I think Wolf Alice has been the performance of the weekend. Fantastic. Ellie is a superstar.

Raye was also very good.

I liked CMAT, but her stage persona was too reminiscent of Kathy Burke in Gimme Gimme Gimme and it distracted me.

Snow Patrol were good. Rod was Rod.

I’m sad I won’t see Neil young as it’s not on I player.
Would it be on u tube ?
what’s going on with that !

I strongly suspect it won't be anywhere. I remember years ago he played Isle of Wight festival and didn't allow any of it to be used for tv broadcast.

NecklessMumster · 29/06/2025 21:07

I watched it, we recorded it, bbc2, not sure re I player

Rod is putting on a great show!

Whoever wrote that review is a bitter betty.

The Guardian gave him 4 stars and it was an amusing and well balanced review. I just watched Rod being interviewed by Jo Whiley and he seemed in good spirits and full of energy, I reckon the average 80 year old would need a little lie down after doing that show in the alll the heat

RainbowZebraWarrior · 29/06/2025 21:09

Donttellempike · 29/06/2025 20:23

I’m not a fan of Rod but do people have to be so horrible?

Most people his age couldn’t stand for that long, let alone anything else.

He had the crowd eating out of his hand and was quoting a back catalogue from 1972.

Amazing.

Agree. I'm 54 and physically totally fucked disabled so couldn't manage to even walk on the stage. Of course he isn't going to be note perfect or move like he did in the 70's, but I admire him massively for his back catalogue and his energy on stage today. It also brought back some lovely memories of my childhood and the songs my Mum loved. I'll be happy to just still be alive at 80!

It is listed on iPlayer but I’ve just noticed it is showing as not playable. I’m sure earlier it was playable. I have it recorded from the stream as I knew I would probably only want to skim through and he does have a reputation.

The full .ts will be floating around before you know it. Whenever at artist gets arsey about showing the set someone intercepts the feeds and shares it rather than everyone watching the agreed subset of the set.. I probably still have a 16Gb .ts file somewhere of the Stones’ full set as they were also playing silly buggers with the tv rights in the UK (whilst flogging them happily abroad).

Woah just seen the fabulous Celeste doing 'Strange'.. thats a different look, quite dark...

So are we doing The Prodigy, Olivia Rodrigo or The Maccabees for our Sunday evening swan song?

Anyone else watch Nova Twins earlier? If you like Rage Against the Machine I think you'll like them. They were fab.

The Times had an article on his regime to get fit enough - it was fairly punishing. I’ve seen similar punishing regimes for the likes of Mick Jagger and aging actors in “hero” roles. https://www.thetimes.com/article/d7e9fde0-9649-46ce-8d14-24ba6dd34acb?shareToken=c655b40335488a6ced61a105d6413c66

The likes of Stewart and especially Jagger don’t need the money so I assume they just still love the performing.

I saw a lady in Sainsbury’s with Celeste’s look !
I think eye liner is in , but under the eyes.
It does look weird

Fibrous · 29/06/2025 21:24

I’ll be watching the prodigy but it’s never going to match up to seeing them at Brixton academy in the 90s! RIP Keith.

catching up with st Vincent at the mo who is rocking it.

NeedWineNow · 29/06/2025 21:25

Hello everyone <waves>

We’ve been to friends for lunch and had Rod on live in the background whilst we had pre lunch drinks and then when we were at the table. Saw Nile Rodgers (good as ever) and then caught up with Rod again at 7.15. Think they cut out a few bits but overall thought he was fabulous. Loved the old Faces stuff and I’d Rather Go Blind which is one of my all time favourites. Would have loved to hear The Killing of George but you can’t have everything.

We were going to watch Olivia Rodrigo but it’s too hot to be indoors so we’re in the garden with more drinks. It’s good this retirement lark 😉🤣

Hkakge · 29/06/2025 21:27

Watching Jalen Ngonda at the Park stage on catch up, really great funky Motown style stuff, well worth a listen

Jellykat · 29/06/2025 21:27

Maybe she was doing 'the walk of shame' after a good night out @the80sweregreat and was in Sainsburys buying make up remover?

I can’t believe what I’ve just watched 🤣

That was the restrained version for TV. 😀

Watching The Macabees now while waiting for The Prodigy. Saw them last year at Ally Pally and they still put on an awesome show with a really lovely homage to Keith during Firestarter. I’m sure they’ll do it tonight.

RedRiverShore5 · 29/06/2025 21:36

I need to watch the Scissor Sisters, I did see them about 15 years ago and they were good

Jellykat · 29/06/2025 21:37

Same...Its gonna have to be done Rollergirl11 just hope i get to sleep afterwards Grin
