The Traitors #9 - 'why am I still here?'

witchycat2 · 23/01/2025 08:31

Just two episodes to go until we find out who will be victorious - the traitors or the faithfuls.

Will Alexander save the faithfuls?

Will Charlotte lead Freddie like a lamb to the slaughter?

Who will feel Leanne's wrath tonight?

Will Frankie cry at the banishment?

Not long until we find out!

I think that despite the calmness of the sisterhood Traitors to date, a male will win it. So Jake, Freddie or Alexander.

It's going to get juicy tonight. Wonder what the big twist will be?

Choux · 23/01/2025 15:00

No one knows for sure Leanne had the shield. She just says she did. So either people believe her (plausible unless someone else also claims they had it) or people wonder why she is saying it.

Freddie is going to realise at breakfast thst Charlotte knew Leanne had the shield and didn't share it with him. What he does next could be:

1 Start planting Charlotte's name as a traitor but he doesn't have much evidence to back that up.

2 Claim Leanne's statement is false as HE had the shield and he helped get Minah out so is clearly a faithful and try to get Leanne out.

3 Try to throw suspicion on Alexander as the other person who didn't know Leanne had the shield.

The morally correct thing to do is 1 but I think the producers might get him to do 2 to ramp the drama right up because Leanne is not a viewers favourite. It would be an oxymoronic sweet Traitor vs evil Faithful!

placemats · 23/01/2025 15:02

The producers don't know who will be a favourite at the time of filming though @Choux

Plus I like Leanne. Edit I would like a Traitor to win this year and think Freddie is very sweet.

Doesn't she have the physical shield? And even if she doesn't it's super risky to tell 4 people you have it if you don't know who does. So I think it will make her gold plated faithful and she will be in the final two.

I wish there wasn't a twist. There's enough going on as it is. And it's so late in the game no twist as any time to build.

I'm not sure how much influence producers have over what contestants do or say.

I think it was Alex from series 1 who said in an interview that they may encourage you to go to this room or talk to certain people. To dictate who the contestant confides in about the their shield is rigging the game in my opinion.

happinessischocolate · 23/01/2025 15:10

After the dolls house task when Jake got the shield, no one in the castle knew who had the shield and we speculated for 5 days what would happen.

They killed Lisa and it was never mentioned again 😂

I predict the same happening tonight and someone else getting murdered

Apart from Frankie they were all people Leanne trusts. So it's not surprising she told them. Don't think the producers told her to. Maybe they said she should tell someone but wouldn't dictate who.

Ineedashero · 23/01/2025 15:12

I reckon Freddie and Alexander will be the last people in for breakfast. It wont come as a shock to Charlotte to see Leanne but Freddie's face will be interesting to see and I wonder if he'll be able to control it without being caught.

If someone else goes this whole thread becomes irrelevant!

Again, I think it should be down to the contestant to decide whether to reveal they have it or not before the murder. Claudia repeats "What you do with they knowledge us up to you".
It makes a difference.

MsAnnFrope · 23/01/2025 14:33

Yes! I also think Charlotte is hamming it up a bit deliberately. Because it is a game and it must be quite fun to turn traitor like that. She obviously likes acting to run with the Welsh accent the whole time!

This is what my rather astute DD said last night. She has been playing the role of another character all the way through. Much easier to become a traitor when you are pretending to be someone else already.

No-one else can be murdered now. Last night's murder was the final one. Only banishment from now on.

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 23/01/2025 15:17

VelvetWildflower · 23/01/2025 14:22

It's a beautiful ploy to lead Freddie to the slaughter but he didn't look 100% on board with killing Leanne last night. Even if they do agree to kill Leanne, I think at the round table they will eventually vote out Alexander even though the suspicion will still somewhat be on Freddie. It'll 'backfire' but not terribly so on Charlotte.

