Caught me by surprise the end of the thread!

I’ve just realised that Jannik has become my new Roger. I just want him to get the people I don’t like out of the way so that the people I do like can win. Sorry Jannik

Sinner is as cold as ice. None of the tactics work with him. He is actually a member of a minority speaking German community in the Alto Adige in the Italian Alps. His Dad is called Johan. I remember going there years ago on a skiing trip and everyone spoke German.

I quite like Jannik, but I do get what you mean.

I’m in a similar place Jane. I like Jannik well enough but seldom find myself actively rooting for him (apart from tonight).

Why is it that French men can pull off scarves and British men can’t?

Yeah they identify I think as the old Habsburg empire. Very proud of their heritage and often wear traditional clothing. German is his first language. Italian he learnt when he went away to tennis school. I've never heard his German but his Italian is obviously perfect.

Maybe it's the type of scarf?

I can see someone like Beardy Benoit with a chic scarf.

I think there is something ultimately loveable about Alcaraz and Sinner is inherently shyer. More uncomfortable in spotlight. Not so charismatic. I don't mean that in a mean way. Carlos is quite like Paolini just one of those people people take too. Amd being the nearest competitor that affects Sinner
Although Paolini gatecrashed a press chat of Sinners and he was really cute with her. And he was laughing which was love to see. Just different personalities.

Yes I think Jannik is a sweet guy, he just walks on to the tennis court and becomes a stone cold killer.

Jannik has a good sense of humour Aurora but yes he’s not as outgoing as Carlos

I think Jannik seems lovely, but a few years back (2018?) I discovered Casper and he became my future 'Rafa' replacement. He might not always win stuff, but i do get nervous watching him.

I like the rivalry that Jannik and Carlos have- but sometimes I would rather watch a match with Holger or Daniil involved , for example- because there is more jeopardy involved.

But I like Jannik because he has been the most consistent conquerer of Djok. Which is a good thing (for me ).

I finally Shazamed the Always On My Mind singer earlier after hearing it for the gazillionth time. It’s a French singer called Rover 🐶 I listened to one of his other songs called Rising High which is a nice dreamy Pink Floyd/Patrick Wolf kind of song and I wish they had used that instead.
