now I'm stumped.

Is it another set- or a championship tie break thingy?

Looks like a tie break.

It's going the right way( even though I would normally love Casper to win- I would like to think to they have planned it between them all, and the prize money will go go to ADF's rescue animal charity).
