Last night of our musical telethon... let our ears be filled with joy!

Hard agree. Nile Rodgers is an absolute LEGEND and if he didn't explain why he was playing those songs, most people would think he was just singing covers. He needs to tell the stories to explain. And he's bloody well earned that right! Watch the documentary about him.

Rod and John Fogerty were my personal hi lights.
People don’t like anyone who is seen as a bit of ‘dinosaur , ‘ but they can boast a huge back catalogue of hits and everyone knew the songs and the words.
The crowd seemed to like it too and they were definitely not all old!
At least Glastonbury mixes it up with the acts and not niche like the other ones tend to be.

Madonna is 100% headliner, not legend. The field would be to Elton-capacity!

@Donttellempike People are allowed opinions though! Rod isn’t slow at coming forward with opinions! It’s not inaccurate. His voice has gone. Diana Ross was the same. They get by because they have brilliant musicians and backing vocalists and we know all the songs. He was flat at times. He’s not anywhere near what he was. Needed to be there in his pomp. This is a cabaret show. Depends if you like that or not.

He had cancer in his thyroid and had to train himself how to sing again as it messed up his vocal cords, so all things considered he did pretty well. There was a massive crowd and they were all loving it.

I was going to make a snarky comment about someone not singing as much but going to try and keep up the good mood all this music has put me in!

Great hour from Future Islands, they took the audience (and me) on a mesmerising journey, thats for sure! 👏

I honestly think it’s because he doesn’t get the credit from outside the industry enough. His songs have been sampled and sampled many times over making hits in their own right. Some of the biggest hits or the 2010s have been written by him but I guarantee many until 30 haven’t heard of him. Also if he hadn’t of announced it together, I reckon half the crowd would’ve been thinking why is this guy playing other people’s songs?! Honestly he’s never struck me as an arrogant person, quite the contrary very humble. And I can stand arrogance!

It was a legend spot and he put on a show. Not everyone’s cuppa , but I thought it was fun and he had some help along the way. Some 80 year olds need a lot more help and some like him are clearly fit as a fiddle!
I hope I’m like he is at 80 , but I probably won’t be !

And he put on a proper show, because he's had years to work out how to do. The backing singers/dancers were very much tongue in cheek , I'm sure and ther whole point is that it's basically a greatest hits event.
