New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

Ooooooooooooh.

I really really want to go back there

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 21/05/2025 21:21

Melvyn not into yoga at all😂

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 21/05/2025 21:24

The brothers background is desperately sad

BassesAreBest · 21/05/2025 21:25

I’m bored with all the talking - I want to see more places

Turmerictolly · 21/05/2025 21:25

Glad that they’re showing the realities of travelling around India. It’s very emotionally hard seeing very small children starving and begging and being exploited. Same in Thailand and Vietnam. Same with disabled and other vulnerable people, living by the roadside on cardboard. It really challenges you.

Lucknow was interesting. There was a very different perspective on the Indian Mutiny (or uprising)

Just seen the poverty - yes, it's overwhelming and very visible

Everything is visible! Things happen on the streets, hairdressing, cooking, peeing, washing clothes and people, things being made and mended. At first you feel awkward looking at peoples lives in such a public way, but then you realise no one is bothered. It really does reset your mind in a very radical way very quickly.

Oh they are going to Shimla, hope they go on the little train!

And cremating the dead by the river.

It's so so so different to many places I've been to

Seeing the children upset me too. It is really difficult to witness.

DH had a work trip there. He found the poverty incredibly difficult to see (and he was brought up in Africa, so it’s not like it was anything new - just a whole new level).

Yes I remember seeing peoples whole lives lived out on the street. Before I went with my friend I remember my dad saying to me that it would be shocking and to be prepared. But nothing prepared me. Even though I’d been there as a child to visit family.

viques · 21/05/2025 21:33

They should have gone for the train!

cakeorwine · 21/05/2025 21:34

I wonder if there's an "unofficial" age limit for hostels.

Hostels are probably cheaper than hotels.

timetotwist · 21/05/2025 21:37

Sioned is totally overwhelmed, poor girl.

cakeorwine · 21/05/2025 21:37

I wonder what the camera crew are thinking

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 21/05/2025 21:38

This is actually A LOT for two relatively green teenagers to deal with

NCTDN · 21/05/2025 21:38

Oh I really feel for Sioned

Stegochops · 21/05/2025 21:40

I do feel sorry for her but she needs to man up a bit. She seems to be lacking resilience and the ability to have fun! She’s very serious for a teenager.

viques · 21/05/2025 21:42

NCTDN · 21/05/2025 21:38

Yes, though funnily I think of the two she would probably be much better at negotiating and speaking to people than he is, but she just can’t cope with India. It is interesting to see how Tom and his mum cope with asking questions compared to Fin who seems to do the “talk loudly in non standard English” to foreigners.

jan2310 · 21/05/2025 21:43

I’m bored with this series. It’s all about the relationships and feelings. The element of excitement of the race is lost. In other series I enjoyed watching how they travelled, the work they did, the challenges they faced.

Me too. None of their ‘challenges’ are anything out of the ordinary and they keep repeating them over and over again. Is it really common for people to go through life without facing any problems?! Minimal sympathy for the plight of the rich SAHM who could have taken a voluntary role / anything!

cakeorwine · 21/05/2025 21:46

I wonder if they show the very basic train toilets

SabrinaThwaite · 21/05/2025 21:46

Interested to see Shimla - my DF was in India at the end of WWII, and he loved being able to get up into the hills.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 21/05/2025 21:48

I remember taking a seat in the ladies carriage and then two male guards came in and took our seats. Fuming!

I’m really sorry to say that I agree with this

jay55 · 21/05/2025 21:50

Agree too, i really want to see more of the actual journey than the emotional one.

SabrinaThwaite · 21/05/2025 21:54

TBF, the whole ‘emotional journey’ story has been a thing for the past few series. I keep nudging my DCs to apply but they both say they don’t have enough of a back story to get through.
