The Traitors #9 - 'why am I still here?'

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 08:31

Just two episodes to go until we find out who will be victorious - the traitors or the faithfuls.

Will Alexander save the faithfuls?

Will Charlotte lead Freddie like a lamb to the slaughter?

Who will feel Leanne's wrath tonight?

Will Frankie cry at the banishment?

Not long until we find out!

Team Charlotte!
If not her, Alexander.
I will be so mad if Leanne wins either as a team or singly.

It's impossible for a faithful to win on their own - there needs to be at least two of them left standing to win.

Leanne will definitely reveal that because she will be convinced the traitor is either Freddie or Alexander. I think Freddie is more likely to stay in if he can convince the others it must be Alexander as opposed to trying to shift it to Charlotte. But if I was in there, even if Alexander is voted out, he won't be able to say if he is faithful or traitor so I would also get rid of Freddie next round just in case.

If Alexander is voted out tonight, he can still say, as that's the last time isn't it?

Yes you are right! Silly of me.
Don't want her to win with Jake either.

Coriol · 23/01/2025 10:45

@Coriol Best case scenario, I suppose is that Leanne bobs up alive and well at breakfast, Freddie doesn’t visibly blanch, Leanne says in front of everyone ‘Only Freddie and Alexander didn’t know I had the shield’, Freddie realises he’s been played and — does what?

He could say that Charlotte told him after Leanne told her - maybe because she suspects Alexander and wanted proof. Charlotte would either argue that she didn't, but it would split suspicion between them, or agree and put the suspicion onto Alexander. Either way, suspicion on Charlotte would increase

Yes, he probably should. Shaky ground, either way, obviously, especially if someone starts asking awkward questions about when and where exactly Charlotte told Freddie about the shield…

Hard to implicate Charlotte without also implicating himself, maybe.

Freddie seems like a simple soul, so it may be mildly hilarious to see him trying to control his expression when he sees Leanne, let alone actually tell lies all day.

CityofOliveBranch · 23/01/2025 10:52

I agree that last night’s episode was great, but I think I’m the only person who was pleased to see Minah go. That’s only really because I always support the nice Faithfuls.

Having said that, I don’t mind Freddie winning because he said he didn’t want to be a Traitor, but he really had no choice.

Leanne was incredibly stupid to reveal her shield to anyone at this stage. I was shouting at the TV.

I hope and pray Charlotte has been a bit too smug and overconfident, but I’m afraid she may have been strategically brilliant again.

Coriol · 23/01/2025 10:58

WettyBite · 23/01/2025 10:38

Leanne doesn’t deserve to win after being so unbelievably stupid to reveal she had the shield at that stage in the game (also because of her attitude to Alexander).

I want Alexander and Jake to win now but I think Alexander is done for.

I think Leanne will have been told to reveal it, and to whom. I don’t think that’s on her (irritating as I find her). Definitely a production decision.

Just thinking about what a ‘diplomatic’ Faithful like Alexander might do at this point, if aware there’s a strong possibility of a late forced recruitment of a Faithful who had no choice in the matter and whose loyalties may still lie with the Faithful rather than with a fellow-Traitor who recruited them because they were vulnerable. Worth changing up the tone a bit at breakfast by saying to everyone ‘Look, there’s almost certainly someone sitting here who got forcibly recruited last night, and that person should think very carefully about why they were chosen’?

I mean, obviously if Freddie managed to successfully orchestrate banishing Charlotte, there would still be a traitor left for the Faithful to deal with, though, but Freddie is no strategist. He’d be a weaker Final traitor…?

Turkeyhen · 23/01/2025 11:05

Poor Freddie looked like a rabbit in the headlights at the end of last night's episode, but he may surprise us (as Charlotte did, post-recruitment). Surely he will at the very least work out that he has been recruited owing to his vulnerability/all the talk about there having to be a male traitor, and that Charlotte is planning to chuck him under the bus immediately - hopefully he will think up some possible strategies overnight to defend himself. I suspect he'll be this year's Ross and get banished straight away though 😅

Drdoing · 23/01/2025 11:18

That was one of the best episodes of tv I have seen in a long time! Anyone saying this year is boring I don't agree.

I like Charlotte and her gameplay but I worry she might have undone herself here because Leanne might be able to figure out what's happened.

WettyBite · 23/01/2025 11:20

I’d be surprised if no one mentions Minah’s death glare at Charlotte last night when she wrote her name 😂

FridayNight1975 · 23/01/2025 11:22

someone was mentioning this on reddit and i agree.

sorry to keep banging on about Joe, but the moment he left, they started applying some kind of logic instead of personal hunches without being attacked by him and they caught a traitor.

alexander decided to apply a new strategy, freddie voiced out his long held suspicion about minah and francesca caught on the comment during the mission (even though minah said on uncloaked that she was just thinking out loud).

i think he was too distracting and could be so harsh that he blurred the whole round table vision.

And being Leanne, will immediately starting roaring ‘I’m SO ANNOYED you told Freddie about my shield! I’m SO ANNOYED now!’ where another player might keep quiet about it and talk to Francesca/Jake/Alexander about it.

Or maybe she’ll show an unexpectedly strategic side…?

LindorDoubleChoc · 23/01/2025 11:33

Absolutely gutted about Minah. I did feel it was unlikely she was going to go all the way from the start to the final, but she just seemed like such a sparky person with lots of wit and personality and was a good strategist.

