Was anyone else aware that the new Dr Who series was starting tonight??

😮..I have come across it by accident.

Last year it was was well advertised.
The TARDIS flying on the BBC screen at every opportunity and so.

I do record a lot of my programmes so maybe I missed it ?

But I didn't last year 🤔.

And I really thought they said it was going to be May for the new series ?

Have I been on another planet ? 😂😂😂 !!

It just seems far too rushed and it doesn’t connect

please let me work through the story

Poppy was a space baby and was the girl that Belinda saw in the barber shop story episode. Maybe she is Susan’s mum.

Omega was a scientist who created the ability to travel in time and can’t live outside his universe without a new body/host body. Wonder if Conrad is going to be taken over by him ?
It also looks like Mrs flood could betray her future self, just like the master and missy.

That is an excellent review, and it does pose a lot of good questions.

I would like to add the following -
What's the deal with Mavity?
What about the unexplained stuff from the previous series that RTD said would get explained and so far hasn't been, such as what was said in 73 Yards, and what was the real score with Ruby's origins.

Flashes from “73 Yards” were at least used in Wish World so some part of Ruby remembers it.

I hadn’t seen the theory before that a lot of this season was written with Ruby as full time companion in mind. It would make sense from the perspective that there hasn’t been a lot of Belinda back-story.

I really liked the elegance of the cyberhead counters - a bit like the clockwork people in “The Girl in the Fireplace”. I hope they weren’t just background!

It’s certainly one of the most beautiful episodes I can remember.

I agree the spectacularly elegant doubt counters deserve a much bigger part. What was the black substance? I want some to play with!

Is anyone going to do the cinema double bill next Sat?

I considered it, and then thought I’d look silly. Then changed my mind - only to realise I’ve already accepted an invitation to a party next Saturday. Feeling somewhat resentful towards my prospective host.

(And I won’t even be able to watch it earlier in the day, as I have done all season. They’re not making it available on iPlayer ahead of the broadcast.)

It’s on quite early, any chance you can go to the cinema and then on to the party?!

I enjoyed the episode, but agree too much is being introduced, especially at this late stage of the series. I really hope they just leave things open to continue next year. Would be such a waste of story potential to finish off The Rani, Omega, Pantheon Conrad and possibly Rogue in 45 minutes. Even if God of the week is getting a bit OTT, as surely a god should be harder to defeat?

(I’m thinking if I timed it well I could sneak into the cinema between episodes. TBH I can’t imagine why they think anyone would want to re-watch Wish World (however pretty it was) so perhaps I wouldn’t be the only one doing that.)
