The drama continues…

I'd forgotten he had the Moor sound. I suddenly thought 'has it started pissing rain here' cos it is blowing a gale

Yes, there are chefs who didn't even reach the finals who did more memorable dishes than anything we have seen this series.

Hopefully they are saving the best for the last few heats.

Agreed

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 20:51

It was also the case that chefs who got to the banquet would sometimes return and compete again but now they don't seem to want to risk doing that after their win.

Kerridge a case in point. Main winner 2 years running. But that was the early 2010s

It’s all kinda dull now. No drama or exciting dishes or chefs

I thought it was just me. But 20 years in it is getting dull

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2025 20:54

A wee bit of pudding. Jeez

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 20:54

I was excited about Kirk last year.

Sunbird24 · 20/02/2025 20:55

There are dwindling numbers of us on the threads as well, usually a good indicator that the show’s not grabbing imaginations any more

He's dressed that COMPLETELY different.

Jesus tom. In a really polite way, like a trainers insole!!!

Yep

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 20:56

I think the judges are a bit dull, too. They used to be a bit too snooty and nasty but at least they had something to say and provided a bit of controversy.

I am still enjoying the show but it has gone a bit worthy.

When you compare even to our masterchef threads there's less of us here now

PotterHead1985 · 20/02/2025 20:57

Yay calum

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 20/02/2025 20:57

Ooooo. They aren't having to use a wild card to get that main through after all!

Yess. Back when andi and them were on the judges it was a better panel

EsmaCannonball · 20/02/2025 20:57

I think we need a few brilliant chefs doing some absolutely crazy OTT things in the next few heats. I miss the crazy.

littlbrowndog · 20/02/2025 20:57

Yeah I will keep watching cos I love cooking shows and you lot being here 🥰

Sunbird24 · 20/02/2025 20:59

I imagine they’re quietly selecting one dish from the losing chef each week to discuss as a possible wildcard after all the regions

OP posts:
CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 20/02/2025 21:01

Maybe they should do a "past winners" series, where they all have to have won a week (at least) before.

They did a Christmas NHS Special a few years ago where Alex Greene and, in particular, Lisa Godwin-Allen were both brilliant.

DH & I just been having same convo. It definitely needs a shake up of some kind. Things gave changed a lot in 20 years and the big name chefs have no need to do GBM & the up & coming one’s might do it once but they rarely come back. It’s a much more crowded field than it used to be in terms of getting yourself known.

The theming of great Britons should be inspiring but it seems they’ve been told not to do the usual suspects so we’ve got an odd mix of ppl we’ve all heard of like capt cook and Isambard kingdom Brunel and then obscure Gallic poets and some bloke who once visited Chester. It’s just weird.

And yes where is the razzmatazz and showmanship??

Theeyeballsinthesky · 20/02/2025 21:15

Tho I suppose we should be glad we have so far been spared the great British celebrity menu….

Sunbird24 · 21/02/2025 09:06

Shh, don’t give anyone ideas!