I am screaming at them all for not suspecting Charlotte. Why? why? don't they? It just makes them look thicker than thick. Especially as Charlotte's guilt was written all over her face at the voting in the banishment.

I don't want a massive twist in the penultimate episode thank you very much producers. That absolutely sucks.

This has been the least enjoyable series of the three UK ones so far by a long chalk.

GRUMP!

CityofOliveBranch · 23/01/2025 11:39

I agree about why is there no suspicion on Charlotte at this stage. She barely said a word at the Round Table last night, when most of the others were not holding back, and only Alexander picked up on that (which may prove to be his undoing?).

Appalonia · 23/01/2025 11:41

Looking forward to tonight's shenanigans, don't know what I'll do with myself when this series is over, I LOVE that it's being watched by everyone at the same time, feels like a real event!

RoseTulips2023 · 23/01/2025 11:42

Love Charlotte, Alexander and Minah. Minah has been so impressive but sadly shot herself in the foot in this episode as she said in Uncloaked.

Impressed by how during the trial Frankie spotted that Minah was trying to steer her towards the answer. I loved Minah but don't believe for a second that she just blurted this out. Also very hard to believe that she has word diarrhea.

It was great how Frankie said she didn't care that she was thought of as irrelevant and was more interested in why the traitors would have chosen her. Despite the tears she has shown she is more led by reason than emotion, especially compared to most of the others.

Minah looked stunning in Uncloaked and is clearly clever, funny and engaging - would love to see her in something else. I think she's one of the characters we'll remember from this series .

Charlotte has been so cool and collected. Recruited traitors are often patsies and I think the main reason she chose Minah was because Alexander asked her what she thought during the roundtable and it would have looked odd for her not to have voted for Minah. However, I do think Alexander now probably suspects her - especially if he spotted the way Minah looked at her. I think her decision not to tell Freddie about Leanne's shield is potentially clever but could easily backfire on her as Freddie will find out quickly and then be actively working against her but I think she's taken a risk - didn't she say earlier in the series something about being a risk taker or have I made that up?

Choux · 23/01/2025 11:46

I wonder if Minah can dance. She could reunite with Claudia on Strictly. I don't want Minah to disappear back to Liverpool and her call centre job.

Coriol · 23/01/2025 12:09

My tv signal failed last night, fortunately after the episode but alas before Uncloaked, and as I’m not in the UK, I don’t have access to the iPlayer. Was Minah all charming and glamorous? She was always very pretty in the series, even standing on a damp hillside in an anorak, so I bet she looked great. And was Joe disarmingly nice so we all belatedly understood why he was so liked?

Also, I didn’t see if anyone had brought this up. I just heard The Rest Is Entertainment podcast talking about it the other day — the fact that a poll showed that people who would have preferred to play as traitors if they were on the show were far more likely to vote Tory, while those who said they’d prefer to be faithful were more likely to be Labour voters.

The Traitors might have exposed a dark side to Tory voters

There seems to be a link between scheming Traitors and the Tories...

TellingBone · 23/01/2025 12:10

If it turns out as we expect and the 'heat' is on Freddie and Alexander, then their best strategy would be to suggest Leanne was either a traitor already or has been recruited.

I was wanging on on the last thread about having switched from Team Traitor to Team Faithful when Charlotte got rid of Minah - and I couldn't quite work out why I felt that way. I think it's because it struck me as not only poor strategy [to be out for oneself right from the off] but also rather greedy. It happened in another series which I can't mention in case spoilers.

Anyway, my hope is that Alexander clicks on to the Leanne redirection idea and convinces Freddie of same.

They really need to play closer attention - The Faithfuls - don’t they? The look on her face said everything you needed to know. Wonder if the astute Alexander clocked it and is biding his time. I hope so!

I don't think anyone from The Traitors has been on Strictly (yet). But I'd much rather see some of them than some of the influencer/Love Island types

Not yet, but Molly from last series is on Dancing On Ice.

Given she's already fractured her (good) wrist, I think I'd stick with Strictly if I was one of this year's participants!

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 23/01/2025 12:30

Anyone but Leanne for me. I think she’s coasted to the final by attaching herself early on to a clique and then just being an intimidating presence in the group. Most of them felt they couldn’t vote for her or criticise her in any way as she reacted so badly and had them in her sights afterwards. I bet she was a bully at school. She has that vibe.

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 23/01/2025 12:35

I live the show but it’s crazy how the contestants act and the flawed thinking throughout. They basically boot out anyone with half a brain early on because having thoughts or strategies means you’re showing “traitor-like behaviour” apparently. So anyone who could solve it must be got rid of and we’re left with the clueless idiots who vote for people for ridiculous reasons.

In fact, I’ve realised that it’s not about finding traitors at all as when they do, another is recruited to replace them. It’s really just about self-preservation, flying under the radar for long enough to see off most of the other players. Having a good sense of the way the wind is blowing and voting with the pack helps too. But do not have a strategy or a theory as they’ll tear you to pieces.

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 12:37

@DazzlingCuckoos I read somewhere (not sure if true) that they can't do Strictly if they've done Dancing on Ice (although they can do DOI if they've done strictly?

SharpOpalNewt · 23/01/2025 12:37

Leanne has a strong mean girl school bully vibe to me.

I'd like Charlotte or Alexander to win now Minah has gone. Anyone but Leanne.
