I was thinking this earlier. I also feel like the constant 'hootenanny' bollocks is grating and feels like a piss take given it's not live. Like they're all 'haha everyone thinks this is NYE and live' - once you see it you notice it constantly with the usual guests, all very smug. I used to quite enjoy it as part of the new years routine but sadly no more! (I realise this sounds like I've really over-thought it!!)

Loved Cmat, Jungle and Boomtown Rats - big improvement on previous years.

It was better than previous years. Didn't rate jungle (who I'd never heard of before) or the strange lying on the floor woman (also never heard of) but some of the older stuff was quite enjoyable.

This is filmed at the studios I work in and definitely isn't filmed in August. It's so much fun every year.

Of course, I've watched this, many years. I am 40 plus but sorry I don't want to see boom town rats rehashing their non hits. Where's the talent now?! Not just joules's and his cronies?! Glad you enjoyed though!

I didn't like cmat, and thought that Bob Geldof should have retired years ago.

Paul Carrack was great, and the lady who duetted with Roger Taylor stood out for me.

Bob Geldof was in fantastic shape for his age - clearly leading a non rock'n'roll lifestyle! I haven't heard him sing in years and he somehow managed to contain n the Dad dance and not to look embarrassingly awful.

Marc Almond did a superb set on Radio 2 Plano room.

Also thought Bob Geldof looked great!

Cmat's performance of without you was amazing - her voice is incredible - she brings a lot of humour to her performances - doesn't take herself to seriously but she's not for everyone.

I agree. When Vernon Kay did a month of piano room sets I was amazed at how good everyone was - except for Rod Stewart who really needs to retire.

You can’t say the Boomtown Rats songs were non hits! Rat Trap and I Don’t Like Mondays were both No 1s in the 70s!

I'd recommend listening to piano room on iplayer. I've fast forwarded some artists am on to Marc now.
