@Netaporter I think the interesting dynamic is between Carrie and Miranda - in AJLT S1 Carrie did exactly what Miranda did in the last episode and probed what Miranda was up to with her relationship with Steve/Che and Miranda immediately became defensive. Miranda can't be surprised that Carrie is doing the same, surely? It was Miranda who got Big to come to brunch that time before sending him to collect Carrie from Paris wasn't it? She can't have forgotten that she knows her really well?

Are you thinking of when Che and Miranda did the deed in Carrie's kitchen while she peed the bed post operation?

I think it's really interesting to compare those two situations. Carrie was really angry, and it was very much the selfish Carrie type of anger about he needs not being met (even if it had justification this time). Miranda was a bit drunk and pretty much "taken" by the much more dominant Che. She was exploring some newly awoken sexuality, vulnerable, confused, excited and a bit pissed. She tried to make light of it when Carrie was angry about the pee incident. Carrie was pretty withering when she asked Miranda what she was doing, leading a chastened Miranda to break down and cry about how unhappy she was with Steve. And she was also angry and defensive, but also properly distressed and I thought a bit scared - of what was happening in her life or of Carrie's disapproval I am not sure.

Miranda's comment to Carrie was light hearted and actually seemed supportive of the flirtation she was witnessing between her and Duncan. No judgement, more curiosity. Nothing Carrie of old wouldn't have said around the breakfast table to one of the others. And Carrie flew off the handle with a completely over the top reaction, turning her - guilt? anger? frustration? - onto Miranda so she ends up begging not to be iced out of her friendship. Not to mention her utterly ridiculous claim about her 20 year history with Aiden (2 years tops, Carrie), and completely forgetting her own rule that she doesn't have to stay faithful. So I think she was angry about being caught out, and she hasn't really talked at all to her friends about what's going on with Aiden - just vagaries - because she doesn't know herself what she's doing with him, but can't accept his life is not for her. And actually Duncan - sophisticated, feted writer, a grown up Berger if you will, is much more her bag.

Also remember her little spat with Anthony in a previous episode, who was actually protecting her in asking what the 5 year deal was all about and voicing his disapproval? He also ended up begging Carrie not to drop him. Which lady bountiful agreed to, but with barely a smile. She's become quite monstrous.

I agree with your sentiments about the snapple bottle episode, but I was more thinking about the outdoor picnic scene?. If I recall correctly, Carrie is still pissed off with Miranda about the kitchen scene/unfaithfulness but it turns into more - including Miranda’s drinking.

Anthony was always Charlotte’s friend and Stanford Carrie’s. In the scene you mention I thought it was just Anthony’s vulnerabilities coming out about whose friends they really were post Stanford? If Carrie is now an influencer, I thought it was Anthony selfishly ensuring she’d promote his business/plus not lose him access to Carrie and her circle of influence (I.e behave like Carrie did when she was unknown?) Funny how we all see the same scenes and interpret them differently isn’t it?

SATC "Women's Right To Shoes" on now on Sky Comedy (where Miranda and hot Dr Robert meet), followed by one of my favourites, "Boy, Interrupted", where Carrie revisits her high school romance with Jeremy/David Duchovny and wears some incredible outfits; and Samantha inveigles her way into Soho House and I fast forward Geri Halliwell because she is too cringe! Bliss!

I watched that episode earlier in the week. Geri Halliwell in her ‘it’s raining men’ era was indeed just ridiculous in it. Up there with Sam Smith in AJLT. So random, and also, just why? 😂

But that episdoe is otherwise the best ever with Samantha impersonating Annabelle Bronstein

Soho house manager: Miss Bronstein is from Sussex, as am I and I'd venture to guess you are not, in fact, from the UK.

Samantha: Well that true. I was raised in Ind-ja.

Yes, I always cry at the bra fitting scene!

Mumsnet would now be saying there's no way Miranda is a 34B, let alone a 36A. 30C, I reckon. 😂

Through my tears that's exactly what I said when rewatching it recently.

"It was on top of the telly!"

"She's got a touch of the Madonnas", reminding us of that bonkers time in the mid-00s when Madonna was married to Guy Ritchie and inexplicably started speaking with an English accent.

Scorchio84 · 17/07/2025 14:00

I loved the "A Woman's Right To Shoes" episode.. the Debs (Prom) & David Duchovny was perfect (almost!) in it

I watched "Frenemies" last night, Miranda's date dies & Samantha falls out with them all ".& YOU CAN FORGET SAMBA!"

Another classic Samantha line 😆

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2025 18:12

You nailed it @PurplebeadedFendi

and aiden and Steve sold their joint bar

and Steve bought the place on the pier

Gowlett · 17/07/2025 22:32

Where is Steve, BTW?
Was wondering… We need him!

GellerYeller · 17/07/2025 23:18

Ah you’ve made me all nostalgic for Samantha. Wasn’t the Soho house episode where Anthony outed Marcus as a former escort? ‘He was Roncho in Honcho’ or something? In the back pages of that gay mens mag?

Yes. He was called Marcus but ‘Paul’ in the mag advert if I recall?

S3 Ep8

Spoilers ahead

Well a few predictable and well sign-posted storylines come to fruition in this one:

-Adam is wealthy
-LTW/Marian’s emotional affair hots up
-Aidan becomes more controlling

Those with a sensitivity to terrible interior design need a trigger warning/need to look away in the opening moments as Carrie’s dreadful new stair carpet achieves the unique ability to give both Care home vibes and also those of a 3 star hotel.

