This is our tenth anniversary of sharing our thoughts on Our Girl series one and have subsequently watched the other three series, followed by Soldier Soldier, The Musketeers, Spooks and Hustle so thought it was time to try something different. Please join us and share your thoughts if you have ever been a fan of Downton Abbey. We are currently on series two, episode seven.

Lord G manages not to cheer that she’s leaving.

Mr Bates cellmate is a nasty type, but he doesn't know who he's messing with. Mr Bates is no pushover. You're always left wondering just a little about what Mr Bates has and hasn't done.

Yes I always feel that.

I don't know if anyone has see The Gilded Age (Julian Fellowes American Downton) but Granny America would have been one of the tough cookies with new money in American society at the time that Robert went searching for an American heiress to save Downton the first time. She reminds me of Bertha in The Gilded Age who was exactly that.

Me too.

Carson knows he has been a bit crabby ...ah well

Rhubarb01 · 19/03/2025 21:49

And so ends another episode. Always plenty going on and another entertaining watch. I've seen it lots of times, but I still laugh aloud at some of Violet's quips.

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:50

Same time same place next week ladies?

I won't be able to do w/c 31 March.

Violet is ace. Half script-writer, half Maggie Smith’s delivery.

Magi84 · 19/03/2025 21:52

Oh well a lot going on there. Sorry I was bit behind most of the time. Changes in Mumsnert app has made a difference when used on my phone. I think I ha e the hang of it now but was a bit hair raising at first. Lots I that episode to try to keep up with. Good though as ever

I'm possibly going out on a limb here but Carson is so stuck in the old ways that he is seriously beginning to irritate me with his pompous approach. Jim Carter does play such a great part though.

And I can’t do w/b 7th April.

Magi84 · 19/03/2025 21:54

Yes same time next week. I too won’t be able to do week commencing March 31st.

Ilovelblue · 19/03/2025 21:58

Should we abandon w/c 31st then?

Beautiful flowers everywhere.

It's preparation for Edith's wedding.

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2025 21:02

Oh, blimey. Celebrations are afoot. Flowers, floors being scrubbed, champagne glasses ready. Edith is so excited that she is the centre of attention for once.

Magi84 · 26/03/2025 21:03

Thomas scheming again

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2025 21:04

Mrs Hughes and Mrs Patmore are still whispering in corners and Carson's big ears are twitching!
