I enjoyed it. I'm glad they cast a black man. I figured out part but not all of the solution and didn't guess the perpetrator. I like the bit where the new detective questioned the need for an Agatha Christie style ending where the lead detective explains the case to all the suspects and witnesses before making an arrest. 😆

I thought there was no intention to shoot the third man (Tyrus). HH Dad needed to fire the gun to get casings or to be heard (or something - can't remember) and it was just a total coincidence that it hit someone and that someone was also dressed as santa.

90 mins is too long, but it's needed to allow catch up on the new DI and general goings-on at Saint Marie.

Absolutely ridiculous that no-one questioned why a kid would go down to reception to report a body on the beach, rather than just telling his dad & letting him deal with it. Just one thing that saw belief wearing some Christmassy suspenders, with bells on.

That said, the acting is definitely up a notch with Don Gilet. His character is a disrespectful arse (but as PPs say, they’ll obvs all warm to each other). Not that I’m against the am-dram feel of previous series as it’s been part of its shtick, but this feels like there could be more actual, well-acted drama in future. Hopefully still room for some silliness though.

I liked it. The 'Why can't I just write it all up in a case report' bit was funny. Good to see Naomi's character being developed a bit more as well.

My only question is where did Tyrus get his sling from? If it was from the hospital, surely they would have reported the shooting to the police straightaway!

I thought Don Gilet was way better than Ralf Little and Ardal O’Hanlon. So a welcome change. Not as good as Kris Marshall, who was the best.

Me and DH cleared the whole thing up when we wondered why a small biy who witnessed a murder would wander down to Hotel Reception rather than just wake his Dad up who was in the same room.
I like DIP but the whole thing was a bit stupid

I absolutely love DiP but I struggled, I like DG but he didn't have the quirks the others had, the character was just rude, but then I love RL and didn't think I'd like him in DIP but he settled in well
