Here we go again!

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 26/03/2025 20:54

Wow scores

littlbrowndog · 26/03/2025 20:55

Och jack

PotterHead1985 · 26/03/2025 20:56

Woooo that's a mad one

ExitPursuedByABare · 26/03/2025 20:57

yay

littlbrowndog · 26/03/2025 20:57

Wow jean. So close. Sally I think will be happy. But she was my favourite

EsmaCannonball · 26/03/2025 20:57

The way Andi emphasised 'historical figures from the past' just then made me guess it was Jean. No dish inspired by that mythical bloke played by Michael Praed.

Yea to me that's what lost Sally it for her.

Jesus pru leith tomorrow

ExitPursuedByABare · 26/03/2025 20:59

Jean’s pud is a strong contender

EsmaCannonball · 26/03/2025 21:00

Are they going to do a Spencer on Jean tomorrow and try to find a way of sparing him from cooking three courses at the banquet?

PotterHead1985 · 26/03/2025 21:00

ExitPursuedByABare · 26/03/2025 20:59

Can you imagine the poor bugger doing 3 courses!!!

ExitPursuedByABare · 26/03/2025 21:00

I’ll help him

PotterHead1985 · 26/03/2025 21:03

ExitPursuedByABare · 26/03/2025 21:00

I’ll help him

I'd volunteer for the fish or meat but not a hope on the pud.

Are we gonna manage with this thread or need a new one?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 26/03/2025 21:23

Sally’s pudding was very strong as well I think so could end up with just jean & Sally show 😆

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 26/03/2025 22:04

Ooo, so did Jean get it? Sorry - am currently in a different time zone, and can't watch BBC from here. I did think that they might get all dishes between them. Who was the wildcard today?

RampantIvy · 26/03/2025 22:56

Has anyone noticed that Lorna can't hold cutlery properly? She doesn't seem to know how to hold a fork.

ThatShyRoseViper · 27/03/2025 05:47

Is this turning into a bash Lorna thread? It seems like she can’t do anything right for a lot of people.

She’s far from the first to swap her cutlery between hands and numerous people have been HKLP when they eat.

I’m not remotely suggesting this is your personal motive but I do think a lot is plain old misogyny. How else do you explain how the very divisive Ed Gamble remains in post and we now have our third female judge in five or six years?

RampantIvy · 27/03/2025 06:16

What's HKLP?

ThatShyRoseViper · 27/03/2025 08:14

Holds Knife Like Pen

Duh · 27/03/2025 08:31

I don’t think this is a ‘bash Lorna’ thread at all. I’m sure she’s lovely but the qualities she likely displays in person do not come across at all on screen.

This is not her fault, many people have loads of charisma and gravitas in person that simply evaporates on camera. Say what you like about the other presenters (and many past presenters) but they don’t make the show’s energy tank.

Whichever producer made the decision for her to be a judge is severely at fault here. It would have been obvious from any screen test that she was not right for the role. I feel sorry for her and she should never have been put in this position.

LaMarschallin · 27/03/2025 08:55

I think Duh put it excellently.
I certainly haven't warmed to Lorna. She comes across as very dour which may be because she's taking the job very seriously, which she - and all the judges - should. The results are very important to the contestants.
However, it's also an entertainment show and Tom and Ed are entertaining, imo, and Lorna isn't. She doesn't even seem particularly enthusiastic about being there.
Funnily enough, I hadn't noticed the HKLF thing (I can never understand how people who do that can control their knives) but she did look awkward with her fork.

Nothing to do with Lorna but I'm so bored by the repeated use of "bash" everywhere these days.
Doesn't anybody use other verbs such as "criticise" anymore?

Duh · 27/03/2025 09:12

@LaMarschallin I love (and agree) that you are ‘bashing bashing’ - or ‘criticising bashing’ as you prefer 😊

FridayNight1975 · 27/03/2025 09:28

as it’s been previously said, it’s not just a cookery programme, it also has to be entertaining.

i found the fish episode with the comedian so entertaining, he was both funny and interesting.

today’s judging however, i found boring and everyone seemed to be in their best behaviour and a bit too in awe of Clare, who by the way, I don’t know if it’s been discussed here, was Sally’s mentor.

TelexMachine · 27/03/2025 15:19

Just popped on this thread and read the last few comments. Have been enjoying this series, great atmosphere with the chefs (I remember the unpleasant Scottish round a series or two ago!). I agree that Clare did seem like the grown up in the room with the other judges, but she is amazing to be fair.

Really like the two female chefs who got through to the final, so determined and professional. I actually like Lorna and do think she is good on screen, well able to stand up to Tom who can dominate and she just does her own thing. I don’t think she has a good dress sense but hopefully someone can help her out with that. She is petite, pretty, great skin just has no idea what suits her, probably always far too busy in real life to give this any consideration but the programme should help. Ed dresses well, Andi certainly has her own fabulous style figured out and Tom keeps it casual and clean.

I like the wild card element in theory but I don’t like that it means a chef is bounced out so that they can take part.

murasaki · 27/03/2025 15:24

I'd assumed that the wild card meant 9 in those rounds.

I liked Lorna's jumpsuit.

TelexMachine · 27/03/2025 16:49

@FridayNight1975 yeah the comedian (Russel Kane I think was his name?) was a great guest and liked fish, hurrah (never a given). I am going to look up his podcast.