Fashion
Well this week the loser is unusually LTW with the quite unflattering striped suit that made her look like a clown on a fag break. Carrie was on point with the pink gallery dress and blue satin two piece. Miranda and Charlotte has unremarkable togs which is no bad thing. Dolly wells continues to steal every scene with her appropriate wardrobe and impeccable acting.

Loved Charlotte recreating the fake Tracy Emin bed..😂 And Harry was back to his SATC self this week. Gia is being set up to bonk Mark the gallery owner (who will forever be the handsy professor in legally blonde to me)

Seriously, the Aidan controlling storyline must be a deliberate overarching plot device to show how grief can lead to putting rose tinted glasses on old Love? Otherwise, why is Carrie so blind to it all? I was so irritated by Carrie cancelling her work plans so that she could listen to Aidan whinge about why Wyatt’s moved out. It’s bloody obvious why, kids always move to where they feel the most loved and safest. So many red flags, it’s like being at a labour party convention. Also, who’s running that farm if he’s pissed off for a month? That said, I think I was possibly more irritated by Miranda eating those biscuits noisily.. I suffer from misofonia so that was particularly torturous. Even more than having to look at Aidan’s bed hair which was another low point.

As a final note, I’m quite curious as to what Adam was doing all up in Seema’s armpit (lovely bra btw) it seems like I’ve got to my mid 50s and not realised there is a hidden erogenous zone there 😂

Not the best episode, but it was an entertaining yarn.

Today’s felt shorter. I enjoyed Charlotte, with Harry, with her co workers and with LTW. ‘It’s a real thing’

i also like Adam the gardener. I am not usually a Seema fan but I enjoyed both her and her bra.

outfit wise I liked the jumpsuits, the gallery dress and joys outfit.

not fussed about Miranda and the alcoholism. I had basically forgotten all about it as it was so very pointless. Joy is too good for her.

f off Aiden. Stupid baby voice, stupid pass/ag comments, stupid blue shirts. Asking her friends about Duncan, belittling her work. What a twat. Good luck Wyatt I say.

LittleBearPad · 18/07/2025 08:23

It did feel shorter. It also felt like filler. Not much really happened.

According to my sky planner this episode is only 30 minutes long.

PurplebeadedFendi · 18/07/2025 09:39

Only 30 mins? Dang, I could have watched it this morning! Very odd though, shows aren't usually commissioned with such wild variations in duration, or didn't used to be. Maybe streaming has changed all that.

Yep - just over 30mins. Was a bit disappointing as I had no excuse not to use the gym once I'd watched it😂

Spoilers !!

Carrie needs to wake up. Why is she carrying the giant heavy bag instead of aiden ? She could have carried one of the smaller ones. That carpet looks all wrong. So Aiden drops by for a month (who is looking after the farm ?) because no one else wants him and Carrie just Laps it up and drops her plans for an afternoon of sex. Is she really that desperate ?
We need Samantha back to tell her a few home truths.

Agree on that striped suit, it totally swamped her, just awful.
Why are the teenage children or her husband not getting the drink themselves ?

No deodorant usage !!

Miranda needs to go to an AA meeting.

Gia and the gallery owner are both broadway actors/singers. Should have had them both singing at the karaoke last episode.

CowTown · 18/07/2025 11:02

Agree on the LTW clown suit—WTF?

And Adam doesn’t wear deodorant as a sweaty gardener? Ick. You’d be able to smell him coming from a mile away. The only reasonable explanation for Seems not noticing is that she smells of cigarettes herself and has lost her sense of smell from years of smoking.

Checkthemeaning · 18/07/2025 11:29

Carrie’s gallery dress was stunning 😍

Holluschickie · 18/07/2025 12:00

This was an ick episode for me.
Aidan gives me the ick with his controlling behaviour and his inability to talk about anything but Wyatt.
Harry has always given me the ick, and now more so with his balls obsession.
Herbert deeply ick and so non sexy. Get the seltzer yourself dammit!
That disgusting Tracy Emin ripoff bed.
Also who buys a Basquiat for their poet son?

Meanwhile I agree with a reviewer who said AJLT wants to humiliate all the older women.
Charlotte teetering about and falling in the bed
Miranda with her karaoke last weei and fawning over Joy, who is too cool for her
Carrie a pale shadow of herself letting Aidan manipulate her.

Seema is the only one who seems her own woman.

Icebreakhell · 18/07/2025 12:02

Is Carrie finally going to experience a long overdue lightbulb moment with the controlling Aiden? His son certainly has, buggering off to his mother’s. Nosing into her relationship with her neighbour, he has massive trust issues with her. Also, why do we have to keep seeing him without his shirt? Makes me feel a bit nauseated.

Adam is quietly confident and hot hot hot. Lucky Seema, I hope they find love.

The purple carpet, WFT? All that money and she won’t get an interior designer.

Love Harry and Charlotte, proper love and familiarity. I’ve heard enough about his bits and pieces to last a lifetime though- enough now.

Miranda is really irritating. It’s like they’ve replaced her with a doppleganger that’s a bit ‘off’.

Holluschickie · 18/07/2025 12:18

3 years of hearing about Harry's dick and balls! How does Charlotte stand it?

Couldn't they have found a better storyline? Like possibly a work crisis for Harry. Maybe he wants to quit being the breadwinner and Charlotte has to step up. Something more interesting than the contents of his pants. But then a man wrote this.
