Not seen a thread yet. Started on u and w tonight 4th August. Is it a Back to Win or just some are returning contestants?

I've watched the semi final and watching the final this evening as I'm away this weekend and don't want to wait until I get home

The 2 to reach the final was rather predictable

I have to confess I didn't watch the final. I was sure who was going to win and fast forwarding confirmed it. I have felt throughout this series that Laura was cast as the central character who's 'journey ' was being prioritised. I might have dealt with that if I'd found myself warming to her, but I didn't. I can appreciate her skill and she may have won fair and square but the feeling of being manipulated by the programme spoilt it for me.

I was sad at the end. I could predict the final 2 from early on and wanted callum to win. I didn’t get the Laura jock parts. I would have been happy with joint winners. But nice to see people return from the past and old seasons.

Laura worked in Jock's restaurant. I understand that she and Andy each had a close connection with Jock and his death was tragic, but it felt like it put Laura in a special club. It had come up earlier in the series as well.

Callum demonstrated the qualities that made me root for him when he spoke at the end. And it was great to hear JCN being so genuine in his belief in Callum's talent.

Sarah and Declan?? Well that's a couple I wouldn't have predicted!
Sarah was someone I did warm to during the series. She has quite sn awkward manner and it was nice getting to see beyond that. Declan of course is the complete opposite! An open book it would seem. A teenage step son and a new baby is a lot to handle.

Yes it definitely felt as if L and C , and possibly Sarah had been set up to be finalists from the outset. Callum’s progression was so far removed from his previous series, Laura still very much reliant on her Nonna and Italian roots. I hope we will revert to genuine newcomers again in future as this format feels in need of a refresh.

I was looking for this thread! MA has always been my comfort watch and Ive watched all seasons. But this season I’ve been fast forwarding and skipping episodes. I really don’t like this ‘back to win’ format. Laura’s been on it 3 times now? They should give some new talent a chance. New personalities. I’m bored of the same old faces returning.

They are all amazing cooks, but it felt from episode 1 that Laura would win and she did. I don't mind back to win once, but having three of them back for a 3rd pop seemed excessive. I do love that Sarah got to have a play around and hone her style with top ingredients for free. Not an opportunity you have in a restaurant, where people won't pay if they don't like the look of it. Also pleased that Sav gets to be a judge in the Sri Lanka series.

Did no one else get fed up with Depinder and her inability to cook anything but curry or pudding? She seemed to be a favourite, thank god she didn’t get to the final

Not for the currys, because they looked delicious and much preferable to ant pasta. But I do find a lot of the deserts on that show are things I would rather avoid. An ice cream, a sorbet and a granita on a crumb and covered in meringue is not particularly appetising.

D T forget the green “sauce”. Alana did that a lot too

It was shown on U and W so probably available to stream on the U app.

On the U app with adverts, or now TV without. I only discovered the now TV part half way through.

I enjoy the back to win format, really like seeing some of the old faces and how far they've come. Agree that it's definitely time for a newcomer series next though.
Declan and Sarah was a bit of a shock, would never have seen that coming. Biggest shock ever was the transformation of Julie Goodwin though. WTF. I wouldn't have recognised her if they hadn't introduced her by name. Step away from the Ozempic 😱
