There’s a show on C4 at the moment called The Veil, which I’ve given up on because the lead character is an English character played by an American with the strangest way of talking. It’s rage-inducing. Her English accent is actually very good, but she talks so slowly and carefully enunciates every single syllable of every single word, that she sounds like an elocution teacher.

tobee · 04/08/2025 19:25

Roly fucking Mo.

Orangemintcream · 04/08/2025 19:28

Sheldon from big bang. In the show it’s funny but in real life he would have no friends whatsoever and after a while that starts to grate. He was vile.

Carrie in Sex in the city. As mentioned so wet and incompetent. Wardrobe full of designer shoes but no money.

House in House. I know he’s not meant to be likable but after a while the fawning from Cuddy and Wilson when he is such a cunt is just too much.

Oh that's very annoying. Americans seem to think there is only one English accent. I can just about forgive Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones as she plays the part very well

Tara Jacobs and Mr Choudhury in My life with the Walter Boys. Couldn't be arsed with their stupid relationship drama!

Gil in Ginny & Georgia.

tobee · 04/08/2025 19:39

Yes I also agree with Thandiwe Newton in ER "I'm so delicate and beautiful!" 🤢

I've got a feeling a lot of people will disagree with me but Jim from Friday Night Dinner. I liked it otherwise and would be chuckling away and then Jim would turn up with his stupid expression and stupid enormous dog and ruin it.

Jim could be quite tiresome but the Granny’s psychotic boyfriend was the single worst character in FND for me. It felt like he was shoehorned in and wasn’t one bit funny.

suburburban · 04/08/2025 19:46

I couldn’t stand self righteous Louisa or Mrs Titchell in Doc Marten

Definitely Beth in Yellowstone!!!!! She is literally the worst TV character of all time for me! Made it completely unwatchable, especially as everyone seemed to pander to her (except poor Jamie)

This is so funny, I thought Beth was the best character!!

SchnizelVonKrumm · 04/08/2025 19:48

Roly in Hey Duggee.

GanninHyem · 04/08/2025 19:55

Sam in Private Practice. He was always a narcissistic arsehole, but the episode when Amelia has her baby and he refused to be the surgeon to remove the baby's organs for donation because it was "killing a child", the babe had no fucking brain you utter twit!! And then the flip flopping and head fucking with Addison when she wanted a baby. Get in the bin. Addie the baddie deserved better, I'm so glad that was close to the end of the show.

Izzy in Greys, I'm so glad she got wrote out her character was so wet and pathetic. Erica was a biphobic bitch too.

Agree Beth on Yellowstone! She was ridiculous. No one acts like that in real life. I don't understand how Rip put up with her.

Because he's a cold blooded killer with no conscience

Scrappy Doo

lol as a child back then I was just numb with anger every time they ran episodes with Scrappy in - literally just drained all the pleasure away!

Ben in Buffy. In fact the whole Ben story arc.

Riley for me. Totally bland except for when he is being an arsehole. Yet she is supposed to chase after his helicopter as no other man will ever want her as she is stronger than them.

i do wish they had more eps of the initative and they did walsh dirty, as a character she was much smarter than what the writers wrote for the character

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 04/08/2025 20:19

Emma Corrin as Diana in The Crown. I don’t mind Emma Corrin in other things but she played Diana as so whiny, fake and manipulative from the word go it was difficult to work out what Charles saw in her. Elizabeth Debicki did a much better job of catching Diana’s undoubted charisma in the following series.

Ugh yes, Riley was so dull and the helicopter scene was ridiculous.

Unpopular opinion but I also really dislike Faith and usually skip her season in binges.

Hayley1256 · 04/08/2025 20:29

Quinn from Scandal, I just found her a wet chatacter

Waitinggame42023 · 04/08/2025 20:34

I've seen Andy from The Office (US) mentioned, but I raise you Erin from US Office. Just such an irritant. Don't know if they thought she'd be 'super-cute' but she just comes across as childish, selectively thick and either over- or under-reacts to everything. For that reason I've watched the earlier seasons far more.

lateSeptember1964 · 04/08/2025 20:38

Another vote for Beth in Yellowstone. Made the whole series completely unwatchable.

"Hello All" used to be met with mutters of fuck off Jim when we watched FND.

Mandy in the West Wing. So so annoying. Omg SO annoying. Thank god they wrote her out after season 1 (definitely persevere if you haven’t got to this point yet!).

Yes! And Amy. Basically anyone who was supposed to be love interest for Josh when Donna was RIGHT THERE!

Ooh I forgot Logan and all his rich pals in Gilmore Girls. They grated on me so hard I almost gave up, but then so did Rory, and on a recent rewatch, Lorelai too.

Loathe everyone in GG with the exception of Emily and Richard.

Bobbyelvis4ever · 04/08/2025 21:23

Unser in Sons of Anarchy. Boring, boring character.

Definitely Kem in ER - the whole bit of Carter and Kovac going to Africa just went on and on - it lost its way there.

Clare in The Good Doctor - she’s so wet.

Fuckit, I meant Riley. Ben I thought was cute and then...
