3 part Murder mystery’s starts Sunday 2nd March and on weekly

The BBC has finally released the first trailer for its adaption of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero, and it's bound to get murder mystery fans excited.
By NATALIE KING (https://www.express.co.uk/journalist/123872/Natalie-King)

Set in 1936, the plot revolves around tennis star Nevile Strange (played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen), who finds himself embroiled in a scandalous celebrity divorce. He invites his former wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland) and new spouse Kay (Mimi Keene) to spend the summer at Gull's Point, his childhood home and the estate of his bedridden, yet formidable aunt Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston).

The 30-second trailer takes us to Saltcreek where we’re introduced to Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston), Inspector Leach (Matthew Rhys), family lawyer Mr Treves (Clarke Peters), British tennis star Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) and the two ladies in his life: ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland) and new wife Kay (Mimi Keene), lady’s companion Mary Aldin (Anjana Vasan), the estranged Thomas Royde (Jack Farthing), Nevile’s mysterious valet Mac (Adam Hugill), and Mr Treves’ ward Sylvia (Grace Doherty) .
England, 1936.

After a scandalous celebrity divorce, Nevile Strange and his ex-wife Audrey make the unthinkable decision to spend a summer together at Gull’s Point, their childhood home and the coastal estate of Nevile's aunt, Lady Tressilian.

With unfinished business between the former childhood sweethearts, plus the presence of Nevile’s new wife Kay, tensions are running high.

Add to this a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man, and soon there will be murder.

A troubled detective must rediscover his purpose to untangle a toxic web of jealousy, deceit and dysfunction.

Can he solve the crime before another victim meets their death?

An explosive love triangle, a formidable matriarch and a house party of enemies. All compelled… Towards Zero.

This unusual setup inevitably leads to tensions, which are further exacerbated by the arrival of a resentful exiled cousin, an elderly lawyer, and a French conman.

Joining the cast are Matthew Rhys as Inspector Leach, and Clarke Peters, known for his role in The Wire, as Mr Treves, a long-time family friend. Adam Hugill from Sherwood will also feature in the drama as the enigmatic valet Mac.

All that swimming and climbing eh? Neville truly was an athlete.

Grace Doherty who played Sylvia was excellent.

butterpuffed · 17/03/2025 12:35

I've read some of Agatha Christie' books , not this one though , so I wasn't annoyed at any changes there might have been .

It was slow to start with but picked up , was well worth a watch .

JaneJeffer · 17/03/2025 13:36

I was pleased that poor old Thomas finally got some peace of mind in the end

diddl · 17/03/2025 13:45

Even though I didn't like the characterisations I stuck with it.

There seemed to have been quite a bit left out considering it was three hours I thought.

I've forgotten already-why did Neville kill Treves?

JaneJeffer · 17/03/2025 13:52

He did it to put the suspicion back on Audrey because Mac got arrested for the aunt’s murder
