Yes! I discovered if I watch in the iPad I can slow it down to try to help with my French.
And poor Martin has split up from his wife.

Pantaloony123 · 08/04/2025 23:00

I do. But the level of wealth is galling.

But it’s good for my French 😆

printLine · 08/04/2025 23:07

Do we think all the buyers are real?

Yes that's the main thing I wanted to discuss! I was so surprised, it's really sad! I always thought they were the stronger couple (not sure about Valentin and Charina), I really wonder what happened there 😔

I've been wondering this too, and how they get this type of people to agree to being filmed, and essentially reveal where they live (if they end up buying).

I do find it fascinating to see people my age spending 10 million like it's no big deal. It doesn't compute in my head. How do you get to this level of wealth?

Yet some of them are really down to earth, I liked the couple who was looking to buy in Italy.

I love this programme. The properties are incredible and they are such a great family.

shewasasaint · 09/04/2025 20:34

I love it too. At first I wasn't so keen when they showed houses away far from Paris but I've got used to it now.

The family are so likeable, foibles and all. A shame to hear that Martin and his wife have split up.

CrushingOnRubies · 09/04/2025 22:45

I also love this show! I need subtitles but my GSCe French is decent enough to not need to reed them religiously. And mostly it’s just looking at lovely houses and rooms.

i like how it’s not as bitchy or drama drama drama as the likes of say Selling Sunset.

That’s sad about Martin and his wife. I did wonder why she wasn’t in it much or his dcs for that matter especially at Majo’s birthday dinner.

printLine · 09/04/2025 23:12

I didn’t like the house in episode three - the one outside Madrid - too much concrete.
And houses outside central Paris costing €4m now seem a bargain!

Umanresources · 09/04/2025 23:30

I love it and also felt very sad about Martin and his wife getting divorced. I was reading an article today with Valentin about the programme. He said it was 99% unscripted because some of the scenes had to be set up with the buyers. They also filmed for 10 months of the year and he said he spoke with Ryan Serhant, a realtor in the States who has his own show ‘Selling Manhattan’, which is much more scripted and filmed over a couple of months.
He says that most of the clients are real. He and Martin also had a spin-off series where they competed against each other trying to find the best/most exciting/unusual properties.
i loved the huge chateau they went to see, the one for €180million. What a fabulous lace.

Me too. It's so much classier.

My French is rusty now but they speak very clearly for the most part. I'm going to try the tip above and slow it down on the ipad!

Bimblesalong · 13/04/2025 16:23

Also love this show and it helps me to keep up with my French too. Great to travel from my armchair.

shewasasaint · 13/04/2025 17:04

They go to fabulous places but I like the wonderful shots of Paris most of all.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 18/04/2025 07:47

The writing was on the wall for Martin and his wife when she wanted to move to Portugal for her career. I recall the parents and the brothers were not impressed and everyone was a bit stand offish towards them for a series or two. Despite the parents subsequently moving to Brazil and buying a house out there.

Calliopespa · 18/04/2025 10:36

Martin’s wife always struck me as not really enjoying having the children or her life played out on tv. I can totally appreciate that and imagine it would put huge pressure.
I think Charina is very game and sometimes really feel for her when they discuss their fertility issues. There was an odd conversation between Majo and Valentin this series where he talked about adopting then Majo ( who is v cool btw) was talking directly to the camera and saying she felt touched he could open up and talk to her about it as it isn’t easy to share and I did have a moment of 🤔 because they were at the same time being filmed. It’s as if they sometimes don’t realise…

A similar issue was that highly picky lady ( I’ve seen her on a previous series too) who brought her children to a viewing and seemed oblivious to the fact they were absolutely trashing the place. The family made plenty of comments ( tbh slightly justified) afterwards about the “energy” of the children and I thought do they not realise their client will see this footage. I mean I’d watch if my house search had been filmed! I guess they have to include some of this or it would be way too sterile.

Calliopespa · 18/04/2025 10:37

Oh but what about the plan re the dad!!!?

And at the same time all the touchy feely party speeches!

Calliopespa · 18/04/2025 10:38

I actually felt Alex was so OTT he might be an actor?

Bimblesalong · 18/04/2025 10:55

The children trashing the place set my teeth on edge - as did the totally child unfriendly property.

I have to admit, I’m fast forwarding through the Majo subplot about her acting, although good to see her achieving some dreams.

The mum was actually hilarious! She just sailed through as though they were utterly adorable. I wasn’t sure if she was trying to not to draw attention to it ( as a cushion sailed past her head) or genuinely thought it was normal - though I did notice they were left at home for the next viewing! Tant pis! We hoped to see them again. Tbh I found it the highlight of the series. In our house we rewound and rewatched. Our Dc loved it!

shewasasaint · 18/04/2025 11:39

Eve seemed unhappy in a previous series that Martin puts his career first. The other brothers seem more easy going.
His annoyance that clients aren't buying a property often shows on his face - not good!

I actually felt Alex was so OTT he might be an actor?

The whole thing with Alex seems contrived and false.

Umanresources · 18/04/2025 11:47

I was a bit busy one evening, so I changed from the French to dubbed English for one of the episodes. It was all wrong. The voices were mismatched and it sounded so over the top. I had to watch it again in the original French with the subtitles.

Bimblesalong · 18/04/2025 14:24

I think I was super worried about them cracking themselves on the furniture - or breaking something. I’m not sure the girls I aupaired for would have got away with it! I’m nearly finished watching the series and will miss having this great tv - may have to rewatch from the start.

Well they have definitely set it up for another series …

It does show on his face but it’s normally when he has shown them something outside budget “just by a million or two.” The people get really enthused as it’s obviously great for the budget, then he acts a bit hangdog like they lead him on with their enthusiasm when they politely decline after he reveals the price.
