I thought that felt very forced, it's the anniversary of nasty dad's death and 20 years later she still makes a date to drink herself into oblivion. It felt like a heavy handed device to say 'poor Nicola, this is why she is so evil'.

I thought that Nicola did well with portraying her emotions about her late dad , but it is a bit like Phil and Grant who struggled with their dad and how they were treated and that rumbled on for decades.
I agree it’s a heart string puller though so we may grow to like her a bit more when she was originally introduced as tough, annoying and jealous of Teddy moving on with other relationships, the Shireen back story and so on.
Anyway, once Antnee and Zoe return I’m sure that Nicola will turn into another bit part. The new producer seems to want to roll it back to 20 odd years ago with the Slaters at the front of the all of the stories.

Laura Doddington is a really good actress and I appreciate that having a childhood with trauma can affect an adult, decades later, but the scene felt clumsy and contrived.

Today’s episode was all about Kojo and the drugs and was my least favourite episode for a long time.

I suppose it was also shoehorned in too so that George and her could have another bonding session about their awful childhoods and end up back in the office. I’ll watch today’s one later on, but poor Kojo :(

Yes I agree it provided a bonding session for her and George. George is a real soft touch for the likes of Cindy and Nicola unfortunately for him.

I am not looking forward to tonight's episode.

I really hate the drugs storyline. It feels like the writers never get it right, either plotlines are over in a flash (like Avani's pregnancy) or they drag them out far too long.

Oh my god. I’ve been off the thread for a few days because all the plots have got so stupid. AS IF Jack would arrest him for a smidge of gear in a baggy

I do like Oscar though even though I don’t want to.

Still hating Vicky. And Julie needs to get in the bin.

Oscar is a great character to watch - flawed young guy who feels huge remorse for his actions and is trapped in a situation of his own making.

His character didn't have the best introduction but the actor is doing a great performance and will flourish.

And he is mini Suggs 🙂

Do people actually get arrested for having 1 or 2 tabs?

I didn't hate that episode as much as I expected. Which isn't saying much 😆

It really comes to something when Phil is the voice of reason and the nicest person in every scene 😆 Phil and Nigel are great together, the actors must enjoy working together. Julie is in denial, she is going to be on a very fast learning curve.

Oscar is a good character. My problem with him is that his storylines have been slung at us too fast, if he had hit Patrick after he'd been there longer and we had got to know him better I'd have more sympathy. Apparently next week he confesses so I'll probably like him better then!

Jack is being hard on everyone , probably because he knows that Ravi is behind a lot of it too ? Or just being pedantic. He usually isn’t though . He even helped Denise cover up Ken’s demise once so she didn’t get caught , but someone takes one illegal drug and they may be arrested. I know he is only doing his job, but it’s not normal Jack behavior.
I guess that George and Nicola have split up now too! Short lived affair.
I feel sorry for Kojo , it’s a horrible story , but I hope it has a happy ending, but that gun of Okie’s looks ominous :(

Antnee is suspicious of Oscar and he confesses next week. Don’t know what happens though , maybe he’ll have to go back to the juvenile prison ? Or maybe Partick and Yolande will forgive him or he’ll have to do community service ? No idea! Jack will probably arrest him , but he is family..
I like his character, but he is ‘ marmite’ as they say.
He needs a break , hopefully they may find out that Howie has the money and both turn on him instead ?
After all, he is also lying to people and didn’t give Patrick his winnings back.
They are all as bad as each other :(

How long has kojo been in ee? George said he was on a standard visitors visa. Surely they can’t issue those fo r longer than 6 months. I shall very sadly have to do some research

It is certainly out of character for Jack NOT to cover up crimes 😆

Kojo arrived last August so it seems unlikely his visitor’s visa is still valid!
I think we said on the thread a while ago that he came over with his other brother for a holiday so he must have overstayed.

Yup. I checked. He’s been here a year on a visa that is for 6 months max. He is going to be in serious trouble if arrested even without the drugs issue.

In real life , Kojo wouldn’t have been able to rent that flat due to the many hoops you have to jump through , finding a suitable guarantor and actually paying for it all! Anyway, we are where we are and it’s just nasty how Okie and Ravi and the others have taken over his life.

Oh the visa thing would have come up too and he would have probably had problems with that too!

I think Jack would have turned a blind eye if it wasn't for Nicola. Didn't she report him before and he ended up suspended?

Oh yes! Nicola reported Jack once and this is his revenge. Didn’t think of that.

But then they had a quick affair so makes no sense at all.

She loves a no strings shag doesn't she. I wish they'd bring Max back, they'd be a good match.

I'm not getting why Jack would arrest someone who has merely taken drugs but was also probably considered a vulnerable person by Police services. Surely the cuckooing is obvious then and warrants investigation.

Jack only arrests people when they don't need arresting. I wasn't sure why he even got involved, did George call him?
