It has been confirmed that Ten Pound Poms season 2 will begin on Sunday 9th March at 8pm on BBC One with episodes to air weekly.

Michelle Keegan reprises her role as nurse Kate Thorne in the second instalment, alongside returnees Faye Marsay and Warren Brown

In the trailer, which I Havnt seen yet - viewers can watch on as Robbie shares a tender moment with Kate as they rekindle their friendship

while a new character – Benny Bates (Marcus Graham) – is introduced with some words of wisdom for Terry.

The official synopsis for season 2 reads: "After a challenging first year in Australia, series two follows nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure down under, each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream.

"As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie."

There are also some new characters joining for season 2, as the Skinner family arrive from Ireland "ready to enjoy their new lives in the sunshine".

Further casting includes Rob Collins (Mystery Road) as Ron, Leon Ford (Elvis) as Bill, Declan Coyle (Long Black) as Stevie, Stephen Curry (Hounds Of Love) as JJ, Hattie Hook (Savage River) as Pattie, Finn Treacy (The Portable Door) as Peter, Emma Hamilton (The Tudors) as Sheila and Cheree Cassidy (Underbelly) as Marlene.

Who were all the people in the fishing cabin at the end, one man locked it up? the irish family (who now have the deeds and their eye on the cabin) were looking down at the cabin from the clifftop.

Ron (Terry’s aborigine mate) has been having meetings in there with his tribe about their rights. The cabin had been left to he and Terry (IIRC) by Arty, and Ron has been converting it to turn into a fish and chips restaurant.
Terry doesn’t seem to have done any work on it, preferring to work for the corrupt, dodgy Benny.
I would’ve thought this would have been a far preferable route to earning money as a down payment for a family home.
Terry always seems to get himself into ‘situations’ bless him.
Unless Terry just let Ron take it over completely, and I overlooked that plot detail.

Yes, Arty left the beach shack to Terry & Ron to do with whatever they wished.

Yes, that scene was really disturbing. And that final scene with the family rescue from the gas, hope they all survive, didn't look good.

I thought Terry would have turned off the gas - he opened the window but thought that pointless if gas still pouring out

the pageant - I knew Mary would wake. I thought more of the woman would have been shocked at colour of Mary in the shop but glad they weren’t and all supportive

so she had a fling with baker. Wonder if Peter is Terrys or the bakers ?

if she had one last fling with baker then Terry came home and slept with him

looks like the secretary may follow up the children’s story or be there for her boss to do it

idid think she was going to say Peter was the bakers.

MaloryJones · 24/03/2025 19:04

So sad with the Mum, the Children and the gas.

It looks to Me like thing are changing for a few people in our main families.
The Young lad (Terry;s son, forgot his name) seems the only one actually truly enjoying Oz.

MaloryJones · 24/03/2025 19:05

And eyes are beginning to wander ...

Glad we get a 2nd series though

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/03/2025 19:29

Poor Pattie, her moment was ruined.

Why couldn't Marlene just have taken the baby to settle, just to avoid the humiliation

I'm glad Christine is okay.

Poor Terry, was just a matter of time. I wonder what he's going to do now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/03/2025 11:03

I was hoping his boss would come back and say sorry

Not sure how she’s gonna get her son back unless adopted parents die ?

I'm just catching up with episode 4. I don't know much about Australian history. Men locked Annie and the other 2 women in a basement just for walking into a bar! Is that something that would have happened IRL, does anyone know?

The children being shipped over to Australia is really shocking. I hope Kate gets her story.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2025 21:13

Seems a long way to ship children

surely must have been nearer countries

wasnt ir a month boat trip
