Why are all the singers oversinging and all being weird

CheerfulBunny · 08/05/2025 21:31

I thought this would be a bit more joyful/celebratory? I don't usually watch this sort of thing though.

JemimaTab · 08/05/2025 21:32

It’s a bit mixed isn’t it. Not sure it really hangs together as a coherent theme, given it’s for VE Day commemoration. They could drop the second rate pop acts for sure. I wonder who curated it?

montelbano · 08/05/2025 21:33

You are not the only one.
Could listen to Shaku all night. Being outside makes his music even more wonderful and almost mystical
Victor Ray was excellent
John Newman was dreadful

overitalmost · 08/05/2025 21:34

Well I am really enjoying the concert . Music is fab with the military playing, the personal stories make it so real.

If Cardinal John Newman were still with us, I'd have expected him to want to be in Rome right now; not London - but as he died 135 years ago, I'd call that very decisively retired!

I didn't find him very easy to listen to, mind - he sounded very heavily 'refreshed' to me.

littlbrowndog · 08/05/2025 21:35

The orchestra are just wonderful

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 08/05/2025 21:40

I thought they'd at least show some of the beacons being lit but it's just been really bad singers. And I like John Newman but he was awful.

Changedusernameforthis2 · 08/05/2025 21:40

Imagine being really old wrapped in a blanket having gone through the war then having to listen to a whiney man twat in a beanie strangling a song

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 08/05/2025 21:42

Some things are best left alone and Dad's Army is one of them.

littlbrowndog · 08/05/2025 21:43

God. What now. Just. Sing. Normally.

LizzieSiddal · 08/05/2025 21:46

I usually don’t watch this type of thing but it’s a great concern. Been in tears at the people’s stories.

We have letters kept from great grandparents. It was only way to keep contact

RaraRachael · 08/05/2025 21:50

Could have done with just hearing the letters without the warbling.