What happens if the traitors absolutely cannot agree on who to murder?

whosaidtha · 23/01/2025 15:17

@xsquared suggesting it and telling them is different.
Why do we think they did? It seems plausible if you're convinced it's Freddie or Alexander to do this test?
But then again if someone else goes it doesn't exonerate F & A because they could just coincidentally choose someone else.

happinessischocolate · 23/01/2025 15:29

I meant we'll find out tonight someone else has been murdered not Leanne

whaddayawannado · 23/01/2025 15:38

Assuming Leanne was the intended victim...
All Freddie needs to do at breakfast is lie and say that he knew Leanne had the shield because 'someone' told him. And since there is nothing stopping a traitor having a shield, then perhaps she is using it to frame him. And he could then suggest that maybe there was no murder attempt after all, so there must have been a recruitment instead. Then Leanne will think that the sisterhood has betrayed her, and Freddie himself will know that Charlotte tried to set him up. Charlotte won't know whether he knew about the shield or not and was hiding that from her, so that will put her on the back foot as well. And nobody will think Freddie daft enough to talk about a recruitment if the person recruited was him.

<I really need to get out more>

Catching up from last night, I can’t help thinking a lot of the people moaning about Charlotte have never watched the series before – the entire point is you can’t trust another traitor and however much Minah might have been talking about sharing the prize, Charlotte can’t know for sure. Nor could she know that Minah wasn’t planting seeds against her?

Charlotte did the right thing given the table was turning on Minah anyway. Freddie I think she might have outclevered herself in that there’s nothing to now stop Freddie doing the same thing to her and in her - in his position I would.

So long as Leanne doesn’t win I’m happy with any outcome by now Going to be on an aeroplane tonight kicking myself as it all unfolds. Will be avoiding all media until I manage to catch up

Charlotte might not have known but we all knew that Minah wasn’t planting seeds against Charlotte and that Charlotte was planting seeds against Minah.

Obviously Charlotte is more ruthless and if you are like that you’re more likely to win. But we don’t have to like the woman!

Minah managed to be a likeable traitor. But it may have been her downfall.

Delatron · 23/01/2025 15:41

It worries me that there’s no more murders. It means Leanne will stay in to the end as it’s unlikely she’ll be banished..

newrubylane · 23/01/2025 15:42

Random observation that I forgot about from last night: Frankie suggesting that she might be the 'most irrelevant' voice, only to be ignored. Such a pure example of irony!

Yes, we all knew but Charlotte DIDN'T KNOW

And if you've ever watched another Traitors you'll know that's what Traitors always do to each other, so Charlotte would have been incredibly naive not to have suspected Minah of such behaviour.

Minah was ruthless when she had to be with Armani and Linda and would ahve been with Charlotte if suspicion had started to point her way. It's a game! I find Charlotte perfectly likeable and see sexism in some of the ooh, she's so ruthless posts.

I can see why you like her!

I’m merely explaining why people prefer Minah.. We don’t have to like Charlotte. Sure she’s playing a good game but we can all have our personal preferences..no need for capitals..

I said that Minah was naive to trust Charlotte. That was her downfall. I’m still allowed to like her!

Edited

I understand why people like Minah and I like her too, I was sad to see her go. But Charlotte played a good game and didn't do it in a particularly malevolent way, just what any smart Traitor would have done ...

There's a point. Could Freddie just brazen it out and tell them all Leanne was lying, perhaps to protect herself or to deflect from the fact she's a traitor, because in fact he had the shield. How could anyone prove otherwise? He could imply that she knew he had it and that's why she told them not to tell him. I guess at that point she'd be absolutely convinced he was a traitor, and it could become something of a death match between Leanne and Freddie.

Or he could say Charlotte told him Leanne had the shiel, to turn attention on her? Then he would sow some doubt about Charlotte and perhaps be able to convince the others it was Charlotte plotting to make him/Alexander look guilty.

I'm not sure how convincing either defence looks when you really analyse it - but since when have the Faithful analysed anything in any detail?

Sexism, and also nastiness about her looks - she's not as pretty as Minah which therefore seems to make her less likeable. I think she's great; I think she's having a ball in there and I applaud her ruthlessness.
