Anyone else watching? It’s brilliant - so funny. Game show format with some great comedians on

OP posts:

Agree about Lou, don't get her at all, nor Harriet really! Love everyone else. They had such a good line up! Love love love DMC.

Tarantella6 · 28/03/2025 22:39

DH said the first one was hilarious so I watched the second one and didn't even crack a smile. Bob is good but the rest of them left in were just dreadful.

OudAndRose · 28/03/2025 23:00

'An arms dealer... who sold swords' was excellent.

JustSawJohnny · 28/03/2025 23:18

It's such a fab idea and just a whole heap of joy.

Not very often programmes leave you feeling so cheerful.

There was an OZ version a few years back. That was good too, if anyone fancies it.

murasaki · 28/03/2025 23:26

Whoever it was who said the Oz one descends into anarchy wasn't wrong, utter insanity.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 28/03/2025 23:37

I found the Irish one funnier 🤣🤣 but me and my husband are Irish and maybe it was just more our kind of humour - and also I knew all the comedians really well!

i found the uk one a bit harder to get into initially! But when bob started his magic show I was in bits laughing 😄

murasaki · 28/03/2025 23:50

I think the fact that the Oz one allowed them to a) get drunk, b) have access to a props cupboard and c) choose when to play the joker, helped.

They all, and particularly the last two, looked like they needed a good lie down in a darkened room for about a week afterwards.

IWillAlwaysBeinaClubWithYouin1973 · 28/03/2025 16:17

I think Bob Mortimer has taken over the crown from the late genius Sean Lock as the "comics' comic", you can see how the others admire him. And Mortimer vs Ayoade? v. special. I'm going around asking people for their thoughts on kitchen islands, very much my sense of humour.

I said the same to DH, very similar randomness. The arms dealing mum, who dealt in swords..absolutely wet myself…

garlictwist · 29/03/2025 04:59

Loved this. I watched some of the Irish and American versions in the past and found them both dull but the UK one was excellent.

Foolsgold74 · 29/03/2025 18:46

I would easily win this as I didn't so much as smirk throughout the whole thing. I think it just shows up that, left unscripted and unrehearsed, the comics just aren't funny. It was largely crude, puerile, childish and without charm or wit. I honestly don't understand how anyone could find it funny, let alone hilarious.

Upbiffa · 29/03/2025 20:15

Just finished the last episode, I haven't laughed so much in a long time; highlights were

Bob's magic show
Joe's RNLI talk
Judi losing it
Daisy May Cooper's own goal
Bob's songs
Harriet rock-paper-scissors double handed
Danny Dyer does Harry Potter

Not sure if spoilers are allowed so I'll just say I think the person that came second actually would have won but decided to give it away out of respect!

Agree with your last line! Bless them

I think the runner up fell on their sword to let the winner win

On their arms-dealing mother’s sword perhaps?

ItisIbeserk · 29/03/2025 20:43

Totally agree with you all on the final two. Totally satisfying too. Daisy being the recipient of Bob’s songs almost finished us off. The Stars In Their Eyes sketching and the rest was superb although we did wonder how Joe had it all just ready to go…!

Do you actually find any of the comedians on there funny in other things? I can see that if you have never been able to see what is funny about Bob Mortimer, you might not laugh at this, but for lots of people he is one of the funniest people alive.

ItisIbeserk · 29/03/2025 20:45

Just remembered Alison Hammond in the fridge and Rob trying to refuse to go near her.

This sounds amazing. Off to find the Oz one now.

Loved the UK one so much, and I wasn’t even going to watch it but had nothing better to do. So glad I did and didn’t!

alahanscornershop · 29/03/2025 20:59

Bob Mortimer is a national treasure. I've loved him since his Big Night out days. I read his autobiography a few years back and that had me laughing out loud. He's just so naturally funny.

This is quite sad. We were all in tears watching, same as a lot on this thread

ConstantlyFuriosa · 29/03/2025 22:13

I’m watching the Oz one and it’s so deranged already (halfway through episode two) it’s actually quite stressful! I don’t know any of the comics other than Rebel Wilson who’s presenting but they are all extremely full on and very, very physical with their comedy.

Definitely mad! The coat and the Bob Marley had me crying, but agree it's very physical comedy compared to the UK one.

By the end I was wondering if some of them needed sectioning 🤣

I have no sense of humour because I laugh at different things than you?

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 30/03/2025 08:16

We watched the lot last night. Even dh, who isn’t one for what I think of as corporate comedy-you know, the same people turning up on every show, was laughing out loud. Still can’t stand Daisy though.

We seem to be in a minority but I’m with you Foolsgold74. I persevered but just didn’t see anything funny. I can guess who won as someone seemed to be set up as the star from the start.
