I'm buzzing!

I haven’t RTFT so sorry if this has already been mentioned, but does anyone else wish they would do a series where the audience don’t know who the traitors are?

Snowmanscarf · 03/01/2025 11:00

Claudia’s wardrobe was sublime last year. I think everything she wore we all lusted over.

APushbikeNamedReluctance · 03/01/2025 11:02

Absolutely correct. We also make the same comment on these threads - expressing disbelief at the behaviour. So convinced we wouldn't behave like that - except we are watching 20+ people who all thought they would do it differently too. 🤣

For something similar where you don’t know the secret identity watch the Mole on Netflix. It’s interesting but not as compelling as the Traitors, I think not knowing is good in theory but in practice there’s more room for drama when the audience know.

CaveMum · 03/01/2025 11:07

I'd be interested in looking at how the dynamics change when you skew the group entirely.

How would it play out with an all male cast, or an all female one?
What if everyone in the group was over the age of 40, or everyone under the age of 40?

How would the gameplay change in those circumstances? Fascinating!

Very true. The producers must’ve considered this, it’s an obvious twist, so I guess there is a reason why they haven’t done it. Thanks for the recommendation 👍

@arrigatto I agree, the train people did seem interesting.

I remember in the first series a doctor went to the end of the line and got eliminated. He looked a good candidate as well.

The doctor in the first series was Amos, who came back later with Kieran. Sadly he was murdered with a kiss of death by Amanda.

Amos was lovely, and popular with everyone, so he that made him a threat to the traitors. He formed a strong bond with Andrea the elderly lady who used to be a spy or something, and Alex chose him to confided in about the recruitment letter.

First time watcher here, I'm pretty sure the 3 from the train will be back - what are the chances that one from each carriage would self-nominate? It feels far too neat and convenient.
Watching how people follow others is fascinating - why did they not vote for Linda on night two when on night one they were all so sure she was a Traitor?
Armani surely is sounding suspicion with her interventions, sharing 'intel' and incessant talking. Her sister will call her out pretty soon I reckon.
I wonder if Linda and the priest know one another ... Just get a vibe from them...

I don't think they know each other I think people tend to bond with people they see as like them
.They are both white women of a similar age and seemingly from a similar background so instinctively they talk to each other.

Agree it's strange they didn't pursue with Linda as a traitor as they were so certain - with 'evidence' in their minds to back it up too. Odd.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 03/01/2025 13:15

Don’t forget that we see one hour of an entire day. There will have been a lot of sitting around and chatting that we don’t get to see. On Uncloaked Elen said that she talked to Kaz a lot. I don’t remember seeing them chatting.

I get the feeling a lot of this is like the first day at school, when you are all lost and anxious and form friendships quickly.

This sort of thing happens so much, in every series I've seen, so there's obviously something to it. The edit will be massive, of course; it's many hours of footage and we'll only be shown what's most pertinent to use with our knowledge of who is what. In reality I expect their feelings of certainty will ebb and flow and they'll keep changing their minds. Then, once at the round table, no matter how sure you are, you need a lot of nerve to hold out on your suspicions, especially as everyone's looking at ways you might also show yourself as a possible Traitor. Frankly, I couldn't do it.

Linda and the priest may have met at the auditions as there are some to test relationships, how the potential cast perform in a group etc.

I would be interested to see how it feels if you as a viewer aren't totally sure who the traitors are. So when the traitors recruit you could have an episode or two where we don't know who was recruited and if they accepted. You wouldn't see the murder discussion while in this phase and just see like all the faithful if the next one or two banished people were a newly recruited traitor.

Bixaweet · 03/01/2025 14:49

Feel like there are too many young'uns this series. They've definitely cast overemotional Instagram types for the reality TV reactions, but it would be good to enjoy some smart cookies playing the game on occasion.

Sammy900 · 03/01/2025 15:06

I'm sure I recognise Fozia, what else has she been in? Is she an actress?

The woman, first person, to get off the train.

The issue with the contestants getting emotionally attached is interesting.
I personally do not care what happens in the lives of strangers, as long as it doesn’t affect me or my family. I really could not care less about anyone I will come across today. That includes people I come into contact with at work etc. I always find it odd when an randomer asks me about my day. For example some complete stranger calls me trying to sell me something then launches into a script asking if I have had a nice Christmas, what about New Year? Did you have plans? Maybe it’s just me but my mind goes to ‘What the hell do you care?’ And quite frankly what if I had a terrible Christmas, what on earth can you do about it? Just stop with all the fakeness, my guard is now up and you are marked as a person not to trust because you are disingenuine.
Don’t get me wrong, politeness is fine. Hello, how may I help? Fine. The rest I class as prying.
I will admit that I feign an interest in my boss’s life. That’s self preservation because they want me to care. They are the type of person who thinks it matters if you show a deep interest in what they did over the holidays.
Again, my chances of being accepted as a contestant are slipping away.

Are you me?

Aaah. I’d forgotten her. Lady with a headscarf? And there was mullet man and ambassador chap?

I’m convinced we are going to see them again.

I notice that this year we don’t have anyone with a disability, as far as I’ve noticed so far. Weren’t there two people last year with a limb difference?

Livi has lost an eye to cancer - and written a book about it (My New Normal, by Livi Deane).

It's the law of suspense, as articulated by the master of it, Alfred Hitchcock;

"The master of suspense in cinema, Alfred Hitchcock, simplified the definition of cinematic suspense when he said, “Mystery is when the spectator knows less than the characters in the movie. Suspense is when the spectator knows more than the characters in the movie.”

Don’t forget that Jaz last year hadn’t heard of Agatha Christie and said last night on Uncloaked that he had never read a book. Lots of people don’t read.

there's a difference between not doing something yourself but understanding other people do it, and reacting in utter bemusement and confusion to a very normal thing though!

@TheDowagerCountessofPembroke I went back to double check, nope it was definitely 'nather'! Spelling a more unusual name phonetically or with an e variation would be understandable (e.g there were a few variations of Elen), but surely Nathan is one of the most common names out there and Nather...isn't!

When I saw Keith's spelling I presumed dyslexia or low literacy to be honest. I don't think we should be having a go at him.

Exactly. It is possible to get through life being functionally illiterate. Keith is certainty of an age where dyslexia and learning difficulties wouldn’t have been noticed or supported. He made a simple error.
